  1. Thanks guys. Has a friend recommended Gannon’s Narrows marine near Ennismore so I dropped it there. Will update on the experience.
  2. Just sized that isnt he actual route I take .i could take any of those routes thiugh....
  3. Hey guys I have a 70 HP 1985 Johnson i just bought and it was cheap so it of course has issues. its feul starved so I assume the carbs need cleaned out or (hopefully not) rebuilt. i live in Markham but the boat is south of Gooderham so I can drop it anywhere between here and there. looking for someone I can trust who isn’t going to take me for an unecessary ride. who do you trust? thanks in advance as always .
  4. Stupid question - As the motor runs does it charge the starting battery? I assume the answer is yes - but like I said, I'm a real noob at this. Thanks
  5. Hey guys - bought a boat off of Kijiji with no battery, but 125HP Mariner. Also has a fish finder, radio and of course running lights. Do I need two battery setup to run all of this stuff? A starting and a deep cycle or can I run it all off of one battery? Also - where is the best place to buy? Of course I'm looking to save money but if warranty outweighs savings, then I'm open to that. Thanks in advance - I've only really ever owned a small boat that didn't really need a battery.
  6. We bought a cottage on a lake just West of Kawartha Highlands. I don't know to give you the lake name because I don't want to offend anyone. lol. Some guys in recent weeks told me nothing is currently in season the lakes as it only has Muskie and Bass and a few really small perch. They specifically said there was no bluegill in the lake. Is it possible that there are no Crappie or Panfish in a lake in that Buckhorn/ Bobcaygeon region? I've never heard of such a thing - surely they are mistaken - right?
  7. Awesome thx guys As usual you're the best
  8. This is a project boat so it's unlikely it's stolen or anything. Is it possible to get new title and registration with bill of sale? Thanks!
  9. I recently bought a cottage up north of buckhorn that was apparently solar but the previous owners took the panels when he bank foreclosed. So I'm trying to piece it back together or find the most cost effective way to get power. We don't need a lot, but we do need a fridge and would like some hot water as well obviously. I've looked at the propane options and it seems that might be the best way to go since those would be the biggest power drains and then piece together a smaller solar system to power lights and the water pump from the lake. I've also put in a request to see how much running hydro in form the road will cost but I expect that isn't going to be cheap. Thoughts? Opinions? Experience? Thanks Wask
  10. Hahaha. Sadly... yes. Someone thought they would just use it in a pinch and probably lost a body part.
  11. Terrible man, sorry to see that happen.
  12. Thanks guys, I ended up finding a peach of a deal at a cottage in Burk's Falls. Thanks for the responses, I'll add them to my list of places for the future. Appreciate the feedback!
  13. Ahhh, good question. Im in Markham 2-3 hours would be good but for the right situation maybe even a little further. Would also consider good cottage/ trailer deal too. Thanks!
  14. Hey guys, we are in the last minute crazy search for a place to camp this weekend (Thurs check in - our Monday). Looking for a place with camping (powered as a bonus) a beach for the kids to swim and preferably some smaller water for my small 12 foot boat and some fishing. Parks Ontario is pretty jammed up but I know there is a ton of knowledge around here to I thought you guys might know some campgrounds where I might find some availability. Thanks in advance as always.
  15. Last minute camping trip, going to get away tonight if we can Taking a group so looking for a place that is easily accessible to fish preferably in a stream. Taking some kids so pan fish is ok but bass would be ideal. Thanks!
  16. Hey guys, been a long time since I've been around and a long time since I fished the Salmon run. I have a friend that wants to come up and fish the salmon run in Southern Ontario. We were thinking Bowmanville, Port Hope ext. What is the window for that? My best recollection was it was the first big rain after the weather turns but about when is that? Thanks in advance...
  17. Thanks for the reply on this and the pms guys - anyone else have any insight into fishing in Markham? I live near the hospital near 9th line and 7. Thanks! Hope it was ok to dig up this old thread.
  18. Hey guys I just moved to markham, which is a far cry from the kawarthas fishing wise. I saw the rouge river (I think) - is it fishable? I live close to 9th line and 7 - any other recommendations close? Prefer bass but will fish for anything - lol. Thanks
  19. Catfish feed nocturnally. You might catch the odd one in the day. UT the majority are at nit. True in Peterborough and down south in west virginia.
  20. Sorry guys, I know I've seen this several times on the board, but I can't trick the search feature inot showing the results I'm looking for. I am looking at buying a boat in the US, only a $2000 one, and bringing it back next week. What do I need to do in preparation. I've seen conflicting information several places. Some say you have to fax the title to customs 72 hours in advance, some don't mention it. Anyone know? Anyone actually done this? Some sites suggest that you basically just drive up to the border with our bills of sale/ titles in hand and it is as easy as pie. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. Wask
  21. In the Ohio River one of our favorites were Chicken Livers, but take a pair of your wife's (or your) old pantyhose, make a little pouch to put the livers in so it doesnt fly off your hook. We used to catch MONSTERS on them. Also - giant Gold fish are a great choice as well. What i've been told, never tried them though.
  22. I've seen bulk baits in tackle shops (Gagnon in Oshawa and in Bridgenorth). Senkos that come in a variety of colors (and other types at Gagnon) but are just rebranded on a generic label with the tackle shop name on them. I like them, but was wondering if anyone know who sells/ pours/ distributes these baits. Thanks!
  23. Great report and what an impressive photo stringer!
  24. If I'm targeting stream smallmouth and fishing pockets - rebel craw, usually in nest robber color. I use these in larger rocky rivers and lakes too. For lake smallmouth, I senko them to death. I prefer a grey or silver colored senko, fished Texas or Wacky - almost a guarantee.
