Entropy Posted February 11, 2014 Report Posted February 11, 2014 makes it look easy. I'll stick with my 8 lb maul, get's me through my 4 bush cord a year.
captpierre Posted February 11, 2014 Report Posted February 11, 2014 would like to see it on hardwood and throw in a few knots
Dara Posted February 11, 2014 Report Posted February 11, 2014 It looks like what we do when we put a bit of a twist action just as the axe hits the wood only this is a bit more efficient.
irishfield Posted February 11, 2014 Report Posted February 11, 2014 Can't imagine what it does to your wrist and arm after awhile. Not sure what he's splitting, but it's like the Silver Aspen at the lake.. has a bark almost like a coconut shell. So wet it splits easier than poplar. I too would like to see him do that with some narly hard maple in the back yard here.
Sinker Posted February 11, 2014 Report Posted February 11, 2014 That thing would bounce off hardwood. I have a 12lb maul that bounces off a good knot in sugar maple or ironwood. S.
Rod Caster Posted February 12, 2014 Report Posted February 12, 2014 If only softwood was my #1 heating source haha.
SmokestackLightnin Posted February 12, 2014 Report Posted February 12, 2014 Left on Boxing Day for a trip to Finland and Sweden and I was amazed that the landscape is very similar to Ontario. Lots of granite, lakes and forests. But there are no hardwoods and that is why this axe is likely awesome in Finland, but would have a tough time with our oaks, maples, ash and elm.
