this is a major bummer! i too saw Paco in Toronto a number of years ago, at Massey Hall... I went in with high expectations, and he met each and every one. His playing with Al Dimeola is nothing short of amazing. Sad day in the guitar world.

I'd love to hear more about this? I've caught browns in very shallow water, with plugs that dive only inches below the surface, but never on a top water?! Like a popper? Were you sight fishing? Sounds awesome!

i use leadcore a lot. i'm not sure i'd be using it in a river where there is any decent current. likely wouldn't get much depth due to the diameter of the leadcore in the current. (going against the current of course). I also wouldn't be trolling down current with leadcore...i could just imagine that mess. in fact, the more i think about it, the more I realize it isn't going to be easy to run core in any current. maybe look into that new(er) micro leadcore...the one with the substantially reduced diameter. the current may not affect it as much.

the note above about be careful with the handle. its funny you mentioned that. my dad has a pflueger president reel....he has had it for a long time...however, his handle "stripped" in the first year of use. the tackle shop took a handle off another pfleuger and he hasn't had an issue since. i should mention dad's reel has been rock solid in the 8 years he's owned his pfleuger....and he only owns one spinning reel....as such it gets A TON of use! I wish my Stradics held up like his pfleuger has....

so many concern themselves with wide angle lenses, hiding hands, and sticking fish directly infront of the camera - oh, and of course looking at the "fish" instead of the "camera". Internet photography 101. you on the other hand don't concern yourself with inflated hero shots....rather, the nature and beauty of fishing becomes primary... as such, the way you approach a photo puts you in a league of your own.

thanks Bill, I just checked Bing Maps... (as I generally use Google) How did u see the boat ramp? I was able to see Sportsman Lodge, but I wasn't able to locate a boat ramp nor a satellite view that showed a boat ramp. Is there a way I can improve my Bing maps?

thanks mike, i appreciate it. i don't know anything about the area and want to take a friend who isn't really a fisherman.... so I'm running blind..... I saw there was a lodge on Kukagami.....but couldn't even determine if there was a launch at the lodge...figured i'd email them if I didn't get any info from here.... Ashigami appears to be a smaller lake, but still big enough, which might make it a better bet...but no idea about launching facilities. thanks again. cheers.

that's an ok reel...i'm sure you'll enjoy it.... careful using it in freezing temps (if you were planning on river fishing, or similar).... that reel isn't sealed very well...water gets in and freezes....happened to a buddy who uses that exact reel for both river fishing and ice fishing.... he's since went to a different reel...but continues to use that reel in the summer without issues.
