  2. Just got back from Anjigaming (AirDale) and we had a great time!! We drove straight through the day on Friday and stayed with Jenn and Martin at their lodge at Hawk Junction and after an amazing breaky at the lodge we drive to the air base at Wawa for our 9AM departure. Flight in was smooth and we were unpacked and on the water by noon. We were the first group on this lake in 2 years (it was closed for most of the pandemic) so we were excited about getting out on the lake. The boats were 14' Naden's with 8hp Merc 4 strokes and ran fine. Fishing was very good once we got a good lay of the land and by the end of the week we landed close to 200 fish with the largest pike in the 42-44" range and the largest Walleye was in the 24" range. We had a couple of fish fry's for lunch and only had rain blow through a couple of times in the week but the bugs were thick when the wind died down in the evening. The cabin has a solar array and a sat router that allowed us to get WiFi so we could text and send pics of the trip. The week went by quickly and I am already looking forward to next years trip!

  3. thats another thing...the right boat will not last. Ive bought two boats now and Ive seen a total of 3 including the two boats I bought in all of my searching for boats. When you are ready to buy, you will know when you have hit the right deal. The due dilligence is the test drive, leak check and compression test. From there if its priced right, bring your money with you because if it is, it wont last.

  4. I asked that same question of a man with a PhD in materials science (or something like that). He said to me, "would you ever pull this boat up on a sandy beach?" Indeed I would says I, and he says, "buy aluminum." That was three boats ago, all aluminum of course. The second one I bought new in 1998, and sold it this spring for 75% of what I paid for it 24 years ago. And even though I did beach it, and bumped into the odd rock and the odd stump, etc, it was still water-tight, no leaks. BTW most of my fishing is like the OP. Doug

  7. Very nice Chris! I agree, catching fish is a bonus to the day, and I would be happy to tie into a Sheepshead! ( never caught one!)

  8. Perhaps I was a bit harsh but it is poor form to take up the dock. Kinda like prepping your boat for launching while you are on the launch and 20 others are waiting for you

  9. I think they are starting to dip. I’ve had my eye on a particular model of Starcraft tiller boat, and I saw my first dealer reduction in pricing on an in stock new boat today. I’ve also noticed Corona boats aren’t selling and I’ve marked a number of rigs on kijiji and almost all of them have had price reductions unless they where a smoking deal already. Facts are facts, and people are starting to notice they have less disposable income, and rates rising means a lot of people are less inclined to slap a boat on their HELOC or other credit vehicle. I wouldn’t either, as a matter of fact if I had any debt other than a mortgage or car payment I’d be looking to clean it up ASAP. There is an air of hesitation from a lot of people, many wondering what their finances will look like in the next couple of years.
