  1. OMC went out of business over 20 years ago - in December, 2000. Even if you can find parts, you're better off to junk the old engine and replace it with an outboard on a bracket. It will work 100x better, use way less fuel, and just be fewer headaches all the way round.

  2. Taking the family up camping near Huntsville this week starting Thursday. Was curious if anyone had any decent shore fishing spots in the area? On a side note, those that remember, Me and my boy caught a huge 6 pound bass last summer camping up in Parry Sound. Just got a call today that my replica is finally done from Advanced, picking it up Wednesday! Can't wait.

  4. 50amp breaker, all day. Princess auto sells em cheap and they will work fine for your application.

  5. I was once told that the idea behind covering your outboard is that they aren’t designed for the wet road driving environment of fine sand and salt that we have here in canada. One drive down the highway in the rain and you all know the horrible thin layer of road grime that coats absolutely everything. a car’s air intake typically has a pile of bends/collection points plus a large air filter for this kinda junk, meanwhile my personal outboard has a small piece of foam before the intake and that’s about it. Hence, I cover the motor to try and keep some of that road grime out of the intake and engine bay in general.

  6. Marine Circuit Breaker 50Amp for Boat Trolling with Manual Reset,Water Proof,12V- 48V DC https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07J5FBLKM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_i_BJE41QZDRASB0K7DAMTQ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 get that…I think 50 is correct. But you have options. Bass pro “brands” these exact same breakers and sells them for double the price.

  7. A 12v motor will draw one amp per pound of thrust. So, one size up from the number of pounds of thrust should be good.

  8. Maybe get a 40-50 amp breaker with a reset button? If something accidentally shorts out and after the accident/short is found, push the breaker switch and you're back going again. There are also auto resets that once the short is removed the circuit will be back on line. I would suggest marine type applications. A bit more money but well worth it. You'll not have to worry about spare fuses. Dan.

  9. I have my 50 Chevy 2 door sedan to work on, as soon as I get it back from the body shop. I have 45 years of tinkering, building, repairing and fabricating; all of that is in my blood. Going to miss all the equipment; but when I started, I didn't have that stuff and still built cars. Once things get settled; I've been thinking of building an air boat. Be good for water, sketchy Ice and pissing everyone around me off with the noise. LOL Dan.

  10. typography is such an under rated aspect of EVERYTHING, it can be so subtle that one barely notices it. I knew people who worked at the Globe and Mail and when they were doing a redesign a few years ago, they had tables full of fonts...serif, or sans serif lol decision took some time and involved the publisher as well iirc.

  11. Congrats Dan. I started mine a few years back (advertising typograpghy) only going in 4 days a week, took Friday off. Then I went to a 3 day. Tues, Wed, Thurs. Last year I had decided that in Dec I would only go in to fill in. When Civid hit The Bay terminated their advertising contract with us and the business closed. I had lots of connections and they came calling for advice or special project here and there. Unexpected I ran into to a Canadian type designer who has moved to NS from TO, we hit it off right away, had a lot of common friends and lots of typography experience, he was spearheading a website to preserve Canadian Typography history. I have quite a collection of the ‘old stuff’ before computers, he was shocked I had kept this stuff . We know skype once a week, write articles and do things building this site. Nothing was further in my mind but it has kept me going and enjoying rediscovering what I had done and how much I can leave to the generations to come. I was a teacher in my workplaces. Good luck on your future endeavours. My guy was also in the same boat as you and he sent his clients to his mechanic friend and gave us their number but he would be going in to chat and offer advice.

  12. Small males will always stay shallow for the most part. The big females will be off the edges. They like cooler water temps then muskie do, so think deep.

  13. Congratulations Dan, I am sure you will find it very different for a while, I know I did but I now have so many things to keep me busy I don't know where I ever found time to work. Enjoy, you have earned it.

  14. Been in the automotive trade for 45 years. Owned my own shop for 40 of those years. With covid kicking my ass financially; decided I had enough and wasn't putting any more of my savings back into the shop; to keep it going. I'll miss a lot of my customers and the loyalty they have shown me over the years. The sad part is I don't know who to recommend them to go to? All the good smaller shops that I knew are all closed or closing. So I'm going to try this retirement thing and see how that goes. Oh man my life is in for a great big change; not sure if I'm ready for it. Dealing with the public hasn't always been easy; vehicle repairs have always been a grudge purchase; but at times it could also be very gratifying; I'll miss that the most. Dan.
