Karma... it is a three way street correct?
ketchenany replied to irishfield's topic in General Discussion
Wayne, your family has come a long way, I've been there a few times you know. It all gets better. I was getting a bit worried about your lack of reports; but then FAMILY ALWAYS comes first. Jen seems to be amazing in her progress. Our thoughts are always with you. We are coming up to a time of year where we all reflect on the past and the future, this year for most hopefully it's family; our loss and our new additions. -
Been there ice fishing. An amazing place for sure, Stayed in one of the remote cabins, Ted brought us in and Arctic Cat used to groom trails. Great fishing.

ketchenany replied to GBW's topic in General Discussion
Since we have no pics, you didn't get one! Yes it has happened 'dropping' (set the depth on a 'stick' and drop it) a Williams ice fishing and was taken on the way down, should have went home right there and then! -
GAS here in Kleinburg/Woody is 116.3 to 118.5 I played Baseball at that school, nothing like playing on pavement!

At Spadina and Dundas it was either for the burlesque theatre or the corn beef next door LOL. I had a part time job at the La Salle across the street. Was allowed to cross the street!

They say it's dropping 3.8 cents in the GTA (and behyond)
-
Well, here we go again. Yesterday's futures markets saw a clear drop of more than 12 cents a gallon or 3 cents a litre for gasoline. Normally this would be reflected at the pumps overnight, less the routine withhold by Canadian refiners of a penny, more or less, because they can. You pay for this clear lack of competition at the refinery level in Canada. No surprise there. But it gets better Despite initial wholesale trends among most of the major players, that late yesterday afternoon were settling on a 2.2 cent a litre drop, Esso decided to defy this undeniable market signal and actually raise prices, which all others then followed. Do you need any more proof of who dominates the downstream price structure in the GTA ?

Hang in there Dave. Our thoughts are with you. I've been there many times and know what you are going through. -
I'd like to send you and article by John Kerr on the "The Spinnerman" OOD April '99, a good friend of mine. A real good read and brings back lot of memories, pm me your email, it's a hoot to read. Solo, great looking fish.

thanks for posting Solo, another kid who will have a very fulfilling life ahead of him with a dad like you. I still remember when my daughter caught her first trout at Glenn Haffy, many years later she discovered shoes and boys and advertising, and now a proud mother of a fine young man that hopefully I can take back and he will get his first one. when I do it I'll bring my camera and try to find the spot where her picture was taken.

Roy, If you get some real chestnuts try this. ROLLED VEAL STUFFED WITH CHESTNUTS print Liguria claims the most celebrated recipe for stuffed breast of veal, with a filling of veal, sweetbreads, pistachios, herbs, cheese, and hard-boiled eggs. In Lazio, cooks stuff the meat with a filling based on chestnuts, which have been grown in the region for centuries. 1 lb chestnuts 1 boneless breast of veal, about 2 lbs salt and freshly ground black pepper 5 or 6 slices prosciutto 1 egg 2 tablespoons fine dried bread crumbs about 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil 1 clove garlic, quartered lengthwise 1 fresh rosemary sprig, broken into pieces 1 cup dry white wine To start your Rolled Veal Stuffed with Chestnuts: Using a paring knife, cut an X in the flat side of each chestnut. Place the chestnuts in a saucepan, add water to cover, bring to a boil, and cook for 35 minutes. Drain, rinse under cold water, and peel away the hard outer shell and thin, furry skin beneath it. Set aside. Preheat oven to 500ΠF. Lay the veal breast on a work surface and season with salt and pepper. (Use salt sparingly, as prosciutto can be salty.) Lay the prosciutto slices over the veal in a single layer. In a bowl, beat the egg until blended and season with salt and pepper. Add the chestnuts and bread crumbs and stir to combine. Place the mixture in the center of the veal breast, roll up the veal into a cylinder, and tie securely, including the ends, with kitchen string to hold the stuffing in place. Pour about 1 tablespoon of the olive oil into the bottom of a shallow roasting pan. Put the veal in the pan and season with salt and pepper. Place the garlic and rosemary pieces along the top of the veal roll and then drizzle the remaining olive oil over the top. Place in the oven and roast for 1 hour. Remove the pan from the oven and pour the wine over the veal. Cover the pan tightly with aluminum foil, return to the oven, and cook until the meat is very tender when pierced with a knife, 10 to 15 minutes longer. Remove from the oven and transfer the veal roll to a platter. Let rest in a warm place for 15 to 20 minutes. Skim off the fat from the pan juices and discard. Reheat the juices. Cut the veal roll into slices 1/2 inch thick. Spoon the pan juices over the top and serve. Yield: 4 servings

All was good since he was standing next to us at the door greeting guests. Even she was happy (my grand daughter) to see me get in!(her father runs the place . . .
