  1. Written from an American perspective but most applies here: "For a small amount of perspective at this moment, imagine you were born in 1900. On your 14th birthday, World War I starts, and ends on your 18th birthday. 22 million people perish in that war. Later in the year, a Spanish Flu epidemic hits the planet and runs until your 20th birthday. 50 million people die from it in those two years. Yes, 50 million. On your 29th birthday, the Great Depression begins. Unemployment hits 25%, the World GDP drops 27%. That runs until you are 33. The country nearly collapses along with the world economy. When you turn 39, World War II starts. You aren’t even over the hill yet. And don’t try to catch your breath. On your 41st birthday, the United States is fully pulled into WWII. Between your 39th and 45th birthday, 75 million people perish in the war. Smallpox was epidemic until you were in your 40’s, as it killed 300 million people during your lifetime. At 50, the Korean War starts. 5 million perish. From your birth, until you are 55 you dealt with the fear of Polio epidemics each summer. You experience friends and family contracting polio and being paralyzed and/or die. At 55 the Vietnam War begins and doesn’t end for 20 years. 4 million people perish in that conflict. During the Cold War, you lived each day with the fear of nuclear annihilation. On your 62nd birthday you have the Cuban Missile Crisis, a tipping point in the Cold War. Life on our planet, as we know it, almost ended. When you turn 75, the Vietnam War finally ends. Think of everyone on the planet born in 1900. How did they endure all of that? When you were a kid in 1985 and didn’t think your 85 year old grandparent understood how hard school was. And how mean that kid in your class was. Yet they survived through everything listed above. Perspective is an amazing art. Refined and enlightening as time goes on. Let’s try and keep things in perspective. Your parents and/or grandparents were called to endure all of the above and ......YOU ARE CALLED TO STAY HOME AND SIT ON YOUR COUCH"

  2. This will be the 1st time in 30+ years I won't be opening walleye season in my favorite spot. I don't know if public docs and piers will be open, but that is not the reason. My dad passed away 2 weeks ago from a ruptured abdominal aneurysm. Taking care of my mom well being is more important to me. To all those that are going fishing good luck and catch one for my dad.

  8. Haha! You don't see your hypocrisy? You read Aljazeera for news and call other stuff 'fake news'? Hahaha! Aljazeera for cryin' out loud! Zero credibility is your goal? Accomplished!! Doubt you saw the vid since no way a senior scientist who worked around that Dr. Fausi (sp?) on ebola, HIV, vaccines who puts her face, name and reputation on the line is 'fake'. If you did watch the vid then call it all 'fake' then your agenda is quite obvious. Sourcing Aljazeera....LOL! I'll try and ind some info to link to her. She is now conducting public presentations to teach doctors about what is going on based on her expertise and experience at the top of US virus research. NOT Aljazeera sourced BTW. Sorry if that reduces her credibility to you nl. Dr. Judy Mikovits is her name and worth checking out. Here is an overview of the vid that was taken down by utube... https://www.pennlive.com/nation-world/2020/05/who-is-judy-mikovits-and-what-does-she-have-to-do-with-anthony-fauci-and-the-coronavirus.html BTW I offer such vids to help us all explore and understand things. I leave conclusions to the folks here. What I thought interesting from her vid was 1. Big pharma has greedy hands on anything and would rather treat not cure people. 2. Research is guided by Big Pharma rather than by academics. 3. 2 medicines classed by the WHO as 'vital to the world' or some such designation, which cost very little and deal with autism and ?HIV? (can't recall), have been taken over by two big corporations so no longer available. 4. Vaccine development is treated as big business rather than to help people and there are/may be bad consequences if animal samples are used to create them. 5. Ebola learned to get into humans in a lab. (Had to listen closely twice to hear this statement). 6. The Covid-19 somehow came after a US biomedical lab was closed for unsafe leaks of stuff and gov't spent $3.7 million to transfer the work to the Wuhan (sp?) lab. All interesting stuff to me and maybe some others here. The above things made me think folks here might be interested even though we have no say in anything except our own decisions like getting a vaccine.

  12. Hi all, finished the dock I started last year. Used some ‘Z’ purling from the dump, an old I beam joist my neighbour gave me and my neighbours help and expertise. With wood, tool hire and some dock hardware I’ve ordered, a 32’ x 8’ dock cost me just under $1000, I’m pretty pleased with the results. We used ready rod to fix the beam to an exposed rock, which happened to be perfectly placed because it’s right where I launch the boat from the lawn. I built a shore crib to anchor at the other end. A few more holes drilled in the rock towards the centre of the dock with ready rod dropped in provided extra support. Two days after completion the ice had left our bay enough to cast for pike. Last year my son Jack was beside himself with grief because the rock that was now going to be covered had always been know to us as “Secret Island” since he was a little over a year old. I tried consoling him with how cool a dock would be, but despite his brave face I knew he was not convinced. Fast forward a year and he’s convinced... lol.... he fished the whole day down there one day, he will usually fish for a maximum 10 minutes, I’ll take it while it lasts!

  13. I can vouch for these boots ya,ll. Best pair I have ever bought for ice fishing. And that price is half the retail. Sweet deal David. If they were 13, I would of bought for walking the river.

  14. Because we are smart enough to know that a boat ramp is less important than the lives of our fellow Canadians and the safety of our healthcare workers. it sucks but we are putting faith in those that make the decisions are doing so in our best interest. boat ramps will re-open...when it is safe to do so which sounds like it will be soon.
