So many round gobies in Simcoe

So I was fishing off Barrie's shoreline on Sunday for perch, I caught 11 gobies, 2 perch. I ended up fishing the marina side to get some rock bass so I could at least get a lunch out of my time spent. I had more dead gobies in a pile next to my bucket than what was in my bucket. Is there anything MNR can do about this? I know the Smallies eat them up and must be getting fat but don't they do more damage than good like eating up eggs?

Everything eats the gobies, whities, lakers, bass. Nothing we can do about them now.

Gobies have been on the st Lawrence a while now and from what I can tell it's healthy as ever

 

If eggs survive they now have an unlimited slow moving food supply

Let me guess, off the spit at heritage park? Yup, they are all around. Use a slip float. Better luck then for perch.

As I recall Brian, they used to make a 6 inch version, I had high hopes for a big smallie! LOL The 3-4 inch worked well though.
