  1. I finally got a chance to scoot out on my own. Brought the GoPro with me for the first time this season. What a blast! It's kind of nice being on the rod instead of the net for a change.

  2. I've been watching hockey far too long to put any stock into analyzing teams by looking at stats. This includes how many 30 or 50 goals scorers a team has. St. Louis has ONE 30 goal scorer, Tarasenko, and he only got 33....oh, and a Stanley Cup. If the Leafs don't gel and start playing because they give a damn about the logo on the front of the jersey, their team mates, and the fans, this will be another season of "what could have been".

  3. Thousands upon thousands of fans screaming, yelling & cheering on their favorite teams and everybody having a blast, don't think I'd be too upset about 4 ladies also having fun whether it was over the game or not. Life's waaaay too short to sweat the little stuff.

  4. Decided to do a solo mission for a few hours today on a local lake. Hit up my late August spot and nada, fish had vacated. Not surprised as that pattern only lasts a few weeks. So I sat at the console and rode the sonar for a bit. Edges, rock piles, flats, weeds, nothing too interesting. I pull up to a spot and I see a few fish swirling. I'm thinking awesome, maybe that late August pattern is back. Nope, these bass were eating flying ants I kid you not. Surface was littered with them and the bass were slurping away. Of course my 4wt was at home so I'm not even going to try and pattern those little buggers out. Although the water they were doing this in was 30+ft. So I'm thinking to myself, these fish aren't staying at the surface this entire time. Then the graph lights up. Wolfpacks of smallies 15-20ft down over 30+ feet. I grab my fav vertical jigging bait and it doesn't make it to the bottom before I get slack and the first big boy is in the boat. Did this 3 more times in the span of 2 mins and then it stopped dead. Moved 50ft and repeat. Any basin at this depth held all kinds of fish. I was finding pack after pack of smallies just roaming around in featureless water. The key here was depth though. 30+ feet? I'd find fish. 25 or shallower? Nada, nothing. Every single pack of fish I'd mark and spot lock I'd get 3-4 then move onto the next. What a fun few hours... I know a lot of guys have a hard time with bass in the early fall. Go deep fellas and use your electronics. If you aren't marking fish, don't fish until you do. Proof is in the pudding. No fish pics, didn't wanna waste any time getting them back down. They were spitting bait and crapping all over my boat though, lol!! The best part about this pattern is that it's not lake specific. I've done this on GPool, GBay, Parry Sound, Upper Severn, you name it.

  5. As I posted in another thread my wife and I have been travelling around the east coast of the U.S. and the Maritimes for awhile now. We always stay at Hampton Inn & Suites whenever possible because they're great hotels and that point was really proven this week. We were staying in Charlottetown PEI last week and left there on Monday for Moncton NB where we are now. After we arrived at our hotel here and were unpacking our things we realized we'd left several hundred dollars worth of clothing in PEI.....don't ask LOL We called them right away and the desk clerk said she was just getting ready to call us as the housekeeper had found our stuff while cleaning the room. She told us not to be concerned as they'd look after everything for us, pack up all our things and ship them over here with Purolator. That was Monday afternoon and all our stuff arrived at 9:00 this morning (Wednesday) all neatly folded & packed into a couple boxes....about 43 hours. Total cost to me was a measly $38 Customer service doesn't get any better than that.

  6. I forgot to mention Rattletrap type baits from Spro, Yozuri, Lucky Craft, Jackal, Daiwa, Cotton Cordel. They not only work but cast a mile. I've seen Americans on TV catch inshore salmon on soft plastic minnows from Berkley as well. I'm trying soft plastic swimbaits this year because I know they work for big Steelhead and usually salmon and steelhead will hit similar lures. Again put a heavy jighead on a swimbait and not only does it cast far it also hugs the bottom which is where chinooks often linger when they are not jumping

  7. Thanks for all the wonderful advice. Went out early this morning and had a hit and miss on moonshine white and orange glow spoon. After 15 mins switched to a size 1 Len Thompson 5 of diamonds glow spoon and was rewarded with this nice 20 lb buck. Josh, Your advice on a slow retrieve worked. Basically casted it out,let it sink for 6-7 seconds and slow retrieve. Glad my 2 year salmonless drought is over . Also my first ever Bronte Salmon

  8. We're big fans of the Island Gerry and have visited several times, infact we we're just there 3 years ago. It's a beautiful place where everyone is really proud of their homes and look after them. Driving around there for 3 days I don't think I saw a single piece of garbage thrown on the ground.

  9. Duclair was the best player on the ice. Nice brick you threw up the middle there Mitch. You demanded to be the 2nd highest paid winger in the NHL, now you're gonna start to feel the consequences.

  11. You gotta understand that going to the jays game on a Sunday/Saturday afternoon is not necessarily about the baseball for many of those in attendance. Especially with the team’s current roster. Unless they are belligerent, fighting, or touching you, I think you need to consider what you are getting upset about. A group of friends that purchased tickets to an event having a good time with their friends? What to do, is think about the fact that there are far worse things in life to concern yourself with.

  12. I run stabilizer in every tank of fuel all year long. Never have an issue if you do. It's not like it costs a fortune to do it.

  13. I'd have asked them if they could lower their voices. could work, or not, never know. kinda related. was camping in algonquin few years back and there was a very loud radio crowd with kids next to us. didn't look like the crowd you'd want to ask to tone it down but went over anyways. they were apologetic and turned their radio off. told them that wasn't necessary, just a bit lower volume. they were great the rest of the weekend and really nice people.
