hoot33 Posted August 23, 2009 Author Report Posted August 23, 2009 They all have different uses. I realize that but which one do you find yourself using most frequently?
Guest ThisPlaceSucks Posted August 23, 2009 Report Posted August 23, 2009 i like the palomar knot as it is much smaller and less visible than the clinch knot. also i can remember hank parker testing them head to head with mono on his show years ago and the palomar outperformed the clinch knot by a few lbs on breaking strength.
Syn Posted August 23, 2009 Report Posted August 23, 2009 For tying swivel, snap 30 and 50lb braid on 8-12 mono and 6-10 flouro same knot but I don't double it.
splashhopper Posted August 23, 2009 Report Posted August 23, 2009 what knot should I be using on 30lb braided line ( power Pro) ?
Kinger Posted August 23, 2009 Report Posted August 23, 2009 I like the Rapala knot for cranks. Palomer for most other hook/lure tying. Improved clinch when i don't care about "finesse".

Haha - that's awesome. I read an article from Hank Parker in Bassin' like 15+ years ago with the same results... that's why I always use the The Palomar Knot.

JohnF Posted August 23, 2009 Report Posted August 23, 2009 palomer hands down But a loop with Rapalas. JF
Greencoachdog Posted August 23, 2009 Report Posted August 23, 2009 But a loop with Rapalas. JF Double Surgeons Loop for cranks and some jigs, Improved Clinch for everything else.
ohhenrygsr Posted August 23, 2009 Report Posted August 23, 2009 Palomar for lures, jigs etc and blood knot for tying 2 lines together
JohnF Posted August 23, 2009 Report Posted August 23, 2009 Palomar every time. I really wanted that knot to work on my minnows - but it doesn't. Gotta tie a loop on Raps and AC Shiners etc. They just don't move right locked on tight. JF
BillM Posted August 23, 2009 Report Posted August 23, 2009 I usually use the improved Trilene knot for mono and flouro, the palomar for braid... I find that if I don't make enough twists with braid while using a Trilene knot, it will slide through...

Gotta tie a loop on Raps and AC Shiners etc. They just don't move right locked on tight. JF I hear you, John; that said, I use a leader or snap alot of the time if I'm fishing cranks or jerkbaits, because I change baits often until I feel I've figured out what's working, and I hate re-tying. Also, there are always pike where I fish, so the leader is pretty much a must. I tie direct to the lure for topwater, where it doesn't make any difference to the action.
