You got it exactly. I hunt a lot out of mine, and I do everything from downrigging, to back water bassin in mine. There aren't too many places I can't get into with a tiller. Lots of room for decoys, and lots of room for gear when fishing. If I had a console boat, it would be wrecked by now for sure, and I would have taken the lower end off my engine loooong ago. Reverse on a tiller gives you the most control there is on a boat, from weaving thru stumps in the duck marsh, to getting up rapids in rocky shallow rivers.....a tiller will do it all, and you can see exactly where that prop is at all times!! Im not sure about all those boats above, they're all nice, and I'd take any one of them in a heartbeat. What I do know is my 16' starcraft tiller takes a BEATING all year round. I've had it for 10 years nowd, I"m the second owner, and not a hitch with the hull. I fish as soon as I can get it in the water, and I was just out in it yesterday duck hunting. It won't get put away until there is absolutley no more open launches, and even then, I can launch it off a beach if I have to. I'll be keeping this boat when I upgrade, that's how much I like it!! I fish/hunt all over from lake O, to small back lakes in it! Sinker

I have the one piece camo mustang suit. Its not approved, but I don't really care. I always have proper vests in the boat anyways. All I'm concerned with is falling in and not sinking, and warmth. I've had my mustang for about 10-12 years now, and I don't think it would float as well as it should. This suit looks like a great alternative. I'd be using it for hunting ducks mainly, but if I like it better than my HH floater I use for icefishing, I'd use it for everything. Steel28, please let me know what you think!!!! Sinker

I need a new camo float suit. I don't like the new ones mustang makes, so I'm looking at options. I'd use it for mainly hunting in the fall/early winter. Arctic armour seems like the way to go......I just wonder how tough they are? Thoughts? Sinker

I have 2 abus (C3 & C4) and I repair them both at least once every season. They work good when they're working, but I wouldn't say they're reliable. The price is right for a cheapo like me though! I've had them for quite some time now.....I'd guess around 7-8 seasons. Repairs are always cheap, quick and minor, but they always break down. Sinker

Yup, talk to the landowner and see if they'll let you track your deer. 99% of the time, its no problem. That deer is 100% dead somewhere in there. I couldn't give up yet. I lost a deer once and it will never happen again!!! If you were close by, I'd offer to come help you out!! Sinker

Did you cross the river and look there too?? Did he just walk the edge of the water up or down stream?? I couldn't give up on that deer. It sounds like you hit it well enough, but they are one tough animal!! Do you have a dog, or know someone with a dog?? I've seen an untrained jack russel track and find a wounded deer......any dog will do!!! If you don't get it, the yotes are gonna have a field day on him!!! Sinker

I was there a couple weeks ago. We got hit by a hurricane, so I couldn't get out like I wanted. I did fish from shore a couple times, but I was really set up too heavy ( I wanted a cuda). We caught lots of red snappers, and a bunch of other small stuff.....it was fun, but not what I really wanted to do. If your lucky, and the weather co operates, the cuda fishing is supposed to be good. I fished from bridges with bait, but locals were pretty excited to see my white X-raps, and big POP-R's.........I traded some of my heavy gear for lighter gear with the locals that were fishing there already. They said what I had was great for cudas, but it jsut wasn't the right conditions to get them. The best time is just as the tide is going out......where I was anyways. Right at the turn, and then about an hour after, it was fast and furious with the snappers. I was using a #4 baitholder hook, with half a shrimp. I had it set up with an egg sinker, then an inline swivel, and a 16" leader to my hook. I was using 17lb line. Ask the cook at your resort for some fresh shrimp......I found it to be the best bait. I had to offer up a peso to get them, but he hooked me up pretty good for a peso I gave him all my fish, and he was very happy to accept them, and supply me with as much bait as I wanted after that I'd suggest 2 set ups, one heavy, and one med for the smaller stuff. Bring an assortment of hooks/line/sinkers, in small, and large sizes, and some larger cranks and topwaters for the cudas. The biggest help for me was the workers at the resort. Ask all of them if they fish. You can tell the ones that actually fish from the ones who "like" to fish. Keep them happy, and they will set you up with good info. I left my go to fishing guy with a nice collection of tackle when I left, and he hooked me up with primo deals on coffee/cigars/rum......fair trade if you ask me If the weather wasn't so rough when I was there, I have no doubt I would have done well on cuda's and redfish. 15ft waves make it tough to fish........I still tried anyways!! Still a great time, and I'd do it again in a second!! We were in Santa Clara BTW, fished off the causeway out to the island. 55km long, with a bridge every km. Some were productive, some not so much. We just took peddle bikes and went touring with the rods and a back pack. Have fun, and good luck!! Sinker

My buddy has a black lab as well. I've seen her make retrieves thru skim ice in mid december with no problems. If we went ice fishing and didn't take her, she'd never let him live it down!! The dog will be fine.....no worries whatsoever. The worst thing you could do is leave her at home!!! Sinker

Yup, sounds to me like you have insulation/ventilation issues in your attic. A properly vented/insulated attic shouldn't melt snow. Sinker

I always have a rod rigged with a williams whitefish ice jig in half and half hammered. Whether its the #50 or #60 depends on what I'm after. I swear I could just use that one lure all hardwater season, and catch every species of fish on it!!! Sinker

My first thoughts too

I've tried just about every different style of shoes.......but I always go back to my original set of traditionals. I find the new aluminum ones aren't big enough for deep snow, and I've broken 2 sets in the process. I've had my traditional ones for at least 20 years....no probs yet. I would however like to get a set of the Ojibway style shoes......they're nice and long. Real nice for walking long distances on lakes or open country with deep snow. Sinker
