  1. beauty fish. I had a very soggy baseball tourney today. Did hit a creek this evening with the kids but ours only has chubs and shiners...not as glamorous as your trout
  2. wow that many years making a living fishing. Good for them!
  3. never heard of him but I read both articles...sounds like he was quite the character
  4. douG back....wow. Nice to see some of these originals rearing their (ugly?) head
  5. wow...that is all I have to say!
  6. Tell him its fake news....media can't be trusted
  7. I don't know...looks awesome to me. Lack of fish? Oh well it happens
  8. right on! Congrats on the first musky. Go big or go home...I would be going for the 10 points without a doubt
  9. Well it took a while but had a few days off work this past week and finally got the boat in the water. Had to take a bit of a test run before a Friday/Saturday morning musky adventure, so took a quick run down to Lake Ontario to see if the boat would work. Since it did...trolled around for a few hours. I don't do a lot of salmon fishing, but do have some dipseys, couple of spoons and a flasher/fly rig. Managed 3 small salmon in a few hours, and then caught what my friend referred to as "a big stinky laker". Considering my first laker was caught thru the ice a few months ago, and weighed maybe a pound, this was quite a different fish. Caught it on the flasher fly at around 120 feet down over 170 (this is the king kong of dipseys...not the usual one). Once in the boat I understood why he called it "stinky". Lakers have a smell all of their own! With the boat running well, went up to Kawarthas for Friday and then Saturday morning...hoping to land some fish that are known for their stink (not to mention teeth and slime). Tried 2 lakes I had never fished before, so it was a bit of a guessing game where to start etc. Day one we managed 5 muskies and day 2 landed another 3. Nothing huge, biggest were 43 and 42 inches. Almost all the musky we caught still looked pretty beat up from the spawn. Took a few hours on each lake before we found em, but once we did the fish cooperated! Pretty satisfying going to a new body of water, struggling to find the pattern, but then getting rewarded eventually. Water in Kawarthas was 66 in am then 68 by early afternoon...this was the same on both lakes. Here are a coupla pics:
  10. Nice to hear from you again, hope your trip back goes great!
  11. tried a new lake on Thurs and another new lake Friday, got some on each lake (kawarthas) hope to post a report later
  12. hope to try this week end
  13. and there is my worry....had to fight tooth and nail for my Dodge "rebate" I was promised. Was a very stressful experience. Not interested in having to fight for what should be an automatic
  14. with Goodman on this mid level package it only was getting a few hundred bucks rebate....the carrier rebate came to 2500! Not sure how trustworthy that is
  15. Once again calling on the varied experiences and knowledge we are blessed with here at OFC. Have been living without air conditioning the past few years and its time to bite the bullet and install central air. Since my furnace is approx 15 years old figured best to replace it at the same time. Got a quote from Carrier and quote from Goodman. The quote from Carrier comes in a bit higher (few hundred bucks) but after all the rebates they offer, actually comes in around 1500 less. Anyone have experience with either of these brands? More importantly...anyone have experience with these rebates! Just been thru a horrible experience with Dodge involving promised money back. DO NOT want to go thru something like that again. Both furnaces are 80,000 btus and both ACs are 2.5 ton 16 seer. Both also come with 10 year warranty on parts and labour. Carrier being offered by Aire One (a chain), Goodman being offered by a small local independant.
  16. Awesome day. Can't believe the kids spend the day in the boat. After 10 minutes my kids just ask "can we go fast now?"
  17. Wow that is one creepy looking best. Congrats on the bizarre catch
  18. little bit of work (and a bit of prop damage) certainly paid off
  19. a 7.7! you have outdone me
  20. Previously I had asked about the possibility of skiing behind an 8 hp outboard on a 12 foot tinny....well, we gave it a shot this past Monday. Success! We had a 8 year old 12 year old and even a 13 year old successfully ski for the first time. It was a bit of a challenge for the 13 year old to get up but on around his 6 th try or so he was up skiing around the lake. We had the kids crouching in shallow water at the shoreline while a friend kept their tips up. So there you have it...kids can waterski behind a 8 hp! Good times.
  21. Was fishing Belle River a couple years ago and picked up a real estate guide at good ol Edna's diner....I was stunned to see houses available for 160K. That would not even buy you a lot in Guelph never mind a structure to live in
  22. Hoping for the same! Maybe fire up the 90 Yamaha some night this week. Its 5 years old this year, here's hoping this year's start is as easy as the previous ones. Also have a 2003 Nissan 8 hp...it gave me grief last year (Freshtrax got it going for me)...hope this year is less eventful for getting that one going!
  23. sheesh...release the hounds? That's nuts. Why not just come over to you and talk about it...if it truly is private, and you guys refuse to go...THEN release the hounds
  24. Knew it had to be Walter. Guess they train their staff to play good cop bad cop...he gets to pretend to be the good cop...then screws you over like the rest. Well if you go to court I would be pleased to help any way I can. Do me a favour...name Waterloo Dodge in the suit as well. They know FULL WELL what is going on, yet they continue to sell this warranty knowing their clients are getting screwed. I would be pleased to join you in court or do whatever it takes to show these people you can't treat people like this
