  1. Tis the season. 2 quick ones this morning. Getting warm, so home, clean and get ready for the smoker. No selfies.

  2. Yes, I agree..the "Stay-Lok" snaps are a pain. However, a couple of things...I wouldn't use a swivel on a crankbait, just the snap. I feel the swivel is unnecessary on a non-rotating lure and detracts from the action. Secondly, if I am using a swivel, I always use a ball-bearing type..just had too many of those barrel swivels freeze up and cause me grief....buts that's just me.

  3. Bead and skein. I was in yer neck of the woods. Salmon Straight up Dark brown sugar 2 cups,3/4 cup sea salt. Will sit in the slurry for 6-7 hours, put on a rack ( tooth pick hanging ) in the fridge til morning, then in the smoker. I have glazed during the end of the smoke with many different things. I do not use whiskey. I like liqueurs pure. I have a nice pear one still from Ukraine from a good friend. Since half the batch will be for him,I am sure he will like that I used it.

  4. I’ve always charged at the highest amp rating, and used the trickle for occasional maintenance. Shag is not wrong, we recently got a smart charger for the place up north and it’s pretty sweet, but sometimes you have to dance with what brung you!

  5. I’ve fished out of a kayak, I’ve fished out of a 14 foot sportspal square stern, and I even have a heavy duty inflatable kayak for fall steelhead. A 14 foot tinner outclasses them all as far as I’m concerned. I have a Great Lakes boat, a tinner, and the inflatable kayak. I got rid of the sportspal and the Nucanoe 2 person kayak that I had. Nothing wrong with them, just not as capable!

  9. Jeezus Christ this guy is hooking up a yard sale fish finder not setting up a tournament boat. Siwash, it’ll work either way you go. And if you do get some fuzz on your sonar, it’ll stop as soon as you turn off the trolling motor. There is some over the top level advice getting tossed around on a budget tinner here!

  11. Went on a trip into the woods. No net man/camera man. Armed with new lures made by board member. Tied lure on then put over side of the boat and couldn’t get the lure down. A fish hit it as I lowered it down! Two seconds of fishing time and fish on. In 15min I landed two 5lb lakers and a 2.5lb whitefish. (Sorry no pics). Satisfied with that I went bass fishing. Caught some nice ones. Drove around in the boat about 80miles. Stayed on the trip until I started talking to myself and when I didn’t like what I was hearing I packed up and came home.

  12. You'll kill a single battery quick if you're on the trolling motor all day. Your best bet is definitely two batteries, separating your TM battery and the starting/house battery.

  13. you dont want your trolling motor running on your starting battery, nor do you want your marine electronics running on the same battery as your trolling motor. I would run a couple of nautilus group 27 agm's from canadian tire and call it a day.

  14. I use one deep cycle group 27 to run everything in the boat, lights, radio, fish finder and downriggers. I've got an F40 yamaha and it charges the battery while running. If I was to add an electric trolling motor, I would most likely add another deep cycle just for that.

  15. Even if you don't have a hard copy or a digital one on your phone with you it's no big deal. As long as you've gone on the website and paid. Last week, 3 of us were fishing in my boat. A pair of friendly female Conservation Officers pulled along side us. They asked to see our safety equipment, my Boating Card, and all our fishing licenses. They also asked me to open my livewell. All good, except my one buddy had left his Outdoors Card and phone back at the cottage....which he apologized for, but he insisted he did have a valid license which he purchased on-line. The CO asked for his name, date of birth and address...we assumed she was going to write him a ticket. Nope...she got on her phone called in to her office (this was a Sunday), got the admin to search the data base, and verified my buddy did indeed have an up-to-date licence. They wished us luck and went on their merry way. Very pleasant government employees who just wanted to make sure we were safe, and went out of their way not to fine us.

  16. Clean power runs for all electronics! It’s the only way! You can run a really heavy guage run to a shut off and then run your lines off of that but you want that run to be for electronics only! a tip for siwash, get yourself a resettable breaker for your trolling motor off of Amazon. Bass pro sells identical ones for literally 3x the price. marine grade wire and marine grade terminal ends only! Corrosion is a disaster in the marine environment and is impossible to stop. You would be blown away how fast raw copper corrodes. Tinned everything!
