  1. Definately A Christmas Story. I was lucky enough to watch it at the theatres when I was a kid, ever lasting memory. Great flick.
  2. Well, just got off the phone with my dad. They fished Friday night in Picton Harbour, caught around 6, biggest being 13+lbs. Saturday, did ok as well. In total between 3 of them, caught 14. Go get em CH! There is a 16lber there calling your name.
  3. My dad went up there on Friday, coming back Sunday. I'll post here if he caught any. They should be in big time though if anyone has a chance to head up there.
  4. I have seen them in their catalogue, and they look amazing! Apparently they are very breathable, opposed to the standard float suit. And if they keep you as warm as their gloves, it is worth the $400 they go for. I believe its made of the same trademark material, Insultex.
  5. Just a note, I didn't get them from the site I posted, but from Grimsby Tackle. I know he is, or already has, and order for them. They will go fast though, as they appear to be in great demand.
  6. Thanks for the kind words all. I suppose it was a little frustration coming out. I definately wanted to fish more, but hey, not my boat. It was a good time nonetheless and am glad if anyone can use anything from it.
  7. I do recall a thread a week or two ago about gloves while fishing in cold weather. Just before I went up to boq this past weekend, I purchased these gloves called Arctic Armor. http://www.fish307.com/index.asp?PageActio...amp;ProdID=6540 I have to say, they are amazing. I put my hand in the cold cold water, naturally with the gloves on, for a few minutes, not only were my hands dry, but still warm. They are somewhat cumbersome to cast with, and feeling the line while jigging, but yet are not that bulky. They are a little costly, $35, but are well worth it. I believe they are meant for ice fishing, but with weather like this, just as well. So all these stories about going through multiple pairs of gloves can halt, these are all I used while I was up there. Plus while ice fishing, dipping your hands in the hole is not a worry. Check em out, you won't regret it.
  8. Well I worried that the weather I was going to have to endure would be the factor whether how much fishing I would be doing when I went up to quinte this past Saturday. This cold coming in, wind.....well, the weather was alright actually. I was scheduled to stay there till Wednesday, but left Tuesday. Reason for leaving was that the bay was like mud soup. Was like that from Deseronto to Picton to Belleville. I never thought the weather from Friday's storm was going to be the main factor on the fishing. It just never cleared while we were there, visibility was like 3 inches! Unreal!! Each day that passed I would check the water and still mud. I just can't believe the entire bay turned like that, I didn't think it was possible, but apparently so. We did manage to catch 2 fish, 1 around 3lbs and the other around 12lbs, both trolling wally divers. My dad caught it, but he's alittle camera shy. Btw, I didn't even get a bite!!!!! We didn't fish that much at all really. I figure we only spent 5 hours over 3 days. Now Monday evening was a visually amazing, bay was glass, was cold, but with no wind, almost a full moon, its was a visibly pleasing night other than the muddy water. Thats too bad really, I think we coulda slayed them that night, but its hard to catch fish when they can't see your lure. Funny thing on Monday night, I went outside the trailer around 11:00pm, then again at around 11:45, I couldn't believe all the snow that came down in that time. I was completely unaware it was even snowing during my little break from a break. Woke up Tuesday morning to more snow and about 20' of shore ice. Oh well, I was spent anyways. It was just too frustrating to plan a trip like this and get screwed by a storm that happened before I even got there. Once again, oh well. There are alot of fish in, marked tons and heard several excellent reports prior to Fridays storm. When the mud clears, and no ice on the bay, very good chances of getting into big numbers. So if there are any die hards here, good luck.
  9. I've probably been a coffee drinker for 8 or 9 years. Last year I stopped for 8 months, actually wasn't hard for me at the time. I simply worked out like a fiend and replaced my coffee with vanilla soya mixed with fruit. Funny thing is, my acid reflux went away as well, hmm. But I am drinking coffee again, but by choice, I like it, but only at most 2 a day, sometimes none. I used to get a strain in the back of my neck, figured my body was jonesinit for a coffee, but it goes away. Take some of that liquid gel advil, bam. Just takes time for your body\mind not to crave it. Now if I could only do that with smoking. Good luck.
  10. Isn't this just dandy! I have been in denial for a week now. Just figures when I plan to go up there, the crazy weather kicks in. grrrr. Thats why I'm loading my laptop with stuff to do. ie. episodes of the tv series Heroes and Jericho. I am just hoping the weather people are their usual self and are wrong.
  11. I'm heading up there this coming Saturday to Wednesday. Not looking forward to the weather coming though. But that is the kind of weather we are suppose to get anyhow. Should be good, as long as the wind isn't that bad and I bundle up.
  12. Nice going FF, looks like you and the boys had a great time. I'll be heading up there next weekend, but it looks like I won't be getting the weather you guys had unfortunately.
  13. MAN ALIVE!!! That is some night ya's had! Nice going.
  14. Very good info so far guys, thanks. And Paul, when you say dump the brine out again, I thought you emptied it already when you took them out of the freezer? And is there a problem keeping them in the freezer for a couple months?
  15. cheap is the operative word.
  16. Now that many of ya's gave me some great suggestions for storing live minnows, was going to start working on the dead ones. I have salted some, but not sure if I used enough salt? Plus I just used regular salt, I do though have some course salt. I know if I use too much, they'll just shrivel up. This is obviously not rocket science, but to those who do salt their minnows, do you just put a bunch in a bag, throw some salt in and shake it up like you're doing wings?
  17. This time of year I can't think of using anything better? If you are in the right area, you can get 100+ minnows in one scoop. Alot of good ideas here, thanks alot everyone. Think what I might do is store them in my dads garage opposed to my shed. It has electricity and should be cold enough, but not too cold, to store the minnows. I'll probably buy one of those rubbermaid bins Rich suggested, along with an aerator and some water conditioner. And brifishrgy, thanks for the heads up, I'll have to look into that limit deal for minnows. Thanks again, much appreciated.
  18. Yeah, I thought that too. I heard they can last for months without eating? Since I have no power to my shed, and my basement will be way too warm, I will have to look into a battery opoerated aerator. Perhaps just turn it on for a few hours each day? Hmm.
  19. Well, got the hang of this umbrella minnow net I purchased. And thanks again to those who helped me out on chumming for minnows. I got out the other day and got aton of emeralds. For now, they are in a 5 gallon bucket, filled with lake water, but 90% of them died after a couple hours. Probably put too many in the bucket. I would like to keep them alive for awhile, perhaps even over the winter months. I have seen those enhanced buckets by Frabill and Rapala with airaters (sp?). But was wondering if anyone else has any other good tips on keeping minnows alive for months? I do recall a thread on this on the old old board. Btw, I would probably keep them in my shed outside, but there is no power to it.
  20. Yeah, thats crazy. Just the other day, one of those black and white ducks fly into my line. Man, I was glad he didn't pull enough to get the lure up to him. After landing in the water, shaking his head a few times, off he went.
  21. Welcome aboard the kernal. Here is a website of all the resorts on Rice Lake: http://www.ricelakecanada.com/A_WEBPAGES/resortsmap.html. The places I have stayed at, Pleasant View Camp(gone now), Whispering Pines and Tower Manor Lodge, were all great places. I am sure if you book in advance you would have no problem for accomodations. I found there were more kids at Tower Manor than the others though. I am sure you will get enough hits on this thread, as Rice Lake is a pretty popular spot. Btw, the replies to this thread might be alittle slow this weekend as alot of OFC's are at BOQ, so hang in there.
  22. You can try this place http://www.bassetrescue.ca/. We have dealt with them before and they were very good about things. We fostered a cross you are looking for as well. All dogs range in age as well.
