  2. If you enjoy fishing you will love attending the Greater Niagara Fishing & Outdoor Expo that will be held this coming January 18 – 20. This "pure" fishing show is designed to be an "event" where attendees can spend a long weekend enjoying and learning about your favorite pastime versus the normal one or two hour "walk through" shows that many are used to attending. Now in our 6th year, the show continues to grow toward becoming one of the best "fishing" shows in all of the Great Lakes. With over 170 fishing exhibitor booths and over 3,000 hours of "fishing" education provided to attendees at our January 2018 show, we are the largest freshwater "fishing" show in New York State and among the largest fishing shows anywhere in the Great Lakes. The Show Facility - the Conference and Event Center Niagara Falls - provides a unique blend of a spacious Exhibitor Event Center, multiple additional side rooms and a multitude of conference/seminar rooms all utilizing "State of the Art" technology. The core of the show is built around providing sportfishing education to all attendees. The core belief of our show is that education is the most important thing we can do to continue to grow the sport of fishing. We believe that by providing a significant amount of education, we will recruit new anglers including the next generation to the sport as well as the knowledge for existing anglers to increase their enjoyment for the time they spend on the water by being more successful. We take great pride in offering a multi-species fishing show with many well-known fishing manufacturers, local and regional fishing retailers, local fishing guides and outfitters, family-friendly fishing trips, discounted tackle, the best local fishing boat dealers, kayak fishing watercraft, marine electronics, local fishing clubs and much more. The show highlights the rich waters of Western New York which offers up to anglers one of the most productive and diversified year round freshwater fisheries on the planet! Admission to the show is $10 with Canadian cash accepted at par at the door for our Canadian guests. You can see all of the details on the Show at www.niagarafishingexpo.com. 4. I was a 24 hour guy, but the salt intake has got me going 48. I still need that home taste like nan made. If It is just fish in tater, might as well use Tilapia. LOL Atleast frying in bacon fat, adds a bit of more flavor. Bad habits never die.LOL Edit to add Add the chopped onion and fish, in the mashed taters while they are still steaming. The taters will absorb the onion juices. Makes a world of difference. Let it all cool off before making your paddy's. Just how I do it. Enjoy. Look forward to your finish. I see a dinner of my own maybe this Sunday.

  6. My brother had a great Deer hunt last month and gave me a few Backstraps, Loins and steaks. I've never cooked Deer before. Very lean but I have a good size jar of Bacon fat available. I don't want to ruin them. Any simple recipes?

  8. I was with a buddy at the Owen Sound Fishing Symposium back in the 80s or so. We were staying in my camper and eating our meals there rather than buying take-out. He had brought a brick of garlic cheese, which was DELICIOUS!!! But that afternoon, after eating a bunch of it, I noticed that people's eyes were getting tears in them when I was speaking to them. LASER BREATH.................. And if you were going hunting, it would be basically impossible to get that garlic out of your skin - and the deer would notice. Says the guy who is talking with some experience in this regard.................... I will be interested to hear how it turns out! Doug

  9. Garlic soup on the menu tonight! Here's a recipe I found, I'm gonna give a whirl tonight! I'll let yah know how it turnes out! Yield Serves 4 Ingredients 26 garlic cloves (unpeeled) 2 tablespoons olive oil 2 tablespoons (1/4 stick) butter 2 1/4 cups sliced onions 1 1/2 teaspoons chopped fresh thyme 18 garlic cloves, peeled 3 1/2 cups chicken stock or canned low-salt chicken broth 1/2 cup whipping cream 1/2 cup finely grated Parmesan cheese (about 2 ounces) 4 lemon wedges Preparation Preheat oven to 350°F. Place 26 garlic cloves in small glass baking dish. Add 2 tablespoons olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper; toss to coat. Cover baking dish tightly with foil and bake until garlic is golden brown and tender, about 45 minutes. Cool. Squeeze garlic between fingertips to release cloves. Transfer cloves to small bowl. Melt butter in heavy large saucepan over medium-high heat. Add onions and thyme and cook until onions are translucent, about 6 minutes. Add roasted garlic and 18 raw garlic cloves and cook 3 minutes. Add chicken stock; cover and simmer until garlic is very tender, about 20 minutes. Working in batches, purée soup in blender until smooth. Return soup to saucepan; add cream and bring to simmer. Season with salt and pepper. (Can be prepared 1 day ahead. Cover and refrigerate. Rewarm over medium heat, stirring occasionally.) Divide grated cheese among 4 bowls and ladle soup over. Squeeze juice of 1 lemon wedge into each bowl and serve. HH

  12. I was the same, never could understand why anyone would want a steering wheel heater but it came as part of a package on my new truck and I must admit, it's pretty darned nice on those frosty mornings to get in and the wheel is already warm LOL As for heated & cooled seats, those things are as slick as they come, specially the cooled leather seats on steamy hot days when you turn them on and your butt & back are cool as the proverbial cucumber

  14. I've always enjoyed playing pool and have a large 27' x 17' family room down stairs so finally decided to buy a table. It was delivered and installed on Friday and we had friends and family over for the weekend and had a blast breaking it in. Gonna be a great way to spend those long cold winter evenings.

  15. Can't be stealin' with a remote starter. As soon as you hit the brake it turns off. Now the ones getting stolen are the ones without a remote starter. Where you go out to your car and start it with the key and go back in to finish your coffee.

  16. Me too. The swivel is handy to have on your line as well. Btw....i never reel the swivel through my rod tip with a fish on. Ever. If im icefishing i use a shorter leader....about the length of my rod, so 28-36" or so. Thats enough. The swivel will take out the ceramic in the rod tip for sure after a while and you risk the fish taking a run and breaking the leader if the swivel gets caught. S
