There is a lot of neat stuff that cars do nowadays..lighting controls, beepers, etc. You may be able to operate but you don't get the full benefit of what you own. It really helps to read the manual.

It would cost you about a hundred bucks for the permit. You are allowed to do your own work. I did my garage 2 years ago and got it all permitted and inspected..60 amp burried from the house to garage, 100 amp service in the garage...no problems and peace of mind. I have added circuits in the house without bothering as well, but that was before the garage so its all covered now.

They want something like $50.00 a gun to get them across at the border. If you have a PAL you can register them online for free. You just have to do it far enough in advance of you trip to recieve the paperwork in the mail.

If I was having trouble with getting the smaller ones I would likely move to a smaller hook and light leader...but generally I do ok with the heavy stuff, even on small specs. I'm not saying you sholdn't use the small hooks...my buddy uses tiny trebles...fine with me.

If you want to make it easier, get yourself a Canadian PAL. You can write the test..its pretty easy, do the paperwork and get the card. You then register online any firearm you want to bring over and its easy. The guys I hunt with all have it and the border guards freak when they come over and flash Canadian registrations. It takes all their fun away.
