  1. I have a couple of the walker twistie rods. The do work good. Nice haul of eyes. Ive never even laid eyes on erie, let alone fish it. Im considering a charter there next month to check it out! S.
  2. Richmond isn't far from chilliwack. Maybe an hour or so ish. Book a trip, you won't regret it!!!! Other than the sturgeon on the Fraser, I have no desire at all to return to that part of BC. Its just another concrete jungle. Bring lots of memory for the camera, you'll use it!!! lol S.
  3. Awesome, eh? Congrats! Did it jump? My mind blew when I saw my first 4fter airborn! I couldn't believe a fish that big could jump!! S.
  4. The floating throw rope is such a joke. Have you ever tried throwing the one that comes in the orange kits? Good luck with that! My anchor rope is 100x better, and thats what I would use if I needed one. S.
  5. Your backing in too far. S.
  6. Im, not much help with the fishing, but having done that drive last month, your in for an adventure! You should be able to book a sturgeon trip on thhe fraser for your day in Van. I used STS guiding, and it was incredible! Check it out if you can. I know you like your trout/salmon, but you can catch them anywhere. Sturgeon, not so much!! Safe travels!! S.
  7. Just got back from a week away too. I think the kids had more fun fishing off the dock than in the boat to be honest. They got some good bass on the good ole hook and worm too! Funny how that works, eh? Good times regardless! S.
  8. They still mark the same fish. Don't get caught up in the fancy schmancy new gizmos. The old school graphs still work just as good at marking fish, and if you know what your looking at, you will know when its fish and not weeds or other crap down there. I use an X96 thru the ice, and I mark the exact same fish as a guy with a top of the line flasher, but I saved my self a few hundred bucks. All that said, I have a fancy unit on my boat, but solely for the GPS Mapping. Its slick as snot on a doorknob. S.
  9. I find the slick tangles a lot more, and is harder to untangle. I dont like the colour of it either, the old PP is harder to see in the water. I have one reel spooled with the sslick, and I hardly use it because of the line. S.
  10. My trailer tires take 80psi.... S.
  11. No, the tower is down, but the foundation is still there. S.
  12. Whatever they are, I'd like to catch one S.
  13. Nope, I can't stand the super slick either. S.
  14. You guys can laugh if you want, but while duck hunting lake ontario last winter, I swear we watched whales breeching the surface many miles offshore. I've seen whales many, many times, and what we saw sure looked to be whales. You could see the spray with naked eyes, but thru binoculars, you could see the whole animal coming out of the surface, with a puff of spray each time they breeched. Craziest thing I ever saw, and there were 5 of us who witnessed this. S.
  15. The moon controls a lot more than most people realize. Migrations, seasons, tides...it is a powerful rock in the sky. I know for sure it effects fishing, and it never lies. Now, that said, if you have crap weather on a good moon, the fishing will be impacted by the weather for sure, but fishing and hunting the moon phases will certainly increase your odds. Same thing with the barometer. Get one and keep it in your house and check it when you go fishing. It doesn't take long to figure out that a rising barometer makes the fish bite.....why?? I have no idea, but its a fact. I have a borometer, and I ALWAYS follow the moon phase. Its a fact that they improve fishing when you get the right barometer with the right moon.....but like everyone else, I can't plan my fishing days accordingly, so I just fish when I can. If anyone is into waterfowl.....watch the full moons in the fall. Migratory birds will fly all night long on a north wind with a big moon. Your almost guaranteed a great hunt on a full moon. There is a lot more to it than I can type here, but the moon and barometer heavily impact a lot of things in nature.....in fact, most things. S.
  16. Yep, Karl is a good dude! S.
  17. Good waterfowl hunting if your into that. Peak of the migration is usually the full moon in Oct. Once hunting season opens, I dont fish, so not much help there. I hear they catch the walleyes deep up there, or if you catch the frog migration, really shallow at night. S.
  18. It will happen. Once the lake stratifies, the fish will be easier to find. Right now they're spread out all over. A few calm hot days would be nice... S.
  19. Yeah, muddy's is great too! S.
  20. Yep, a new 40hp yammy is pushing 8K......I bought mine for just under 4K brand new in '94. I cant find a replacement now...unless I go new. S.
  21. Yeah, bewdley pizza is awesome. Order from the water, and pick up by boat! Best pizza around.
  22. Pm me when your coming and I will share some info. Im there a couple times a week.
  23. Cost me about $200 to have all the seals, and water pump done in my 40hp this spring. S.
  24. Ive never had that problem either, Roy.... S.
  25. I prefer the red hooks too....no rust!! I dont think the fish care, but no rust is a bonus! S.
