  1. MIne will shift into forward or neutral at any rpm, but for reverse, I have to have the throttle down to the shift(slow) postition on the tiller handle for it to go. It sounds like there is a catch there that is stopping it from going into reverse. I'm curious what the lower unit oil looks like. Maybe put a few drops of oil down each cylinder and give it a few pulls. Might loosen it up enough to get it running. S.
  2. I'm very sorry for your loss, Alex. Keep your chin up. Time heals everything, and he WILL be with you ALWAYS! Have there been any more details released on what actually happened? Incredibly tragic accident. S.
  3. Is this a tiller model? It won't shift into reverse if the throttle is turned past shift. BAck the throttle off on the tiller handle, and try shifting. It also won't pull over in gear. Might be stuck in forward. Have you drained the lower unit? What did/does the oil look like? Maybe it won't shift because it has water in it, and its frozen? IMO, it is worth fixing. I have a 40HP just like it, and its bullet proof. I can't seem to kill it. I"m assuming this is a 2 cylinder, 2 stroke? You sure its a 79? Long shaft, or short shaft? I have a buddy with one that is a long shaft, tiller. I"m not sure of the year of his, but its older than mine. They are all pretty much the same. Engine is yamaha, drive is merc. Most parts for mine come from a yamaha dealer. The merc guys can never figure it out!! Great motors!! His 30hp almost keeps up to my 40...on a bit narrower hull. S.
  4. Tragic. Sincerest condolences. S.
  5. Dont forget when you build you have landscaping, water systems, septic bed, driveways, power hook ups.....the list never ends, trust me. There is always something. How far do you have to run power? How deep to drill a well? How long is your driveway? Sooooo many things to consider I had my own company for 12 years building homes, both turn key, custom, and subdivisions. I've seen all kinds of people lose thier shirt thinking they could build a house on the cheap. If you don't know what your doing, trust me when I say this, buy a house that is already built.....you don't want the headaches!! Primary reason I got out of that business!!! Good luck! S.
  6. Yep, the side by sides are great until you get to a skinny trail. They are a great machine for working around the property, or in the woods, but if your planning on using it on ATV trails, you could run into problems. My buddy has a ranger, and its a great rig for working. I use a gator at work, and again, its great, but no good for narrow trails. S.
  7. Good luck building a 4-5 bedroom house on that budget. Maybe a 3 bedroom if your lucky!! Your just not going to find what you want for that kind of cake. If you want a house that size, you need to comprimise....or in other words get something that needs work, and do it over time. S.
  8. I've built hundreds of houses, but never my own. If you know a good builder, no problem. If you don't have a connection, I would keep searching for something already built. S.
  9. Yeah, probably skimmed over enough to gather a skiff of snow, so now its even more dangerous Anyone want to bet someone goes thru it over the weekend?? S.
  10. If it ran when it was put away, it should run now. Try and fire it up. I bet it runs fine. S.
  11. The good ole williams works like a charm, eh? Nice work! S.
  12. You really stretch that ounce of syrop
  13. Any open launches
  14. Come on, you guys all know the smell NEVER gets out of your floater suit........and if it does....you need to inhale deeper S.
  15. The power head for my auger is snuggled deep in side my floater suit......doesn't even need gas....no fumes....and always starts on the first try! Super light to carry around too!! S.
  16. You guys who think this weather is great, are going to eat those words at some point. Its supposed to be winter, not spring. The sap is running in our sugar bush every day. I gotta get my ass in gear and get the gear out before I miss the best part of the run!! Its crazy! Geese are migrating, and some are sitting on nests....whats going to happen when the temps turn cold?? Its gotta have a negative effect on wildlife somehow. I don't like it, and I hope this nice weather goes away and doesn't come back till mid april!!! I pray every night for -20 temps and 3 ft of snow!!!! S.
  17. I was behind a woman in a honda civic that had the same thing happen. Lucky for me the turkey was still in pretty good shape, and she didn't want it S.
  18. My grandfather has had arthritis in his hands for as long as I can remember. He swears by WD-40. He rubs it on his hands in the morning, and before bed. He swears up and down that it is the ONLY thing that works for him. He's 89 now, and I know he's been doing it for well over 30 years, so he must be doing something right! S.
  19. He hooked me up with a great price on new tires, and I need to make another appt for some front end work. Might even give him a call tomorrow and see how busy he is. Great guy to shoot the bull with, while you get your car fixed for sure. S.
  20. Congrats on the ice lakers, Mike! Nice fish for sure!! S.
  21. Put some new blades on and I bet you'll be surprised. I've owned, at some point, pretty much every kind of hand auger. I still prefer a manual, over gas. I spend a lot of time on ice, and I've drilled a lot of holes. The only time an auger doesn't cut, is when the blades are pooched, or the blade mounts are bent. You will know when they mounts are bent, and it is hard to do. Why not start with blades and go from there. I've seen blades get pooched from grass, weeds, sand, and even frozen cigarette butts. It doesn't take much. S.
  22. Sometimes all it takes is one little bump, and they're toast. A piece of weed/sand/wood in the ice, etc. They can be finicky.Try new ones and see....at least you will know for sure whether its the blades or not. I'd bet it is. S.
  23. Nice haul!! If there is a delay, there is something wrong. There shouldn't be any at all. Turn up the ping speed, or chart speed....or the transducer is messed. Is this in flasher mode, or graph? S.
  24. put your bent top section on your buddies auger, and I bet it works fine. I'm thinking your blades took a poke when the handle got bent. I have an auger with a bent handle too, and it works fine, as long as the blades are sharp. S.
  25. That sucks man! I hope someone finds it! S.
