  1. don't really care as long as its not the Heat. Know more about the Bulls because we see them more often plus they have that goofy salami and cheese guy over there. Whoever wins the East will take it (you don't hear that too often!)
  2. can't help you, but at least there's a lot of land to choose from between those 2 places!
  3. is this kind of an "emporer's new clothes" thing...because if it is I agree that is a wonderful specimen for that species
  4. centimetres?
  5. ...and here I was excited to get to slam someone for out of season fishing (naturally assuming local)and instead I have to compliment a great set of photos...nuts
  6. very nice, when are they installing the console?
  7. yup, its that time of year when you drink a "filtered" beer...filtered by the bug net that's over your head. It works great drinking straight through the screen
  8. I think she ate some of the mushrooms the pig was supposed to guard.
  9. ...up to 35 inches...most we got were your typical hammerhandles, but every once in a while got a decent one
  10. I've gone up there a few times. We've never even bothered to leave Gravenhurst Bay because we were in a pretty small boat and were catching some decent fish right there. Not the giants you may get elsewhere, but we caught pike up to 35 inches just fishing weedy drop-offs and flats
  11. haha great story. I'm waiting for the day that happens to me...although considering I almost never fish for anything smaller than a musky I better not hold my breath. I guess you have to catch a bluegill/crappie/pickerel etc first for this to happen!
  12. don't worry about the kids. I've driven with mine at that age to Myrtle Beach and the kids are fine for the first 10 hours. It's the last 6 that are a bugger! Pop in "Barnie" and you're good to go (although you will want to kill someone after 5 minutes)
  13. thanks guys. I've used that Balsam launch lots of times (to fish Balsam), just didn't know how long it would take to get to mitchell from there as I only have 4 or 5 hours to fish so time is valuable. Boss, how did you guys do? Although I'm pretty close to 100% catch and release, I will definitely do what I can to keep a pike or 6.
  14. After careful consideration and input from OFC'er's I'm heading to Mitchell lake to hopefully clear some pike out of there. Not sure where the launch is but don't expect it will be too tough to find. Any idea which side of 48 I should be fishing on? Can I actually use the big motor on this lake or will it be all trolling motor all the time.
  15. big ol nightcrawler hooked one time through the head, fished weightless
  16. she's still with you after a trip like that and talking about buying a boat???You must put a ring on that
  17. buy new house with existing deck
  18. man oh man lots of variables! sounds like the people who installed it a few years back will be getting a call!
  19. thanks for all the tips. Sounds like we're going to give Mitchell a shot
  20. I hear west bay in balsam has a heavy pike concentration. Is Balsam even open for pike? I'm liking the thought of Mitchell, and if that doesn't work it would be nice to know we could scoot over to Balsam
  21. Told my buddy to come up this week-end for some early season pike and we'd try Gloucester Pool or Sparrow or somewhere within an hour of Barrie. Just happened to check the regs., and I see season opens 2nd Saturday in May, and this Saturday is actually the first! My bad. Any suggestions on where we could go within an hour or 2 of Barrie? I thought I heard that some lakes have exceptions and are open all year? From what I could tell it looks like GBay is open as of this Saturday.
  22. flame on pilot is plenty strong, but when I switched it to burner, flame on the burner wasn't that strong and then shut off after approx 10 seconds. Livinisfishin if you want to work out some kind of arrangement as Wayne has suggested let me know! Cottage is a little south of Parry Sound so not too far away, full of small pike and big bass.
  23. sounds like a $100 service call is in my future
  24. its vented directly to the outside via a 15 foot pipe going straight up to the ceiling
  25. At one point I did leave the pilot on for about an hour, thinking air in the line might be the issue. Got the firelace going again, after 10m seconds it shut off...that was when I said screw it and shut the pilot off as well and went back to Barrie! Would an hour of the pilot being on be long enough to clear air out of the lines (tank is maybe 40 feet from the fireplace)
