TJQ Posted April 21 Report Posted April 21 Whens the best time for a salmon charter on lake Ontario. Near Hamilton, St. Catherine's area. I have a friend who wants to buy a charter as a present but is looking for the best time to go. And I'm clueless.. litterally lol.
Spiel Posted April 21 Report Posted April 21 "And I'm clueless.. litterally lol" NO COMMENT LOL The best months imo is July /August when fish are big and patterns fairly consistent. 2

Annual fish movement varies as they move around the lake through the seasons and a charter guy I know definitely changes his locations throughout the season to follow fish movement. 1
CrowMan Posted April 22 Report Posted April 22 You can't beat late July/early August anywhere in the GTA...Scarborough Bluffs, Toronto Islands, Mimico, Port Credit, and Bronte . From my experience, the south shore (Grimsby, St. Catharines, Niagara) is best late April to early June. Smitty55 is right on...I have several buddies that move their charters from Port Dalhousie/Weller in the spring to Bronte/Credit for the summer. That being said, anywhere on the lake all summer long will always produce some fish. Just keep in mind that often by late August/early September they start thinking more about spawning than eating. 1
petersaban Posted April 22 Report Posted April 22 Crowman is correct, Grimsby to Niagara bar will be prime early May. They are starting to show up now, not in big numbers but definitely a few around. 1
BillM Posted April 22 Report Posted April 22 Now is the time for the southern shore. Seems to be a few weeks behind due to how cold it's been but the next month should be really heating up. 1
fishdawg Posted April 30 Report Posted April 30 The next week or 2 is amazing Salmon action out of St Catharines How many people is the trip for? 1
