Jigger, from this board, showed me a trick he uses, and I though it was pretty cool. He puts that stick on velcro on the bottom of his camera.......it sticks perfectly to the carpet on the bow of his boat......hit the timer.....grab the fish and presto....your in business. I kinda stole his idea, but I put a piece of velcro on the bow of my boat, where the trolling motor is......and my camera sticks on there great. Its hard to get it off.........but its the perfect hight for a standing shot.... You still have to take the time to set up your shot before you get a fish on, but it works pretty good, and no room lost to the tripod.... Sinker

The floor looks great!! Any before pics? Nice lures too......beauties! Now take a break.....holy...your making me tired!! Sinker

More Public Access to Lake Simcoe Disappearing
Sinker replied to ranger520vx's topic in General Discussion
No, that's not what I"m saying at all. BEFORE these people purchase waterfront property beside PUBLIC ACCESS, this is something they should think about, because it is going to happen! There are slobs everywhere........same deal if you buy a house beside a park.......you'll have people tossing garbage all over......what are YOU going to do......close the park? I see it all the time on the lakes I fish as well.......homeowners complaining that fisherman are leaving garbage and making too much noise, early in the morning.......well........why did you buy a house right beside the most popular boat launch on the lake? DUH.......so they rally to close the boat launch....... These access points were there before they bought the property....... People with that mentality get my blood boiling. Sinker -
More Public Access to Lake Simcoe Disappearing

That is something you should think about before purchasing a home beside a lake access!!!! I know if I was going to buy a home next to an access, I would EXPECT to be cleaning up after fisherman. As a matter of fact, I'd prolly be out there shooting the $hit with them......telling them to keep it clean. Like has been said, the access was there long before any homes were put there.......if you don't like the garbage and noise......there's lots of homes for sale elsewhere!!!!! Its people like you that get our accesses shut down.....! Sinker -
My Boat Keys Were Stolen Too !!!!! grrrrrrrr
Sinker replied to fishindevil's topic in General Discussion
Man, that sucks!!! Its one thing to get your car stolen.....and lose your keys.....but the keys to your boat.......that totally sucks!! I dropped all my keys in Sturgeon lake one time......my wallet was with them. That sucked too......no keys to get home.....no ID......it took me a while and a few $ to get it all back!! Hope it all works out bud! Sinker -
Just take the spool of line, put it on the floor with the label side up, and reel it on your SPINNING reel. Shouldn't have a problem, unless you put too much on. Baitcasting reels, put the pencil thru and reel it on your reel the same way it comes off the spool. Sinker

Just south of minden, they have re-done hwy #35. I see lots of people there getting rocks. With the new excavations on the sides of the hwy, there are lots of exposed quartz deposits. Sinker

Its only gonna get thicker for the next week at least......maybe 2 weeks. With all the snow melted off.....we've got some prime ice making conditions. I don't really care what you guys want to do or say, but I know I'll be on the ice till mid april at least. I am every year......hopefully this year I'll be out till late april.....even into may would be just fine by me!! All you nay sayers can sit home for the next month and whine about us "crazy" fisherman on the thin ice....... ........... P.S......I've never "sunk".......haven't even got my feet wet. Sinker
-
WEll last week there was 18" of ice and not much snow. I don't think 18" has melted by now..........your good to go. Just use a bit of common sense.....wear rubber boots. Sinker

My New truck almost swam with the whitefish ... ALMOST
Sinker replied to cityfisher's topic in General Discussion
Ya, you want to check for water in the diffs. If that freezes, and its full of water/oil, you can crack the housings open......then your in to big bucks. Much cheaper to get a few jugs of oil and change it out now...........its gonna get cold again in the next few days!! Sinker -
If your talking PRIMARILY ice fishing. Get a sled......can't be beat on the ice, I don't care what you say. A 4 wheeler is WAY more versitile though.....hands down........year round use, and lots of toys for them. Sleds are cheap. The best way to go is to get a nice wheeler, and a used cheap utility sled. Best of both worlds. You don't need a fancy sled for icefishing. I run a 96' 340 2 up ,and have never had a problem on the ice. Cheap in all aspects.....purchase/maintenance/insurance/plates etc. Next toy for me is gonna be an ATV though..... Sinker

Well......ummm........NO......LOL There is a definite current in the great lakes. If your heading into the current, your lure is going to be turning faster. If you get a fish on that pass, then turn the boat around and make another pass with the current......your lure won't be turning the same speed, and fish might not like it.....but the boat is moving the same speed on both passes. Fish will come out of thier temp range to feed, but if your lure is going too fast/slow, they won't take it. I have limited rigging experience, but the times I have been out, the down speed was the one thing we really paid attention too. I was amazed at the difference from top to bottom. We even pulled the unit to the surface and compared its reading to the GPS speed........sure enough.....it was bang on!! Sinker

The thing is, its pretty light. I beleive around 600lbs. retract the wheels and slide it out and away you go. The tracks are the way to go for lots of deep snow though, but I think even if you got it stuck, it would be easy to get unstuck.......easier than a 4 wheeler maybe.......what a nice rig for early and late season though.....when there is not much snow!! I cast with my right, switch hands while its in the air, and I'm reeling before it hits the water. No sinking spinner baits for me. Like I said, you get used to it. I do lose a bit of time when I reel in, then go to cast quick.....I have to change hands........but its pretty quick.......you don't even notice it. Icefishing, I jig with my right.......get a hit......set with my right........switch hands.....and reel with my right.....the odd time if I'm wearing mitts, I'll mess up getting the line tight when my mitt hits the handle, but not too often......I'm used to it, and ready for it to happen. Its all what your used to. Sinker

Had My Car Stolen From My Work Today !!!
Sinker replied to fishindevil's topic in General Discussion
Yup, that sucks man!! Nothing worse than a thief! I had a grand am stolen right from my driveway too......in Newcastle!! My dog was barking in the middle of the night.......and here I am yelling at him to shut up.. ....lol.......meanwhile, some dirtbag is stealing my car !!!! ........oh and get this......sold that house.....within the first week, the new owner had his brand new 3/4 ton chev stolen out of the same driveway......unreal!! The car was found out in Burkton....stuck in a mud hole, burnt to the ground.......the truck was never to be seen again!! It ended up being a blessing for me with my car. I got a good deal.......the guy with the truck lost $. Hope it works out for ya man, good luck!! Sinker -
Wow......maybe they took a log out of the locks? Must be quite a bit of run-off during the daytime. Thanks for the heads up, maybe I"ll take the boat for a rip Sinker

Same here.......kinda messed, but you get used to it. I don't even notice..... Sinker

Clam Fish Trap Voyager vrs Fish Trap X2
Sinker replied to TroutnMuskieHunter's topic in General Discussion
Ya, make sure to get the cover, towbar and runners. It ends up costing a bit more, but they really increase the life of your hut. Sinker -
I believe its been classed as a boat less than 10 HP. Just need a slow moving vehicle placard to drive on the road. (so I hear) Pretty slick little rig. We'll see how it holds up out there. The fishing was tough out there for me as well, but I left with one whitie and one laker, so I'm not complaining Sinker
