  4. I've used the covers that come with the five gallon pails that I get my grapejuice from. Used the green or red ones so they can be seen in the snow. And if they happen to freeze in they can take quite he beating in getting them out.

  6. A beer cap! Many years ago an operator on Simcoe required a deposit to bring beer on the ice. If you didn't bring back every bottle and cap you lost the deposit. A cap fell down the hole and deposit was ALMOST gone . . . I always carry a powerful magnet and sure enough after bouncing it off the bottom I caught it. Lesson learned, always carried extra caps after that just in case.
  7. Condolences to you and your family.

  11. WE back onto a ravine and I have the Deers but with that we also have the coyotes, this seems to have been a very good year for them as we have really heard them and I have also seen them a few time. Where abouts in Woody? We had a bunch of rabbits in our yard, north of Rutherford and west of Islington and all of the sudden they disapeared, never heard any C but sure is strange, unless they ended up on a Barbie

  19. I have heard that some of these ponds are 'stocked" by waterfowl . . meaning that when they are feeding where fish have spawned some eggs will stick to them and then transported to a new location where they hatch, but the conditions have to be right.

  21. Yes Bill the Geen is one hell of a cold place at this time of year. When we were young and stupid, we'd make that trek during the week after doing an 8 hour midnight shift (just like in the article I sent you, and we were those loogans) One time I built a huge fire on shore got my self warmed up, when it was noticed it cleared the river and I went fishing all by myself and managed to get one before they came back. NIce looking fish. A
