  1. We stayed at the Pestana in Cayo Santa Maria 2 yrs ago, and there was a few spots from the beach you could fish from. Just ask the guys from the kitchen for some shrimp(tip or trade for fishing equipment)....
  2. We stayed at the Pestana in Cayo Coco 2 yrs ago. Brought some gear to fish with, then to give away when we were done. Hooked up with a cook from the Hotel who was into fishing. We walked 10min to a point on the beach with some coral and other structure. just using shrimp as bait (the cook supplied, raw) we caught smaller fish all morning! Heavy weights, leaders and circle hooks did the trick. Few follows on jerk baits and spinners, but it seemed like shrimp was the ticket. we just waded out (with our shoes on, that coral is sharp!) and long bombed the shrimp as far as we could. Most fish were 1-5lbs and the cook was more than happy to take them home to his family. From what he was saying, line, leaders and hooks are in demand. We left them everything but our rods and reels.
  3. i got caught up yesterday. watched all 3. great competition with some top notch multi-species anglers. Paul and Taro are hilarious, polar opposite personalities in the same boat for 39hrs!! lmao.
  4. take good care of our baby! lol. Glad she went to a good home....
  5. i paid a guy cash who owned his own spray booth. its all about the prep work. He suggest an automotive primer rated for aluminum. Took it down to bare aluminum. On top of the primer we just used automotive paint and clear coat. That was on my 14' lund 5yrs ago. No peeling and no fading. Got a print shop to do new decals and she was good as new! I got my paint and primer at D&W autobody supplies (cambridge and Guelph area), but any autobody place should carry what you need.
  6. I've gone out with Taro Murata for Musky/Walleye 3-4 times now...according to his twitter account, he is still crushing bass. Might be worth a call? Very knowledgeable, entertaining guy.... http://fishcity.tv/
  7. I have found a bit of that Pemtex black gasket maker around the plastic caps keeps them in place nicely. A quick slice with an exacto knife makes it easy to remove when its rebuild time...
  8. Just placed my order for pick up with the extra $10 off for email sign up....thanks boys!
  9. try Sayal Electronics if they have any locations close to you. I had good luck there finding wire and connectors when I did a complete interior. They had light stuff and the heavy battery stuff too.
  10. I've been out with Taro. Well worth the money if you want to learn. I booked him for Musky, but decided to fish walleye first. I'm not even a big fan of walleye, but we hit 25 or so in an hour. Cant complain about that!
  11. II Agree with Fish4Eyes, stainless is a must. I found it WAY cheaper at any fastener centre... Bolts Plus, Fastenal, etc. Before I found that out, I actually found Home Hardware cheaper than the big box stores for stainless hardware. I built a casting deck in my 14'er, and even the stainless hinge for the trap door was half of what the box stores wanted at a fastener centre. I also did a coat of fiberglass gel coat on the plywood before I put the carpet on. The previous owner supposedly did the floors 2 yrs ago, and they were already saggy and starting to rot. It was a fun little project, but not one I want to do every few yrs.....
  12. I picked up some outdoor carpet with a rubber backing from Rona. Grey/Black, low pile so hooks wouldn't get buried. applied a good carpet glue with a trowel and 2yrs later its still good. Some larger boat dealers/Marinas might have some stock, but most places I called had to order it in.
  13. I just had one made for my Crestliner 16 SC. Had it done at Garys Custom Marine in Cambridge. Very impressed. totally agree, you get what you pay for!
  14. Had mine done by Power Vac (Cambridge) Was very happy with their service and attention to detail. He pulled out sections of the duct to show me the debris and filth that had collected. And that the guys who had done it before we bought the house clearly missed. He was there a few hrs and made sure all 3 floors were cleaned properly. I dont know what they pulled out of there, but air flow to the upper levels was noticeably improved. Not sure how often they say this kind of service should be done, but i would def use these guys again. They also followed up with a phone call to make sure i was satisfied.
