  1. I got out last night after work for a quick fish. Just got out on the water and were welcomed by a monsoon. Filled the boat half full of water, but we stuck it out because those darn fish were going to be biting! Then we battled the wind. We did boat 12 walleye in the couple of hours we were out. Thank god the sun showed up after the down pour. Caught all but one trolling.

  3. My great grandparents bought land when it was first available as well. My grandparents actually met on the lake, as young children. They married, then bought their land from the government for something like $2.5 / foot of water front. He got 350 feet of water front for under a thousand bucks when he was 18 years old. He is 90 now...

  4. They called one evening when I was at home in the kitchen. Said my computer was sending data and messages out and needed to be fixed. I told them to wait and I would go get it. Then I listened to her for a few minutes and told her that I would make sure it would never happen again. I took a cookie sheet out and threw it on the floor with a crash and banged it around a bit. I told her I had smashed it and it would not do it again. There was a pause and then she hung up. Probably did nothing, but my wife and I had a good laugh. I have done the same thing with the duct cleaner call centres and my duck call. Its pretty funny when they try to explain that they don't mean "ducks' they mean "ducts" while I am yelling at my wife to keep them quiet while I am trying to talk to someone about getting them cleaned.

  5. When the silver bass came into the Coal Dock in Midland many years ago they were a very bright silver colour with dark lines running head to tail . I have also caught white perch there too but they had a slight gold tint to them and no dark lines head to tail. The first time I caught a white perch I thought it a small silver bass but the gold tint and faded lines on the fish made me suspicious that it wasn't a silver bass. I looked it up and found out it was a white perch. I had never seen one caught at the coal dock until that time.

  6. If the Leafs had but a small portion of the attitude, heart and determination of Kawhi Leonard, they would still be in it and probably hoist the cup this year.

  7. How bout Team Canada fellas. Lots of credit to the guys who go to Europe to represent Canada after their club team missed the playoffs or were knocked out in the first round. Led by Mark Stone we have a nice little hockey club over there. What a game today. Never say die attitude. Beautiful. Go Canada Go!!

  10. I've gotten many of these calls and use several tactics to make things uncomfortable. My favourite is asking them to hold on a minute while I go to my computer, that's when I hold the phone to the smoke detector and press "test". I was messing with them so much my wife thought they were using our number for new trainees to call.?

  12. I also grew up on the lake. Even have our families original copy of the lot surveys from when the land around the lake were first made available. By 1980 the fishing sucked. Too much pressure on fish populations. Then residents, by and large, stopped fishing the lake. By 2000 the fishing was again fantastic. Six Mile's current decline is similar to the decline of most other Toronto satellite lakes. I've also seen similar on Mitchell, Canal and Dalrymple

  13. just like you...it has been 30 plus years since I have fished there BUT I do remember we caught a giant crappie while trolling for pike. Guy I was with was trolling a panther martin spinner and caught it on that...biggest crappie I ever saw. Can't remember what I had for breakfast today but I remember everything about that fish!

  14. Well to start with are you talking about chain pickerel or yellow pickerel yellow pickerel is what settlers in Ontario called them way back when most shortened it to pickerel/pickeral american settlers called them walleye american also. Screwed up English words like Harbour and neighbour but we didn’t hold it against them when the US and Canadian give wanted to do joint work on pickerel/walleye studies the Canadian gov agreed to officially call them walleye many people north of the gta still prefer to call them pickerel and all intelligent people know what they mean when they say pickerel in Ontario. Some like to try to show people they are smart by correcting them but who cares

  16. Just a heads up for those who know and more importantly, those that don't, that in the 416 region, those "microsoft support people" are hard at it this week. Once last week and twice this week they have wanted to help me with my computer. If you don't know, Microsoft will NEVER call you, that's not the way they work. These people are trying to sabotage our computers in order to steal and extort us. I work from home, so I am home all day dealing with telemarketers and scammers calling the house. But these scammers tend to hit the most vulnerable of us and I just wanted to let everyone know that they are hitting our region pretty hard these days. HH
