  1. Perfect time to be shootin them !!!!!! Seen about a dozen last weekend on a lake east of Bancroft too !!!! There's more & more of them every year for sure !!!!
  2. The bottom line is "corn gas is garbage gas" !!!!! My 2012 Chevy truck is designed to run on it it even says E85 which is 15% garbage but other than my truck I don't run regular corn garbage gas in anything if I can help it in my outboard my snowblower weed water leaf blower whatever else I have I always put premium and I know that it can be deceiving for sure but I had a discussion with a a fuel rep for Canadian tire gas plus and he says that Canadian tire premium gas has no ethanol in it whatsoever but yes the station I use in Lindsay has a shared pump too so yes I guess there might be some in the hose and can cross contaminate it I know there is a sure that shows you all the stations that carry what kind of gas but I think it's cool that there is some quick & easy ways to know if it's ethanol in it thanks for all the tips & info for sure !!!!! Garbage corn gas sucks!!! It doesn't even smell like gas anymore !!!
  3. Well done brian !!!! Cool !!!! Great vid too !!!! Cheers man
  4. It's alwYs a good day out in the blue zone !!!! Where the steelies love to put on a show !!!! Nice fish you got for sure !!!!! Cheers !!!! Thanks for sharing !!!!
  5. That's awesome !!! Saw her on the news !!!!! What a piece of history !!!!!! And yes she is ours forever !!!! A national treasure !!!!! )
  6. Yesterday up in the Bancroft area I saw smallies busting bait on the surface early in the morning & very late in the day just before sunset !!!! They really got active for about an hour I had surface temps as high as 72 in shallow 7-10 foot bays and main lake temps at around 65 !!!! Wow .... That sun has warmed the lake up a bit and yes they are only surface temps but it has not been windy for a few days so once that mixes up should turn them on a bit !!!! And speaking of loons I seen my first grey throat loon of the year yesterday !!!! So they are atarting to make their way down from way up north !!!! They make a stop in sturgeon lake. For a week or 2 every year and there will be a few dozen around and just like majic they disappear and sure enough within 2-3 days the first skim of ice is on the lake !!!! It's amazing they know when it's time to leave !!!!! So we always know when the ice is Comming as they just vanish !!!! You will see lots one day & gone the next !!!!!! I love the loons as well !!!! Cheers
  7. Well done guys !!!! Some real nice greezers !!!! A few fat tanks !!!!! Looked like a stellar day !!!! Fish-on ......
  8. I have about 6 pairs ISO !! Everything from $25 amber strike kings to $250 Maui Jim's !!! Which by the way are the best glasses I have ever used I always have different color lenses and still find amber to be my fav color for most fishing conditions !!! There are many brands and styles & prices for sure try to get a pair that has sides or a arm that covers the side of the glasses so you don't get glare Comming on from the side !!! Make sure they are UVA & B as it's your eyes and the more protection the better
  9. I never have and never will ASK permission to go fishing !!!! I have told my gf when we first got together that "I was an addict fishean before you came along " and that "I will be an addict fishermen long after you are gone" !!!!! So that will never change !!!! But I have had friends that have to ask permission to do anything well that doesn't go over well with me that's for sure !!!! All I ask is that if there is some commitment I need to attend or she would like me to do something to give me plenty of warning days or even a week or 2 in advance !!! As my weekends from march till November are always booked up for fishing !!!! And then it's snowmobiling and she is used to that now ...... So it's all good
  10. i was in north haliburton highlands last weekend and the water temp was 59 degrees, and got a few very nice smallies but had to work for them but the warm temps this week should hold it at least steady for a few days...the green fish should be a little more eager with the sunny warm days....and the brown fish are busting bait on the surface too.....ahhh...i love fall fishing
  11. I liked the weather so much I feel a sick day Comming for tommorow !!!!! This is our Indian summer for sure !!!!! I hear brown & green fish calling my name !!!!! Fish-on .....woo hoo
  12. Nice tank smallie !!!! They fight insane in the colder water !!!!! Cheers !!!!!!
  13. Seafoam is awesome and I use all their products and have for years !!!! It works in everything including my snowmobile snowblower weedeater you name it !!!!! It's great stuff and regularly run it in my 50hp Yamaha four stroke outboard !!!! It was just on sale in Canadian tire this week for $10.99 a can !!!!
  14. It depends but if want to get really good at trolling male the weed edge on GPS or drop a marker bouy down and get a decent trolling cob and run a offshore inline board right up to the weed edge and your boat will be 50 or so feet away and it will be hammer time !!!!! The walleye will not even know you are there !!!! You can also use this set up for trolling over shoals & humps !!!!! It's stealth mode and will increase your catch rate about 100% !!!! Or you can position your boat a ways away and work the area with a bucktail if he is in the weeds or thou roughly cast the area with a jerkbait ... Many ways to achieve this !!!! Even just trolling walleyes will move away from the boat and if you have a inline running 50-75 feet away they will sometimes hammer it !!!! Pm me if you want .... Lots of options on this one ....
  15. I read that article as well on capt dan !! I think he is also the fisherman that has caught salmon down 400feet .... Insane but they will at times go to crazy depths he is a wealth of knowledge for sure !!!! I will try to find it as well ?? Hmmm
  16. Awesome !!! I posted a chart showing a walleyes vision here a few years ago and it was done by scientists quite interesting how complicated a walleyes vision really is !!! They can see many many many times better than a human can see different light waves !!!! Thanks for sharing and yes many variables in that too as to light penetration in different waters
  17. Glad it was caught early Lew !!! I'm sure everything will be ok !! And looking forward to hearing the good news when your wife is recovered and conrats on your anniversary !!! Things will be fine stay positive
  18. Well I was fishing in a 20ft Lund pro v so it doesn't matter what the wind is doing but ya it was blowing big time !!! The wind just turns the big brown fish on even more !!!
