This is probabally going to sound like a dumb question, but where can I buy a spud? I'd like to check out Scugog out of Caserea tomorrow but there is no way I'm going out without one. Course if someone wanted to tell me about a safer lake that I could go for crappie I wouldn't be opposed.

With Simcoe getting colder and closer to being fishable I started thinking, what happened to the bait shop that was torn down when they turned the rest stop on the 400 south of King road into an ON go? I used to love picking up minnows and a few other random supplies from there before heading out for a day of perchin'.

Got out on Buck Lake today in Huntsville. No fish but got to try out the gear. The ice was safe from shore to shore as well. A good 5 to 6 inches in every spot.

I'm thinking Buck or Fox lake in Huntsville tomorrow. Does anyone know if these have public access? If not I might give Lake Vernon a look.

I was looking into Scugog but it looks iffy. I'm trying to figure out how far North I have to go to be safe. Would be nice to make a trip this saturday around 2 hours.

Visit Chad and Joey a few more times in North Bay. In the new year when Bancroft lakes freeze over I had a tip on where to land my first laker (I hope). and as everyone else, waiting for Simcoe to freeze. I'm making a list of lakes I want to hit up though.

I made the road trip to North Bay this past weekend and it was worth it. The drive is pretty smooth too, roads wern't bad.

I think its the Bob and Doug Mackenzie version. On the 6th day of christmas my true love gave to me a 6 pound lake trout.

Oh man, looks like I picked the wrong day to come out. Seriously though nice catches. Totally worth the crummy weather.

Had a blast today. Was a pleasure to meet you Chad and Joey and the other guys. Good conversations had, lots of info was shared and I got to try out a few of my toys (love ice fishing with a flasher). And got to see some splake. Can't wait to get back up to North Bay again.

I have not, but I've had 4 and 5 pound walleye when I was younger and they definatly had a different taste. Its all a matter of opinion though. I like the 1-2 pounders.
