  1. to confirm, yes, insurance companies use what is called "fault determination rules"....these do not follow the highway traffic act. so hta and copper can say your "not at fault" while the fdr will place you at 100% at fault. i don't agree with it one bit. also, the insurance adjuster DOES NOT have to review any dashcam footage.....you'll likely have to hire a lawyer to get the insurance company to review any applicable footage.
  2. if you are, why are the indians not killing off the cormorants? this, to me, would be the most positive thing that they can contribute to our fishery. between quinte and nipissing, the cormorant populations are out of control. we know the indians follow their own rules, not rules set out by governments. it would be a HUGE FREAKING STEP FORWARD if they would just take care of the situation. they have the ability. it would be a most positive contribution to our outdoors.....and a nice change.
  3. grimsbylander, unfortunately Transport Canada is not in the OPP Marine boat when they pull ya over. I tested the "sufficient knowledge" portion. I'm very confident there isn't another angler who has spent more time in Western Lake O over the last 10 years than myself. I was quickly told I did not have sufficient knowledge as I was unable to name the patterns of flashing lights on shell pier, nor could I advise that a fictitious point didn't exist on Lake Ontario.
  4. not me....i'll mount just about any species. 16lbs walleye, 50lbs muskie, 8lbs bass, 25lbs brown, 40lbs king, 30lbs pike, 20lbs rainbow, lots of options out there just each one is going to be a true trophy, not just a "nice fish".
  5. Boss, ron mclean has been in hockey before he was on coaches corner. where did you get that idea?
  6. i don't concern myself with whether the fish is producing eggs or not... i just set my standards high... to many a 10lbs walleye is a wall hanger....each to their own. 16lbs walleye will turn some heads.....myself included..... that'll go on my wall. skin mount.
  7. while fishing a fairy remote back lake last year I saw the MNR for the first time in my life. of course my wallet was at the cottage, but I had my powerboat operators card in the boat. he didn't have any computer/hand held device that could run my name, however, I was very polite to him. I was actually fishing a shoreline when he drove past on his ATV. So he called me to shore...in theory I could have pretended to ignore him and go on my way. Even when I realized I didn't have my wallet on me, I continued to him, ready to take my lumps so to speak. Because of this he called in my name to the local dispatch and confirmed I was licensed. Well, wouldn't you know it the next day the OPP were on the water. This little northern lake hadn't seen much activity in the decade we were going there, but all of a sudden two checks in two days.... As the OPP were checking the other two boats on the lake, I went to zip over to camp to get my wallet. As soon as I took off, the started following me. Followed me almost all the way to camp. (15 minutes). I pretended not to see them, lol. Catching me just before the cottage they thought they had a score...they checked my boat, found nothing, all safety equipment on board. They were confused, and asked me why I "ran". I said I didn't have my fishing license on me, and told them the story of the day before. They laughed and said they don't check fishing licenses, and because I had my powerboat operators card, they wouldn't even check Id to confirm it was me.... I could have stayed fishing ..... I guess the best thing to do, in both those cases, is to just be honest.
  8. Wow is what i'm hoping people will say when it's on my wall. 16lbs+ = bonk. Wow is what "I" feel when people want purchased plastic on their wall .... each to their own.
  9. there is one trick, but likely won't work for the person who is using it as a trick. after buying the map, i've been checked three times. all three times they asked to see my charts. once i took out the "tube", they didn't ask me to take the map "OUT" of the tube.... i know a couple anglers who only have tubes - empty.
  10. it wont. they want to see the full sized paper charts....freaking thing takes up half the front of my boat when un-scrolled.
  11. I'd love to see a photo of the 18lbs'er.... even if it is just the mount.... that is freaking huge!!! 16lbs is the biggest I've seen in photo or otherwise. Amazing fish Paul !
  12. That guy is "Russ". He won't be at the hut until at least May. His number is: 905-549-5622
  13. Thats interesting. Many bass fisherman here feel the same way about trout and salmon.
  14. no one is crazy enough (except us) to pay him what he's making.
  15. ahhh, i assumed you just towed them around with you.....keeping ya refreshed
  16. Mike and Bill, you two have ballz. Didn't you know the MNR have satellites that show close ups and thus, those beers. Then the MNR Ninja's appear from a cloud of smoke to bust ya!!!
  17. you know, i agree with the assessment of St. Louis being dumb... but.... players want to play for team Canada. he was snubbed. so off he went. i agree Yzerman did well...considering....
  18. i'm sorry man. when we put down our dog in 2007, I never got another... time is supposed to heal.... we are only now thinking about getting another..... again, very sorry.
  19. my 201 calais is my favourite BC I own. its just so rock solid. wish they didn't discontinue them.
  20. Bill, "bring back Komorov". You Aren't Joking!!! (yes, I'm biased being a FInn, but BRING BACK KOMOROV!!!) Sign him for a couple years and I'll finally have a name to put on the back of my jersey
  21. well ..... a resort on hay bay had to stop their big fish fry due to the mnr. anglers would go out in the morning, catch walleye (within their limit) and then give them to the folks who were doing the cleaning/cooking. this caused the folks cleaning/cooking to have more than their limit. the mnr didn't fine anyone, but stopped the practice. now folks cook their own fish .... kinda eliminated the nice fish fry / social event ....
  22. likely not even have to add the pick. if kesler wants out, and kadri being overrated, i'd say you might get away with kadri and reims for kesler.
  23. i agree with those who say towing close to the max weight, or above, is more about vehicle damage then safety. before I bought my Yukon I towed a 17' lund pro guide with 50hp 4 stroke, three srm 29 batteries, and everything else that goes in a boat....i'm sure the weight was 1500lbs or more. i towed it with a 1994 Chevy Lumina V6 with 1000lbs towing capacity. bought the tranny cooler, bought oversize brake pads and bought cargo springs for the back. towed for four years without any issues braking or the like. i just towed it very carefully. but it beat the hell out of my car......lots of brake pads, rotors, etc. in the end I also blew the tranny and engine......BUT never once did I have a problem with safety. when towing with the lumina i saved for my truck.... so i guess what i'm saying is, tow with what you have, and save for a real tow vehicle..... 4x4 v8's are the best for towing - absolutely. but they are not necessary.
  24. i was just joking...... (unless you want to make that trade, lol)
  25. but did you get threatened by them for not having a Lake Ontario map? or better yet, when you challenge them to determine if you have "sufficient knowledge" they make up the name of a point, and when you look at them with a confused look on your face, you get told "see, if you had sufficient knowledge you'd know that landmark doesn't exist".....say what??!! or when i ask them for a second question, after their first one was pure bogus, they ask me what the pattern of the flashing lights on shell pier means? i was fishing solo and lost it on them... i almost got arrested over the issue. the next time i got checked, one of the guys in the boat recognized me from the last harassing. however, he apologized for his retarded co worker and just let me go on my way.... so you can tell its a few bad apples...unfortunately in the marine police case, the bad apples are the senior ones, and the rest of the guys won't step up. at the last sportsman show, the opp had a booth there. i asked them what the pattern of lights were on the shell pier and they just laughed....asking my why I'm asking them....i told them the story and both of the booth attendants looked at each other a muttered a name....guess the winner is the senior officer for the marine unit out of Hamilton/Bronte.
