If you don't want to kill it, trap in alive and move it far away. There is a company in Wisconsin that makes live traps foalmost anything , the Tomahawk Live Trap company, their 800 number is 1-800-272-8727. you can also go online to tomahawklivetrap.com and check out their catalogue. I have seen these traps and they tell me they sell a lot of them to the MNR in Ontario. The people that run this company are very friendly and would be able to ship to you with no problem, But, I don't know the cost of the trap off hand. Oh yes, this is a family run operation and have been in business for decades, and one of the guys that own it is a fishing fanatic and loves hunting so he is very approachable. His name is Greg Smith,

I have sent emails and pms to Ranger and haven't heard from him so I have moved down the post to fishnfool. I have emailed him today and will wait a week to hear from him, I hate to haul this to the dump but I may be do just that if no-one wants it

yup, HTHM, I thought that could be the way to get the boat to Thunder Bay but since I have yet to get together with Dan I certainly couldn't impose on him to do this. Dan, if you get a chance send me a pm with a number that I can reach you at, just in case the time comes to wet a line. By the way Ranger has said he wants the boat and since he was the first to reply I am holding it for him, but I have sent him 2 emails and still haven't heard back from him. I hope he reads this post because I don't want to have the boat around all summer. If I don't hear from him within a couple weeks, I'll get in touch with the next on the list.

Gullrock lake is 11 km south of Red Lake on highway 105 . I am 215 km north and west of Dryden on highway 17 or 275 km north and east of Kenora (also on highway 17).

I have this 1976 starcraft supersport that has been out of the water since 2001 when I bought my new boat. I had a buddy who wanted it but he has since backed out. Therefore, it is free to anyone who wants to come and get it. The boat has a couple dings (not bad ones) and is missing a rivet in the rear but it is easily accessable to repair. The boat has been renovated with a casting platform but I'm sure this could be a great winter project for someone to restore. I have the side rails and top frame for it too. the trailer has to stay (my son's) and the motor is his also and will be removed Here's a picture (hope this works) first come, first served, the boat is too good to go to the dump

got these from another web site, but in our area where most of the tourists are from that area, we can relate to these The Ten Commandments (Minnesota Style) 1. Der's only one God, ya know. 2. Don't make that fish on your mantle an idol. 3. Cussin ain't Minnesota nice. 4. Go to church even when you're up nort. 5. Honor your folks. 6. Don't kill. Catch and release. 7. There's only one Lena for every Ole. No cheatin. 8. If it ain't your lutefisk, don't take it. 9. Don't be braggin bout how much snow ya shoveled. 10. Keep your mind off your neighbor's hotdish.

buying cottage property and converting it to residential
grt1 replied to pike slayer's topic in General Discussion
here's the way I see it. you have to check the official plan for the township, this is the "official" zoning for your prospective property. It has to go through several layers of approval to get put into place and it costs thousands to the township to get approved . So it your property is listed as R1 (which is normally residential) or R4 (which is normally rural residential) you are probably ok for year round occupancy, but if the property is designated as seasonal then you SHOULD go and apply for a zoning change. However, in my own opinion, I would tell the township if others are allowed year round occupancy on the lake, you expect to be treated the same way and not descriminated against (this could really stir the pot as no politician likes to be called for descriminating). good luck, -
Great white north? Boats in April? I'll take it!

I just spent the morning cleaning out the winter crud from my 16' Lund and washing it out. Tomorrow, prep the engine and run it up. who knows maybe by the weekend I'll lauch it in the river. What a great way to spend the morning!!!! Last year I got it ready to go and we got 10 inches of snow, hope we avoid that this year. -
But if I win it, will Subway pay for my divorce?

So today I went to the river just up the road from my house to wet a line for the first time in open water. When the ice goes out, the big northerns come into spawn and I had my camera and ofc sign ready to add to the team 3 total. I only got one fish and I was going to take it's picture to add to the team total but when I put it beside my sign , the sign was bigger and I don't know if our team captain has a sense of humour, so I just released the fish. Anyway, I don't know how many points you get for a 5 inch perch. Just the same, I feel like I have started the spring fishing season, just a little slowly thats all.

A couple weeks ago, the wife and I decided to head to Wisconsin to visit our summer neighbours manufacturing plant then on to southern Minnesota to his house and along the way we would hit a couple casinos. The first casino we went to was Fortune Bay (1 1/2 hours south of Fort Frances) and I managed to lose $20. The wife wouldn't tell me how much she lost, so I assume it was over $100. While at our neighbours we hit a casino in Iowa that is close to his house and I ended up at a fishing game. I guess I should have known better since my $20 limit was gone quickly and I ended up losing $60. This is a big loss for me since it is the wife who gambles. On the way home we stayed at another casino the wife visits with her girlfriends and Holy Smokes I ended up UP $120 , so when we left the states, I felt like a real winner. The wife ended up coming home with more than she took so it was a relatively cheap trip SO FAR. We made it to Vermillion Bay and headed up the highway to home when the truck started grinding . BUMMER, so I turned around and went to Dryden and the dealership where I got the truck. While I was waiting for the wife to come back from the toilet I made the mistake of telling the owner she was looking for a new car. WRONG thing to do. Long story short, I came home with a 2006 charger , a smiling wife, and a broken truck left in Dryden to be picked up when I take the trade in car to the dealership. Cost so far , over $15,000 So much for being a big winner. 2 days later, the dealership calls, the truck will cost , worst case scenario, $4300. We go tomorrow to get the truck, pay for the car and I hope we have no trouble in the near future, because this trip broke me!!

you got to have a lot of faith in the people you lease the land from. Up here in the Kenora area, several people from Winnipeg leased land and built cottages on reserve property and had long term leases, these worked well for a number of years and then the band council changed and they gave the leaseholders a few months to either move the cottages or walk away from them because they arbitrarily decided to cancel the leases even though years remained on them. Do your research on the location and property holders before you spend big

You should know Dan, this weather was ordered just for you since it isn't often we get a root administrator from OFC up here.

being from the northwest I don't have much of an opportunity to hit BPS. BUT when I had to be in Toronto last year, thanks to directions on how to get there from the board members here, I discovered that BPS was just minutes away from my aunts apartment where I was staying. Needless to say, I had to go and see the store and the stuff they carried. I would have been more impressed if I hadn't been to Cabelas in Owatanna just a few months earlier. The store is nicely laid out and it was easy to find some of the things I needed but since I was flying home I couldn't get too much. On my way to the airport (flying out of Sault Ste Marie) I stopped at the service centre on the 400 north that has the bait shop and I asked the guy at the bait shop how BPS had affected his business. They told me, it really hadn't. In fact they told me they regularly supply BPS with minnows and since they were open early and BPS didn't open until 10am they did a good business with fishermen who wouldn't wait til the 10am time came.

as a few have mentioned, stand in the front of the boat to see if it is stable, let me give you a caution I learned first hand. put some counter weight in the rear. I fixed up a 14 foot tinnie with the green stik to seal the rivets and I took it to the creek by my place the day after the ice went out. I tied it to a tree and pushed it out into the creek to check for leaks, seeing none, I went to the bow to grab the rope and the bloody thing lifted at the rear end and over I went into the icy water. this wouldn't have happened if I had put my motor on it. it is one thing to see if it is sturdy enough to have a deck when it's on the trailer, the real test is in the water.
-
gee, you had a serious question. I thought you'd be asking "Do I really HAVE to file" or Can I claim my boat as a dependent, since it costs me a fortune?"
-
ok, i'll bite, what was that supposed to be?

Wow, that is one ugly fish, why would anyone want to keep that?
