Dancing with some NYMPHomaniac trout

Over the past few weeks, I've been spending most of my fishing time probing likely waters for resident trout. Speckles being my primary target, I was surprised to find many new spots with healthy populations of resident brown and rainbow trout. It's been interesting to note how each species positions themselves in these tiny waters differently. Most fish have been taken on size 10 to 14 bead head nymphs fished under an indicator, but a few nice fish have come on small dries, which is something truly special. All fish released, all but one or two were hardly taken out of the water. Extremely fragile fish.

Oh, and my 7 ft 3 weight Loomis/st. Croix combo is an absolute blast for fighting these strong fish.

My usual brookie spots are starting to really slow down, but some nice fish are still making it to the net.

And my personal favourite...
