So I took the wife fishing, this is something she loves to do but her back has been giving her grief for the last few months and she wants the water to be flat before she'll venture out. I on the other hand have been out a lot, 25 to 30 times and the biggest fish i've caught is 24 3/4 inch walleye. So the wife nails this one and i haven't heard the end of it this is one of the largest fish caught on Gullrock this year 28 inches, 7.5 pounds

All you older folks should remember Henny Youngman, the king of the one liners, I can picture him using all those postings above.

JOKE OF THE WEEK….. Two women were sitting quietly together, minding their own business.

i was out fishing for a couple hours and the walleye were just hammering the minnows, not their usual nip and pull routine, then I went to the dump and there was a big black bear, who would not move when I tried to get him away from my dumping area, he/she just looked up then went on digging into the garbage bags. After the dump I went to town for the mail and on the way home there was a cow moose standing beside the highway munching away not letting the traffic interrupt her. 5 miles down the road was a big buck and a good size doe beside the highway munching away, traffic wasnt going to stop their eating either. Seems like they all are filling up before the big storm the forcasters are calling for tonight and tomorrow hits. Maybe nature can be used as a barometer.

thats a good one,, I missed that "rare breed" I didn't get close enough to measure but I guess we'll take 7 inches. I suppose you could check with my team captain to see if he'll go along with that guestimate. Just thought I'd brighten your day LOL

when I got my boat, the insurance company I had my house insurance with wanted $1000 a year to add it to my insurance package (the boat cost me just over 35K) I thought that was outrageous, so I called a friend who is inthe insurance business and he set me up with a Marine insurance company, now it cost $765 per year and has several specific qualifications on it, one of which is not using it south of a certain latitude( don't know why and cant remember which latitude, but I'm pretty far north of it anyway).

Red Lake is still in Ontario and is in the heart of Sunset Country, just read Dan C s posting about Red Lake, it might sway you to come up, we have a hospital in town and air ambulance if needed.

I have seen fish called many names, walleye are pickerel, walleyed pike, bass are hogs, pigs, big puppies etc. so I heard pike were called gators by a lot of people too, so heres a big gator I caught (on camera) can we use the 120 inches for our team, as we kinda look like we are in a crappy spot on the standings

Accessing the internet in cottage country (and rural areas)

we put in a satellite system among the neighbours, 3 houses sharing it via a wireless router. it was faster than the dial up we were using and we have had that system for 5 or so years, but this year i put in a system for ourselves. I was away when the system was installed and so the installer put it directly into the wife's computer and it was pretty fast. when i came home i installed a router and the speed indicated on her computer went from 100mbs to 54mbs (i'm assuming that is the speed of the router). xplornet had a special on when i ordered it, the equipment was free as long as you signed up for 2 years and took the 1 meg package. the price of the package was also lowered from 80 to 60 per month. I'm pretty happy with it , it sure makes it easier and quicker to view the posting and pics on OFC. -
the fourth of july is the one day I fly the stars and stripes on my point. The flag was given to me by my old hunting partner over 20 years ago and I gave him one of our flags, he used to fly it on Victoria Day because he loved Canada. He was my best man at my wedding and taught me how to duck hunt and shoot better. He's been gone now for many years and this is the way I honour him. (and I got american cousins too) Happy Independence Day to all our US friends

here's another twist on the hst. a guy I work with takes a taxi to work every shift. He told me this afternoon that his normal fare from his house to work is $6.50. today he said the taxi driver told him the fellow was in to adjust the meters in the cabs to reflect the hst and his cost today $9.35 now I thought the hst was to replace the pst and gst into onetax, so if he wasn't paying pst or gst before the most the fare should have gone up would be $.98 , so who's making the extra or are they taxing on top of tax?

Here's a news report from the dryden radio the guy mentioned here works as a self employed guide and has a newspaper column in the kenora newspaper: Too Many Walleye on Lake of the Woods Posted by Mike Ebbeling on Wednesday, June 16th, 2010 am 11:53:46 AM Two anglers have been fined nearly $4,000 for having too many walleye in their possession. Brent Kruger of Kenora and Cynthia Nault of Winnipeg pleaded guilty to having 15-walleye over the legal limit. The two were caught on Lake of the Woods back in April.

