Rich Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 Quite honestly leechman, the musky I spotted today on the bay was probably that size. I thought it was a huge log until it moved. Wish I could get MINE to bite! lol
Sandbag Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 That is just plain awesome...pass on my congrats. He'll be talking about that one for some time. Cheers Craig
irishfield Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 IT sure does Darsky.. could be the angle or it could be a 58.. not a 48. Nobody will believe my 53.5" x 24/25 from Tuesday is really that long if this one is only 48 inches! Beauty fish for sure!!!!
Leecher Posted October 5, 2008 Author Report Posted October 5, 2008 Ok guys...... here is the complete story from Ryan: For the first time in our lives me and my cousin (bass-Hunter aka Ryan) decide to hit the mighty O. for some skies ..... the day befor he makes me a present of 2 trolling braces! THANX alot! we start the day @ around 9 am .... yep thats a pepsi in my hands ! we start shallow 6 - 10 FOW at this point we are using two MiG spinner baits ... one is orange the other is yellow perch patern.... 2 houres FLY BY nothing .... but with the nice CHOP on the water and fishing RIGHT IN THE PROP WASH! i Was verry confident! my cousin (bass-hunter) makes a Wise decision.... he switches lures he puts a BIG FAMOUS BELEIEVER yellow with black stripes! IT PAYS OFF BIG TIME! Still in 8-9 FOW over a small weed bed! THIRD HOURE....the reel SCREEMS! he picks up the rod.... its big.... BIGG... SPLASH it makes a spectacular jump....IM LIKE!! I grab the OVER sized net that bass-addict lent us.( THANK GOD) and (THANK YOU) IN THE NET SHE GOES! Never in my life have i ever seen something as BEAUTIFULL as a MONSTER MUSKY!!! The musky was hooked in the upper right part of the outer lip! when i netted the fish i had a lil trouble unhooking it due to the fish BITTING the net! BUT i left it in the water! while unhooking!!! not a drop of blood but our was poured.... less that 2 minutes and she was back in the ottawa! id like to thank you guys for all the great INFO you gave me... IE: BIG NET ... QUICK RELESE....QUICK PICK...QUICK trolling technique! and the one info from TROUTANDMUSKYHUNTER aka Steve! RIGHT IN THE PROP WASH! IF it wasent for all the great knowledge of this site that musky might have not made it back to STRIKE another lure!
Mattones Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 What a beast! I'm dying to catch a Musky
TroutnMuskieHunter Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 She sure is a beauty....clean, healthy and BIG!!....I'd put her into the 50+" trophy range...Jacques (Leechman), ask Kevin if he measured right down to the tail??... We're just heading to the rink now to watch our Granddson play hockey......the boat is all gased up and the gear is loaded..I'll see you here at the house at 9:00AM, and hopefully we'll be able to hunt down one or two of those girls today Steve
MAzing Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 looks to be bigger than 48 For once someone doesn't guess or add 4 inches to his fish he gets questioned. The fish is at arms lenght so it makes it look bigger. And it's a nice horizontal hold, you can see he's not trying to exagerate his great catch. What a beauty. I remember someone posting a 50+ right around this time last year that was a couple of inches short of that one.
darsky Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 that fish is a GREAT catch and a lucky catch by the looks of the rodholder. I am pretty certain that set up is NOT meant for the trophy class fish that swim in that river. Please consider a Down East set up or possibly a Scotty. Both are meant for fish of the caliber in your picture. Feel free to pm me if you need more info.
