lhousesoccer Posted November 6, 2014 Report Posted November 6, 2014 I think this is a horrible, blasphemous idea. Just disgusting, really. Is there no bottom to corporate (and Bettman's) greed? http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/nhl/nhl-sersey-ads-coming-says-league-exec-1.2826466
dave524 Posted November 6, 2014 Report Posted November 6, 2014 Hec, I thought advertising on the boards was disgusting, but then again I grew up with Murray Westgate and " Happy Motoring " as the big sponsor of Leafs games
irishfield Posted November 6, 2014 Report Posted November 6, 2014 I can only think of one team that skates slow enough to read them...
leaf4 Posted November 6, 2014 Report Posted November 6, 2014 Taking a cue from the euro leagues, sad to see I just hope it's not gaudy and detracts from the actual jersey. and I really hope they keep any and all winter classic jerseys free of them, being a vintage look there should be none

kickingfrog Posted November 6, 2014 Report Posted November 6, 2014 Ads on the broads, on the ice, the screen behind the interviewee, behind the coach on the bench, in the penalty box, in the arena hallway, on the steps in the arena, ridiculously bigger logos on the equipment, projected onto the glass behind the nets, rotating light boards, as I'm standing at the urinal, every tv segment sponsored by a faceless conglomerate. Hate it all, but the only thing I have to say is: Surprised it took this long.
jedimaster Posted November 7, 2014 Report Posted November 7, 2014 NBA already inked a deal as well. The only issue was how to split up the ad revenue or it would be on the jerseys this year. Nascar, Fishing, Soccer... It will come to the NFL and MLB eventually as well.
Steve Posted November 7, 2014 Report Posted November 7, 2014 you think the Yankee's would ever put advertising on their shirts?
kickingfrog Posted November 7, 2014 Report Posted November 7, 2014 Yes. The only question is the price.
Roy Posted November 7, 2014 Report Posted November 7, 2014 I can only think of one team that skates slow enough to read them...
kickingfrog Posted November 7, 2014 Report Posted November 7, 2014 I can only think of one team that skates slow enough to read them... And the coincidence is that they have the only fans that can read.
