  1. I recall when I use to go to the Sportsmen Show in the early 90's. There would be a guy who would yell out deals out of nowhere. He would just pour out boxes of reels on the floor, stand on a table and hold a rod up....and yell out the deal, actually, the deals were absolutely fantanstic too! Not sure if they called him Lucky Lou or Crazy Lou? But I'm wondering if he owned that place? Nice find nonetheless.
  2. I was thinking the exact same thing.
  3. Thats great that she is doing well Lew. All the best and godspeed on Dianes recovery.
  4. They are ugly fish. Definately gotta watch out for those fins.
  5. Wild, I didn't those guys were Canucks.
  6. Great report Misty1, I must say, I miss fishing Rice Lake, big time. Judging by the stringer of eyes, you got the tehnique down there. What resort did you guys stay at?
  7. My bad Jacques, just checked, the show on Spike was called Kill Point. Anyways, very impressive for you and your wife, hopefully it keeps rolling and gets bigger and bigger. Maybe you can talk to CBS to bring back the show Jericho.
  8. Just finished watching it, pretty good. I watched the SpikeTV mini-series, by the same name, that was also good. Is this new series inspired by the SpikeTV one Jacques? BTW Jacques, what is your association with the new show? Curious is all.
  9. I agree with everything xrap mentioned. Couple weeks ago after a rain, I caught around 2 dozen in 10 minutes, just to give you an idea how easy it is, and cheap.
  10. Could be just that kind of day, it happens to all of us. Next time you go down there, have your son try a worm harness, with some weight of course, and you a crank-bait and see what happens. Worm harnesses usually attract all kinds of fish, so there should be action for him anyways. I have heard for some time that the pearl white Big-O's do pretty well on the Grand. It takes sometime to learn the intricacy's of the Grand. I am sure you and your son's day will come.
  11. Hey Goran, I know there use to be a place on Vanismart, which runs parallel with Barton, by Strathearne...I'm sure he's still there. My dad got his cover for his boat there, so I'm sure doing a bbq wouldn't be an issue. Sorry, don't remember the name.
  12. Got that right on nothing going on at the pier, was there several hours today, not a single perch caught. Oh well, nice perch you got there.
  13. I'm going to be checking out my local tackle store in the next few days, I'll see if they got em.
  14. If you want really local, flat-line around the lift bridge peir, Hamilton side. Tons of bait fish in, shad and emeralds. So far I've seen several different types of fish cruising close to the peir. Seen a chinook, pike, gar pike, brown trout. I've only caught a couple sheephead so far, but heard of some browns being caught there recently. Give it a go.
  15. "Mini skirts, and lots of em", that was awesome. That was a very good read, wish you had better luck fish wise, but it sounded like a great day nonetheless. Good stuff. And you're right, great fishing to be had close to home.
  16. Ahhh, that was a splendid report! Were you guys fishing Rice Lake, cuz that looks like you were fishing by Grape Island at one point? And I must say, that pic of you Rich with the Onions is classic! You guys are the ONION KINGS! That has a nice ring if I do say so myself. Nice job boys!
  17. Very enjoyable report. Definately nice seeing species caught I've never heard of, and how to catch em. Nice going and glad you finally got out. Was looking forward to a report from you.
  18. I got the same issue Rick, minus the pipe, mine goes into my laundry sink and is plastic. My basement is sometimes too cold, and I plugged my vents there, my main floor is ok, but upstairs usually is pretty muggy, even with the ac on all day. If you find an easy and economical solution Rick, let me know.
  19. I agree, emerald shiner for sure. Good sized one too, get the dip net out and your in business.
  20. I wouldn't hesitate to say that they are my favourite freshwater fish to eat. Very sweet tasting and I don't have any trouble cleaning them, especially if they are the bigger ones nor had I had issues with bones with them. If you don't want em, I"ll take em. ; )
  21. Took my son there tonight, actually had a trout follow my lure right to the pier and come out of the water as I pulled the lure out of the water. Didn't get it, but was fun to watch. You can catch rainbows, browns, and lake trout there, as well as salmon. Was talking to one of the smelters a few days ago and he would see the trout/salmon cruising back and forth eating up baitfish. Good luck.
  22. Thank you all for your input, much appreciated.
  23. I was wondering if anybody here has any experience concerning Hyundai Santa Fe's, or knows somebody that has owned one? Basically, my dilemma here is if I should go with a minivan or an SUV? I have been looking at Dodge Caravans as well, any info on those would be appreciated as well. I have a wife and 2 kids, so I maybe directing towards a minivan. Anyways, any help would be appreciated. If I do go the minivan route, which one has a good reputation?
  24. Yeah, been that price for a week here, or close to it. Thankfully I filled up last night. Unfortunately, my car is lousy on gas!
  25. A coworker of mine spouse is a truck driver, he stated gas prices are suppose to go up 8 to 10 cents over night tonight. So you may want to fill up tonight, you never know.
