  6. Well....at least the MNR has $5k to spend on rehabing this sensitive lake....or will they just spend it on solar panels and windmills
  7. Licenses are a tax. You can tell me anything you want about where the money goes but its still a tax. Did you know that EI deductions are a tax as well. They take Insurance premiums off of your cheque and put them into the fund and when the fund has a surplus they use them other places. Now when they put everybody out of work and the fund is broke because they spend the money other places they raise the INSURANCE premiums. Don't try to tell me that fishing licenses go to pay government fishing costs...cept for maybe the costs of a minister going to Labrador to fish
  8. I gotta renew mine and figure I may as well have a bit of fun with it. I have a 36" wide printer at work...roll feed. My temporary permit is going to be 36 x 42 Let the CO try and read that in a blizzard.
  9. Propane adds a lot of dampness...I really don't like propane
  10. In the past I have used crazy carpet. Cut it in strips and wrap the ski good and high and use roofing nails to attach it. For the uhmw guys, snowmobile sliders are uhmw. Go to a sled shop and ask them for the old sliders. I once had a sales guy really ticked at me when he had a customer buying 4 $20.00 slides for his Otter sleigh and I took the guy aside and told him he could get sliders for free from the snowmobile dealer
  11. The only reason you replied is to use that line isn't it
  12. Back Thanksgiving weekend I was out fishing with my daughter. We tried for Eyes for a while and then went over to a perch spot. Well, we got into them and I was reaching to grab her a minnow while setting my rod in the holder. When I set the rod in the holder I thought it just didn't feel right. I looked and saw my rod floating to the bottom. My daughter says...Dad..want me to go for it...I'm like...NO..its 20 feet deep and gone. She was ready to dive if I had said yes. Kinda funny really. I hokked up a bottom bouncer and a couple of J plug hooks on my walleye rod and tried a bit to snag it but we didn't have much time left as we needed to be home for Dinner. When we left I says to her...darn...should have hit the man overboard button on the GPS...she says, no need, it marks our tracks and you can just go the the spot where we spent the time. Well, 3 weeks later I finally get to take a shot at it. Went out with a friend and we fished the morning down river for Eyes. Hit 3 nice Pike to toss back but no Eyes so we headed for Perch, and Perch poles. I hooks up the bottom bouncer and a couple of J plug hooks again and drop it down. It was 20' of water and sand bottom, no weeds there so I figured I had a pretty good shot at it.. If these hooks touch any part of the rod or line I will get it. Well, first pass over the spot and it feels heavy. I tell my buddy...this is it and he grabs the line and starts pulling. 20' later and a 6'6 St Croix ultra light with a Shimano 500 is back on board. It started to rain and snow after that so no more fishing but I was happy with my days catch anyway.
  13. About 25 years ago I was laid off and needed an oil change. I went to the parts store and gathered up the oil and filter, added it up and saw that I was going to save $5.00 I put it all back on the shelf and went to the jiffy lube drive thru...I will not do an oil change on my vehichle..I will do it on my boat, sled, ATV, but not my truck...it just ain't worth it. But that was funny

  18. sounds like you have enough weight in scrap aluminum there to buy yourself a new motor and go fishing rather than work on stuff
  19. You think thats funny? How bout this. The other day, a guy I work with walks into the office carrying a gold plated 45 cal lever action rifle...not in a case. He walks through the main office and into my office and holds it up and says...hey...like my new gun. I look up and say...wow, that ever pretty. A couple days later I have my 270 bolt on my desk messing with setting up the scope with one of the supervisors. This is pretty standard stuff around here. Try doing that downtown big smoke
  20. I stayed there with the family a few years ago...the river had OPP all over the place so I head north now...there were a few walleyes around...up the little narrows to the left, up river from camp was ok some nights
