i did similar to above... 3/4" plywood. cut to the shape you need, and used stainless screws like the original had. i did a coat of fiberglass resin (to waterproof) then carpet.. I bolted the motor bracket on, and never had an issue.

Very clean! thanks for the tip... I have a Terrova and the first time i used the spot lock, it did a 360 and tore my external tranducer cable apart! I went back to the built in transducer, but gave up the down imaging to do so.... Looks like this would have solved the problem!

Keep in mind it could be the charger too. I had a Nautilus one go one me two years ago. Wouldn't fully charge, and gave false readings. Exchanged at CT and was good to go. Haven't had a problem since.

I've never had an issue with the tails. I actually just broke the lip off the original one i bought when they first came out.... it was my fault tho... Overall I'm impressed with the quality. Mine have taken a beating over the years....

I've had great success with these for pike. lots of different ways to fish it, but the fish will dictate how they want it of course... slow and steady, burned over weeds, or similar to a jerk bait. I find a lot will hit when i give it a 2-3 second pause. From local lakes, to Toronto Island to the Kawarthas, its one of the first lures i throw for pike. Bass seem to like it too... Def worth having at least one in the arsenal...lol

lots of great suggestions already. One thing we found very helpful was a gravity fed water purifier. Not sure if drinking water is available, but on our fly in it wasn't. I believe it was a Katadyn, and we hung that up and drained it into one of those clear folding plastic water jugs. like the boys already mentioned, premake as much food as you can. frozen lasagna, frozen pasta sauce, meatloaf, instant hot cereal, etc when/if the bite slows, jig head tipped with 1/2 worm dragged on the bottom always produced for us....

We've gone with Air-Dale the last 3 yrs. A lot of options as far as accommodations and lakes go. We always book with a portage lake option, and haven't been disappointed. Their prices on the website are really elevated. I bought a bulk lot of fishing equipment that had a bunch of their "seeker" series reels. good reels, but not worth the $150 they have them listed on the website for. Amazon has them for $99. Home Depot might have them too... they had a selection of round ones in the fastener isle. in with furniture building accessories. Most fastener or industrial supply places (fastenal, bolts plus, acklands, brafasco,spaneur, etc) should either have them, or access to them....

I've had good luck with these guys in the past. www.windrovers.com they cover quite a few areas. Find something thats available/in your budget, then check on the lake to see what species it has....

while fishing for smallies with a Berkley warpig, i had one break me off. i was wondering the exact same thing. Felt bad knowing it would be swimming around with that thing stuck in its mouth. Few mins later, 10' from the boat, she jumps wildly out of the water, shaking and twisting, and successfully shaking the warpig clear. I could hear it rattle the whole time...and heard the rattle and "plop" as the lure landed a few feet away. i was happy to see that they could actually shake out and free themselves of a lure. never seen that before. I've wondered how much today's alloys and higher quality metals in fish hooks makes a difference? I've caught a few pike in the kawarthas with nice shiny jig heads embedded in their mouths. No way to tell how long they have been there. But they healed over nice, and didn't seem to affect the pike very much....

I've seen it happen with cold fronts or pressure changes. Slow dragging crawlers or dead sticking a minnow in their face was the only way we could seem to get any sort of reaction. other than that, they were content sulking on the bottom...lol.
