  1. Thats one heck of a bass there Bud....... I dont know about 2' but it sure is one heck of a hog and ifn you've alreaqdy caught several over #5 then you would know for sure if your approaching #6... Regardless.... Thanks for letting me view that great looking bass. bNb
  2. Thanks Stoty..... Thats a great tip.... Any more tips on perhaps..areas good for bass....biggun's... JK....many thanks Bud
  3. Im with percher on this one. We started using that same rig this year with great success. On Quinte there is a saying...(most likely everywhere).. "When the water is above 65'f...use a worm harness...and when its below use a body bait like a manns or similar... Unless it is through the ice...This is the time Ive found the fishing to be actually alot better for catch rate by size.
  4. Ron..hey there Bud...long time no see around these parts..perhaps its only me. I wont be targeting musky this weekend... Bass/Walleye only The cabin we have is located on the extreme south end just east of McCrackens landing...actualley..GilchristBay. Ive courses plotted to the south from there going south through Fairylake both east and west but it looks like the south end will be the most productive from the info I have. I was also thinking about ging north towards Burleigh Falls....there are pools around the basin where the falls sorta chill out. Pure... I do have a finder combo..the L-522iGPS. Ive been looking and its not called stoney for nothing...seems more islands or sunken islands. You can be sure there wont be too many times we'll have 'er wide open. But, Thanks for the heads up.
  5. Hey all, This weekend comming my partner and I have booked a cabin at Littles Cabins.. I have gone back through the search engine for info posted by OFC'rs to see what was up...and for the most part it seemed a difficult fish. I've also researched the navionics topo's and Adventure Maps edition of the waters and are just searching out for a little more info on locations N-S-E or West. PM me if you choose......all info will be appreciated.. Thanks Kindly... BnB
  6. Great story Bud! Rog............ You'll never ever see a bad word from me bud nor have youever.....(BPS and its people) WTG. I know why you work there ............. pete edit: WTG Dave's ..Chong and Mercer
  7. Go for the Compre........you cant go wrong for the price BUT, where you can go wrong is, ..........#50 braid for musky??????? I would never consider anything under #80 in which case you must use a baitcaster period. It also must be paired with a decent leader of material of your choice but if you wish to be fish friendly use a fluor leader of at least #100. I dont have one set-up under #80 w/#130 fluoro leader. Regardless of the size of your spincast reel it cannot possibly handle line test effectively over #30 mono for this type of fishing. I am perhaps incorrect but the way I have learned is......."This is what it is"' If you want the fish to survive..you bring ér in quick for the release or dont bother at all.................and, if you get an incidental catch on light setups...... Cut the freaking line.
  8. Without hiring a guide........... Youve fished the Kawarthas....they do hold 50+ fish As others have said, you have to put the time in and look for the structure you learned to locate and be there at the right time............TIME ON THE WATER That about it. If'n you want larger..youve reciev3ed a couple of great suggestions already without hiring a guide. If your seriously considering the Ottawa or Larry............PM ROY as a start. He'll steer you in the right direction.................Right Roy?
  9. Sean..........great day out for you fellas for sure and congrats... About the topwaters.......????????? Ive always loved the clear/mirror waters for them..'specially the oversized ZaraSpooks but,(they look too cool) But after an episode on MuskyHunter I became to understand that topwaters are better in rough water, when there is a little turbulence on the top ..the action/rattle and motion.... the fish dont get a good hard look at your bait. I continue the mirror like waters but have just started on other situations with quite a bit of luck bud!...just ah heads up if'n you wish to try is all. We had success doing the pre-fish up at Stony this past weekend before the tourney next weekend with this method....almost the same % you posted. I dont know if I can get away with from topwatering the mirror water (the baits sure look great) but the little rougher water works and ...a topwater hit is one of the best next to a boat side/figure8 for sure. Keep these reports comming..they are great. BnB
  10. We has gas out here Friday morning anywhere from 119.6 - 121.8 ...and on the Rez where I filled up it was 117.8. By late Friday most places were 136.8. Thats an average close to..Hmmmm???? about $0.17/ltr All because Ike may or may not hit shore.
  11. I too are somewhat partial to Princecraft...with the V-Hull your almost gauranteed to get out of trouble, as well sit comfortably right in it if you please...of course motor size has a lot to do with it. You also mentioned RnR.......Princecraft all the way....B U T !!!! Some of the water bodies you mentioned can be overwhelming if they wish....... Go V-Hull Go 16' Go with the biggest/baddest motor you can afford. Good Luck withyour choice!
  12. Roy, I just read your post and perhaps the next 2 but Im not going to go through the next few pages for a moment, I dont post much but ............... THIS FREAKING SUCKS................. Gary was a friend to not only me but my family and we are going to miss him. Indeed this is sad news and I thank you for the umpleasant chore of bringing this to our attention. To Gary's son............if you read this... Our heart felt sincere sympathy goes out to you at this time and your family. My last time with Gary was at Lakair, (west arm of Lake Nippissing, Ontario), in /06 .......... and he graced our campfire every night we were there and you couldnt find better company anywhere, This is a sad day in our home........... ..........we will rejoice in his memory ............NO PROBLEMS AT ALL! Thanks Roy.......thanks.
  13. W O .............WEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Dan, Great read and to say Im somewhat envious would be one of the largest understatements of my life. Well,..I wasnt part of this but I sure got to live it it through you Bud! Thanks, -pete

  18. Im going to join in on this one Tony.......... It was a lonnnnng time commmmming... WTG and congrats... I truly know you'll enjoy every moment..... The first scratch she gets will suck forever in your mind.....................ONLY! .but it will happen.........relax about it now.
  19. Dunno what to say actually...in that price range but, EAGLE..(byLowarance), has a decent selection and are fairly reputable as well in that price category. If he's colour blind theres not much wrong with the GreyScale finders.........I actually like them quite a bit. Not Eagle ..but Ive a greyScale mounted on the bow of my boat and its a decent read. Have your buddies wife check out ... www.lowrance.com ...you'll find them there as well the features that accompany them. .if she can.....suggest opting for a dual frequency cone for more coverage.
  20. weedless flippin jig w/creature or just a plain ole blown-up crawler on an Owner hook 3/0.
  21. Stoty, Are you considering the 27-28th..of Sept. If so, you can pencil us in at the moment provided we survive the Stoney Lake Combo the week before without any propbs witht teh boat.
  22. ...another successful outing... WTG Gary... ...one of these days I'll be washing some lures past your way at about 2 1/2 clicks ..we'll gettogether then. -peter
  23. Hey Scott.......WTG big Guy...WTG. ...your dead right about Mark too......more then willing to give of his time. (Mark,..How the hell is your arm doing????? .....you'll be getting a telephone call from myself later today as discussed) ...Stoney's comming soon Bud! - pete
  24. Hey Dutch..... Dont get alarmed.... You should check under that shiny new truck .....by looking at your driveway it appears you may have a serious leak! Thars some tasty eaters in them other pics BTW.
