good luck! I helped a friend push one through before. Found it tough to push it through the skin on the other side so I took a knife and made an opening on the far side. I thought it worked great! He didn't seem to enjoy it though. We would have gone to hospital but that would have cut into fishing time. Couple of ice cubes, couple of shots of JD (for both of us) and it was all over.
save your energy for bigger battles. Not sure any breakage on 4 lb test could be considered "inappropriate". I figure stuff like that breaks if you look at it funny.
People are talking about hammering some re-bar down etc - what are these covers usually made of? I know at our cottage the cover (which we leave exposed) is plastic. I'd think a piece of re-bar would go right through it..keep hammering till you hear a splash!
too funny. I actually had a worse experience than "pill-giving" with my cat. Had to give it the tomato juice bath after a skunk encounter. Crazy little jerk got loose while covered in red sauce. There was a huge red smear when I was finally able to tackle him!
Glad I read this. We just bought a place with a septic and I was wondering the exact same thing about finding the lid. I'll see what the current owners can tell me about its location. Hope you are able to find yours!
hahaha I have seen some people over there before...wasn't too pretty.
does that mean they are quite deep? They actually look pretty shallow and flat. Would be a shame if a bass or two found their way in there
my sentiments exactly. Freshwater fish taste pretty much like dirt to me. Even walleyes get a "get out of jail free" card in my boat! Nice walleye's by the way out of St. John. I was also unaware there was a slot there...but when you don't keep any fish its not really on your mind!
that is just nasty. Don't let your kids play down there! My biggest fear playing near streams when I was a kid was a crayfish pinching my toe or a leech getting a meal out of me...not stepping on a used needle
Whatever you do, don't call Sunset Cove to find out! Doesn't it seem that when the fishing is lousy, Lodge owners will always tell you how well the guys did the week before. Just once I want to be that guy the week before!
