  1. I can't recall who, but wasn't the founder of the site a member here? http://www.fish-hawk.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=44383 Wasn't eTackle a real eStore?
  2. likely now being used by someone with a fancy float rod and reel - trying to fish a fish that is spawning, after killing another fish to get the roe. with risk of sounding like Paul, --- BAN FISHING WITH ROE AND THIS WONT HAPPEN ---
  3. shimano's customer service has fallen off the cliff and is spiraling out of control. i had a broken crankbait rod that took 10 months to replace the rod. i had four nrx reel seats fail (glue issue). i had shimano 4000 ci4 drags fail on the FIRST king salmon hooked. the list will go on and on. unfortunately no other manufacturer has picked up the slack when comparing to high end equipment.
  4. "What this has done is put a second guess into every cop when a matter of lethal force happens... IMHO this will impact not only the copper and deceased's families but the families of many other civilians and officers because the second thought will cause a moment of indecision putting lives at risk" I hope you are correct. Before lethal force is used, a second guess SHOULD be used. I'm quite sure if this second guess was used in all cases, there would be more good as a result than harm. This thread also makes me question just what will it take for a police officer NOT to take a side of a fellow police officer - I'm starting to wonder if it is even possible.
  5. its amazing how many young anglers he has influenced in his day. a big loss to the fishing community.
  6. A legend around the Hamilton fishing scene. A true role model. He was one of the first who sat me down and explained the importance of reading the water, looking beyond what is directly in front of me, and seeing the "big picture". Sound fluffy...however, the advice likely helped me more than anything else I have learned to date. He was a top notch angler, as is his son Bruce. Sad news indeed.
  7. its august... there will always be early running the first week of august... very small runs, but will be there....especially if there is some water coming out of the rivers and creeks.
  8. a small piece of a pool noodle can be also used when breaking down a wire rod (two piece rod). Just run the wire around it, splitting the two rod sections so that the wire doesn't kink.
  9. these completion dates are planning well in advance.... i'm very sure the expected completion date would have been just prior to the long weekend. someone got is some big trouble when it was determined that the project would not be complete prior to the long weekend.
  10. "I would suggest shopping around and test driving other diesel SUV. Such as BMW X5, audi Q7, VW taureg, and mercedes B class.." Truck was $17G....not exactly expensive ... and cheaper than my Yukon when I bought it. I test drove the truck here in question. Didn't have enough power for my liking. I guess I was just used to the 5.3 Vortec's power. I'll keep looking...hope I can find another Yukon SLT in my price range. Thanks for the advice all !!!
  11. hmmm, thanks for the advice. sounds like a quality vehicle with some extra maintenance costs. may be test driving it tomorrow. thanks again gents.
  12. Hello, I've owned a 2003 Yukon SLT for the last 7 years .... and I'm thinking its time for an upgrade. Anyone know anything about the Grand Cherokee Overland Diesel's? I must admit, I don't know much about the Jeep line of trucks ... and I've never owned a diesel before. Gas mileage is gas mileage...it has never been much of a concern for me. I'm thinking more along the lines of reliability, Quinte in December, rough northern ramps (that can't even be called ramps, lol). My Yukon never let me down .... handled everything I could throw at her. Oh, I tow a boat package that weighs about 1,800 lbs.
  13. even with the silly poses, those are some beautiful bass!
  14. nail knots and double nail knots are very strong... but for simple knot situations, for my every day use - salmon and bass - I use the surgeons knot. four wraps and I'm good to go. I'm just very careful when tightning the knot so it clinches properly.
  15. the cold(er) than average Lake Ontario temps have kept the bluezone from really setting up.... normally its a pretty warm surface then a good temp break 25' to 40' down - that's where the trout stack up (as well as the ho's). this year the temp breaks are not as evident ... yet. if your looking for bows, for some reason the west end of lake ontario, hamilton to bronte, has been on fire, with many double digit rainbow outings going on right now... just run spoons in the top 40'
  16. 97.7 for me. jason was always my fav on the DBS. now that he's hosting the show with biggs, i think he's much more in his element. tickles will return ---- somewhere.
  17. Nor does having a sparkle boat make him a "pro". I hate hearing that. Promotional Staff - maybe. Professional? - not likely.
  18. i own 16 tekota's and only the 800lc have I ever had an issue with. you just hit a bad one.
  19. I think the REAL question is, should there be a governing body (or something similar) that will stop FOUR tournaments in ONE body of water, in ONE week - like there was during this example.
  20. Like Mike said above, the worst is when they are GOOD anglers - or at least "appear" to be. On bass opener there was a fellow who was on the lake we were on. He had a beautiful 21' bass boat and a 300 hp on the back ... but it was always docked. Our last evening his nice looking wife called us over to join them for "fish and beer". How can one say no to that? Well, once on shore I asked whose beautiful boat it was - trying to get some local bass info. Instead I was told by the owner that he was a "pike tournament fisherman"....didn't know there was such a thing. He then followed by telling me of the 14lbs bass his dad caught, and the 10lbs bass he caught....but those were only the small ones. How can someone claim to be a "anything" tournament fisherman and not know how silly they sound spouting 10lbs and 14lbs bass .... as SMALL ones!
  21. frodo, if the lodge is giving discounts/reduced pricing based on the public report(s), it's not.
  22. Had a NRX 803S spinning rod break on me a few weeks ago. As it has the NRX Wildcard program, I called my local shop, but they didn't have it in stock. They could have ordered it, but suggested I call around, as you can replace the rod at any authorized dealer (who has the rod in stock). Called Kitchener's Natural Sports. First I asked if the rod was in stock, before mentioning any warranty issue. They had it. I then mentioned the Wild Card and if I need to bring with me anything further than the Wild Card and the rod. At first they were hesitant - I don't think they have had a wild card exchange yet. They did mention to send it to Shimano, but I corrected them, and advised them of how the program works. Immediately they agreed, told me to come in. Once there I was treated great. They had the new rod waiting. Simply took my broken one, my wild card, and asked for my information. They were very friendly, which helped my decision to drop some dollars on some senko's. That's what they want right? Help out a customer that in turns spends some dough in their shop. Friendly, helpful, and seemed rather busy at the time. Great service from a shop that I don't visit all too often (so no, I wasn't a regular, just good service provided).
  23. Here's a photo of a quillback I caught. This one was caught in Lake Erie back in 2007 or 2008. (on a stick bait)
  24. "Do you not think that a manufacturer (Fulton in this case) doesn't do their homework on "negligence, due diligence, qualified, expert, etc". If the risks were great, the product wouldn't be released to the general public. If installation was was such that a qualified expert was required, again, it would not be released to the general public." Many many errors in the above statement. I'll call around some trailer shops for help / advice.
  25. Jigger, both myself, and the person I'm trying to get the information for, work in insurance. That is why he wants a qualified shop to handle the modification. Does the Cerka shop in Milton do the install? Thanks, Steve
