  1. A great day with a man's best friend. A truer friend you'll be pressed to find Simon, and a great fishing partner too. If he'd just learn how to net those bigger fish. lol. Thanks for posting.
  2. That sure is an incredible day and time well spent with your Dad. Congrats!
  3. That is one cool toy you have there! Great video Bernie, very serene.
  4. I bought one this past spring on sale at Gagnon's (Can't help you with your location for purchasing) and it's fantastic. I got the one pictured in the link above (red and black) and by far the warmest suit I've owned. It takes some getting use to as far as the layering goes. Down to -10 I just wear a thin wicking top and the jacket and have been more than warm enough sledding. This past weekend in the -30's I added a light fleece top as well. Warm and not sweating. Very light weight and comfortable too. They are not coast guard approved but are to keep you floating for a couple of hours. I wish mine had the pit zippers (pro suit has them) for air flow and a larger inside pocket for the cell phone. My only 2 draw backs with the suit I bought. The pro suit seems to be only available at 2 locations in the states according to their website. The Arctic Armor Pro Suit is available at two 'exclusive' dealers only! (Not available for sale on our web site!) BUY NOW AT FLEECE CORNER BUY NOW AT PRO FISHING SUPPLY I believe Canadian Tire had them last year, red and black ones.
  5. A back lake would be fun but would depend on the weekend. Joeytier - I'm up that way a fair amount and could possible do the Lake you mentioned, or anything else if I'm not sledding.
  6. I spoke with my co-worker and he's very appreciative of all the input here, THANKS again! Now bring on some ice!
  7. Thanks for the input everyone, I'll be sure to pass along the information The initial part of the question regarding hut operators was "If we get ice this year, I'd like to take the family out...." lol. The perch grounds should be set up nicely fairly soon in some areas. I believe they are looking for transportation and a hut. If not I'll let you know, thanks!
  8. Happy New Year everyone, it's been a while. A co-worker of mine is looking to rent a hut for his family for the day on Simcoe. He'd like to go for lakers and whitefish but might consider perch fishing for the action and keeping everyone entertained. I'm wondering who is the best of the best out there now a days. I'm sure most are good or they wouldn't be in business all these years. So from your personal experience or what you know, who do you recommend? Thanks and appreciate the input. PS - Perhaps a guide? Not sure what their budget is. I believe Steve Rowbotham and Slayingm were guiding out there. PPS - I was at Home Depot on the weekend and they had Frabill ice huts, 2-3 man hub style, not thermal for $249 I believe. Just thought I'd throw that out there if anyone is looking around. This was at the Whitby location and lots of stock.
  9. What Wayne said!!! LOL! And yes this is a buddy of mine.
  10. I looked into getting one for my old tinny and I couldn't justify the cost for my old 20. Here's one that would likely do you if you choose to do so. http://www.amazon.com/Marinetech-55-0040-Panther-Model-Marine/dp/B001F0KHGG I'd get a bowmount myself like others have stated and tilting the motor could be your workout. lol.
  11. Watkins has proven to be the best for the stable flies out on Lake O. One application and good for the day where as the spray stuff was only good for a couple of hours, if that, at keeping them away. Haven't used 100% DEET in years but it worked really well.
  12. You're telling me. This weekend I towed the boat (empty - no seats, gear, trolling motor batteries or gas - it was just the hull, main motor and starting battery) 200k and it was 39L of fuel to fill it back up. (truck was empty as well) The same 200k not towing coming back was only 22L. It would be interesting to see what your hand calculated mileage is compared to the computer Brian. Hopefully it's close as those are some awesome numbers.
  13. I had this problem 2 seasons ago. I was a light clunking as it would start out and then would be fine. Last trip of the season and the speedo stopped working about 20k from the truck. Service for last season was the bearings and shaft. I'll assume you have checked the belt but could be as simple as this.
  14. It is an incredible plane to see in the air. I can't imagine hundreds of them flying in at the same time. They are releasing it on DVD and Blue Ray Lew. You won't have to leave the comfort of your home other than to go to the mail box if you wanted a copy. http://www.warplane.com/gift-shop/coming-soon/new-product-releases-page1.aspx My roommate from college was lucky enough to be one of the cameraman that few over to England in the Lancaster. A once in a lifetime event for sure.
  15. A couple of very nice fish for your efforts, good stuff!
  16. For those wanting some recent history, this runs tonight as selected Cineplex theatres for free. The last two airworthy WWII Lancaster Bombers reunited over England to make history in 2014. A war relic from Canada crossed the Atlantic to meet her counterpart in the UK and for the first time in 50 years two Lancasters shared the sky for a reunion tour. The Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum Lancaster, VeRA, flew from Hamilton, Ontario to meet her British counterpart, Thumper—the only other airworthy Lancaster in the world—operated by the Royal Air Force in England. It was a mission unlike any other this Lancaster and her flight crew had ever undertaken. Two legendary bombers, separated by time and distance, met in Bomber County to fly together, this time in peace. The reunion was also a farewell tour to veterans of Bomber Command, who are so entwined in their proud history. These marvels of mechanical engineering are part of a proud lineage credited with bringing an end to WWII. First-hand accounts from those who were connected to the bomber during the war transport us back in time as they share what it was like during the Lancaster’s glory days. REUNION OF GIANTS documents this historic mission as it unfolds, through the eyes of the flight crews and veterans—all part of the bombers’ history, including this new chapter as VeRA crosses the Atlantic. REUNION OF GIANTS premieres Remembrance Day 2015 in select Cineplex theatres across Canada. Participating theatres will be announced this September with free tickets becoming available beginning October 2, 2015. For information on tickets, theatre locations and future DVD availability, please visit warplane.com.
