Load tester. I've had batteries that when checked with a voltmeter showed between 12.3-12.5 volts, add a small light and they dropped to less than 8. That's called a surface charge.

My Dad joined the Navy in 1940 and his brother joined the army the same day. Both gave up 5 years of their lives to help beat Germany and both came home safely at the end of the war. My mom's brother flew bombers over Europe and sadly was killed in 1943 when his plane went down. My dad's father spent WW1 as a sniper in the British Army in the trenches of France and said he killed far too many people but it was something he had to do. He was hit by shrapnel and awarded the Military Medal but made it home in 1918. Thankfully he lived a long and wonderful life in Ontario and I was lucky enough to love him till I was 35 years old. 3 of my mother's uncles fought in WW1 with the Canadian Army and also all made it home. I'm always very proud of my family and the contributions and sacrifices they all made to help make the world a better place for the rest of us but especially on November 11. My Dad home on leave. And Mom's brother delivering Airmail in Ontario before he started flying bombers.

Helix 5 Sonar / GPS is prefect for price, portability, weight, and functionality for back lake trips and ice fishing. Also Battery life is usually an issue when you start to for with 7-9" screens. Unless you are going to go lithium... but then price point can start to get out of control.

I also use a helix 5. The portable unit fits perfectly inside a bucket for protection while ice fishing and running miles by machine, runs for days off a small portable battery, and marks the exact same fish as any larger screened unit. You will want to put a mapping chip in it if you want detailed charts. The larger units are just that, larger. I have bigger units on my boat, and wouldn't go smaller, but for PORTABLE, i prefer the 5" screen. S.

I have a Helix 5 as a portable. I agree it's excellent for the purpose. I had an opportunity to buy a 7, but found it to be far too large when I took a close look. Just my opinion, but the 7 certainly can't hurt if you don't mind the extra size and weight!

I'm not familiar with that style of led lights. Back in 2013 after a house fire I replaced most of all the ceiling lights in the house with 11" led lights that were flush mounts that still mounted using the standard electrical boxes. There are similar lights that use your standard incandescent bulbs. In 9 years I've had 3 go wonky as they started to flicker for a good while before dying out. Pretty sure it was something on the circuit boards but they make them so they can't be taken apart. Makes a big difference in my hydro bill which along with a switch to propane furnace, hot water tank and gas range really help. Don't really use my dryer at all either, it's a clothes line outside in the summer and indoor racks in front of the wood stove in the winter. We also try to use off peak hours as much as possible. Due to a low family income I also get a monthly $40 reduction on my hydro bill which really helps too. Saying that my hydro bill last month was $30, that's for a 2500 sq.ft. home. So if your goal is to save money by switching to led lights I say go for it. I can't say how much overall they drop my bill but no doubt it makes a big difference. Cheers

the noco genius line tends batteries and charges them. You can effectively leave your battery plugged into one full time and it will not overcharge your batteries. It monitors voltage and ensures that they are topped up when needed.
