  1. In order to help myself stay sane and hopefully help others as well, one of the things that we've started doing to more Facebook & Instagram chats for any of you who are on those social media platforms. In fact tonight, I will be hosting on the "EVERYTHING You Wanted to Know About FISHING but were afraid to ask..." Facebook group page - https://www.facebook.com/groups/1421921441322251/ a "The Science Behind Fishing" chat with Fisheries & Oceans Canada Fisheries Biologist, Pure Fishing Ambassador & Ontario BASS Nation Conservation Director, Jason Barnucz - The Reel Angle and Ontario MNR Resource Management Technician, Rapala & HT Enterprises Inc Pro-Staff, Wil Wegman. We will discuss the recent 50th Bassmaster Classic, the B.A.S.S. Federation Nation Conservation convention held there and so much more! Feel free to comment with any questions that you may have for these two! Don't miss out on what should prove to be a very entertaining and informative session, it will start at 7:30 PM tonight (Wed. April 15th)!
  2. Fishing is not closed and everyone needs to make their own decisions! For me, I believe that there are much more pressing matters than whether I go fishing or not! And no one loves fishing more than I do. If you have access to water while being able to properly practice social distancing and non-essential travel then have at it! For me , my focus is more on staying healthy & well, making sure that my elderly neighbours, mother & mother in-law are looked after and figuring how we can all do our part to stem the tide of this horrible pandemic. I am working through my club and friends who have a supply chain to help to ensure that our front line workers are properly supplied with all the PPE that they need! BTW, on the positive side, I'm finally starting to get a handle on re-organizing my garage and gear, something that I haven't had time to do in years! Be prepared for an onslaught of gear for sale! LOL Please everyone stay home & stay safe, remember we're all in this together!
  3. Truly sad news! Read many of his informative and knowledgeable articles in the Toronto Sun, Ontario Fisherman and Ontario Out of Doors over the years! My deepest condolences to John's family and many friends!
  4. Was hoping to be able to post my new boat for this year but in light of the state of the world today and the Canadian dollar, I'm not really sure what I'll run this summer! Here is my Skeeter ZX250 from last summer, beautiful boat and a great ride!
  5. Those look great! I honestly wished that I had time to tie flies again, used to really enjoyed, especially when I caught something on my own fly!
  6. This fish was on Green Bay in Wisconsin and they measured it at 17" in length & 16" in girth! It was released because the season for Yellow Perch there is currently closed!
  7. Insulated Polar Fire 2 piece Snow Suit in an adult Large size. Very Warm, Wind-proof & Water Resistant, in VERY GOOD condition! Great for snowmobiling or ice fishing! Asking $75 or best reasonable offer!
  8. This beast of a Yellow Perch which I do believe was caught in Wisconsin was 17" long and had a 16" girth! They didn't scale it for weight as they released it! Absolute GIANT!
  9. Valens has pike in it but I still think that it is iced up!
  10. I've been in 3 different areas over the last few days and there is 10-15" of black ice all the way into shore in those areas! There are areas of the lake where the shoreline ice is eroding quickly, be super cautious in those areas especially as things can change while you are on the ice! Stay Safe out there!
  11. Pretty sure it was a school of herring!
  12. Got one on order but haven't received it yet! LOL
  13. With all the uncertainty in the world today, I decided on some self-imposed ice-solation, trying to get another crack at Lake Simcoe before ice-out! The ice was still in good shape 15'-16", even the shoreline although I'm sure that it will deteriorate quickly! My ice-solation day was spent with a friend and his son plus another friend and his two step sons. The weather was excellent, at least until the wind picked up at the end of the day! We caught enough nice fish for a couple of meals and the kids had a great time! Not sure how many more days on frozen lake Simcoe are left, might try to sneak out for another ice-solation day! Be careful out there, watch the shoreline ice!
  14. Hopefully, we'll have a better grasp on this by then! Only time will tell!
  15. This annual event starts this Friday, anyone planning on going? If so please drop by the "EVERYTHING you wanted to know about FISHING but were afraid 2 ask..." exhibit which will be located right at the main entrance! Check out this new educational showcase, would love your feedback and in return, if you mention this board, I'll give you a nice prize! There will also be some great FREE seminars to catch as well while you're there! Hope to see you all there!
  16. It definitely is a interesting proposal and I do believe that Dr. Bruce Tufts from Queens University is behind this proposal. If anybody understands the fish out there he does. His lab has been studying the bass in the St. Lawrence & Lake Ontario for years now. I would defer to his expertise> I know that many would like to see a streamlining of the Ontario Fishing Rules & Regulations but with the diversity of different regions, I'm not sure that it is possible!
  17. Some nice old lures that you have there! Welcome to the board, lots of knowledgeable anglers here! I don't get up that way very often but I'm sure that someone will have some good advice for you!
  18. Didn't get out there this year but I was there last year and it's a nice little show! Same as the other's that this company puts on the London & Barrie shows as well!
  19. What a great day for the last edition of the Perchin' For MS event today! It was cold but sunny and the wind wasn't nearly as bad as they called for plus the fishing was pretty good! Some great weights brought it by the top ten teams. My partner, Al Russell & I were lucky enough to win "Big Fish" of the event, unfortunately we were a fish shy of a limit, leaving us in the also-ran division! LOL The Jumbo weighed in a 1.765 lbs. came on a Jigging Rap and set an event record for "Big Fish"! Slab Grabbers also played a key role in our bag. Great event that raised a lot of money to help people suffering from MS and research but Doug Poirier the creator and organizer of this event announced that this would be the last year for this event. His deteriorating health for MS makes it difficult for him to continue running it, hopefully someone picks up the reins. Kudos for Doug and all his volunteers for hosting a phenomenal event. Congrats to everyone in the top 10, I didn't get a list son you can check www.perchinforms.com for them later, of course there were the usual suspects up there!
  20. It was new this year, so I'm not sure any retailers got them in but they'll be readily available for next season!