Paddy and Murphy, two friends from Leading Tickles, Newfoundland, were talking one afternoon when Paddy tells Murphy, "Ya know, I reckon I'm 'bout ready for a vacation. Only this year I'm gonna do it a little different. The last few years, I took your advice about where to go. Three years ago you said to go to Hawaii .. I went to Hawaii and Molly got pregnant. Then two years ago, you told me to go to the Bahamas and Molly got pregnant again. Last year you suggested Tahiti and darn me, if Molly didn't get pregnant again." Murphy asks Paddy, "So, what you gonna do this year that's different?" Paddy says, "This year I'm taking Molly with me."

I just realized they will probably expect us to declare this as income on our next years taxes and tax us on the benefit. guess i better put 25% away for that!

I just got home from picking up the mail and lo and behold I had a letter from the Ontario Government. Since I just recieved a tax bill from them for my house I assumed this would be another tax bill for a different property that I lease on a land use permit. Wrong, It was a cheque from Dalton for the hst transition for $330. What a nice way to start the afternoon. NOW the wife wants to know where her cheque is. There is supposed to be another in December and another one the following June. So is this going to be 1 cheque per person or household?

congrats Connie, that's a long time for your wife to put up with your fishing addiction. you kinda sound like my dad, he used to give my mom plumbing parts for the toilet for their anniversary, needless to say she was never impressed, but I think secretly she always wondered what was coming next.

A week ago I travelled down the highway to Eagle Lake for the annual get together of the Eagle Lake Hookers Club. ( a name we have been using for over 20 years). This comprises of guys getting together from Thunder Bay, Calgary , Lethbridge and Red Lake. We pass the time eating, playing crib, telling tall tales and of course we wet a line or two. The two guys I fished with this year LOVE to go and sit on a rock and WAIT and WAIT and WAIT for the odd lake trout to pass by and hopefully grab the cisco they have laying on the bottom. Here we are in the boat going to the rocky shore we fish from Once we got to the rock, we had to set up the lines I dropped the two guys off and went to try for some walleye, but I only got 1 little northern and had motor problems so I decided to head back to the rock and check on the progress they were making. When I got there they had already caught a couple of fish The next day we returned to the same spot and caught 1 walleye (in the slot and released) my 32 inch northern (duly pictured and submitted to OFC and OFAH,) released, and 1 more trout needless to say we had fun and then we brought the fish home to our camp chef Terry, (who we call HOP SING after the chef from the LOrne Greene tv show) here are the fish ready to be processed So until next year , same time, same place, we will all spend the time boasting about who got what and how big it was, but I'm the only one with pictures to prove any claims

there sure are a lot of big words like "marmalade" in the original rant. And as a local politician, I never use words that I know only the upper members of MENSA could understand. If you want to rant, keep it simple, so most of us in the masses can understand.

Ok, I added my location a few weeks ago and it came up with a blue pin and when I look at the map today, everybody else has a pinkish coloured pin . my question is did I do something wrong when I added it or does it just mean i'm special? LOL

I was going past Bass Pro on Wednesday and wanted to stop but the limo service driver said he wouldn't but he did say he would slow down so I could jump out on the 400. Obviously he thought his passengers were more important than fishing, what a poor attitude.

I have 2 livewells in my alumacraft that were cable operated to drain, one never worked from day 1 and theother broke, I just bought a couple plugs (like the boat plug) in a size for the drain hole and only use the pump to fill the wells. pulling the plug empties them just fine. (a cheap way to go).

I have 1 serious person and he has requested more information, which Isent today, so I'm considering it "conditionally " given away. Thanks to those who responded.

i bought a fish tv and it came with a bag that has screen shades on it, cost around $100 but I haven't tried it yet. Our lake is fairly stained water and when I used my buddies aqua vu the only time I could see the rocks is when i bounced the camera off them.
