something i've observed over the years as a non smoker is that nothing will work unless YOU want to quit. the last two times you tried, did you have the same "i can feel them wreaking havoc on my guts every morning, and i dont wanna be chained to them anymore." feeling about the smokes? if not, it sounds like you're serious about it this time and you're ready to toss them. IMO, your mind is more powerful than any patch, gum, or pill. here's to hoping you can drop the habit. your family, kids, and taxpayers will appreciate it good luck :thumbsup_anim:

at 18 i finally got my license and got quotes on an early 90's ford tempo that were $300/month on a $500 car ended up getting a roadmaster and paid the ridiculous insurance for a few months. i ended up with a roadmaster that cost $300 /month. my dad was with state farm so i called them to see if they'd give me a discount if i switched to them to be with the same insurer as my dad and it saved me a few bucks a month. then, i found a nice little tidbit...listing myself as common law rather than single dropped my yearly rates by over $1000. within 2 years my $300/month rates on a junk car dropped to $160/month for a newer dakota with full coverage. their theory is people who are in a serious relationship are more mature and less likely to cause accidents. 9 years and 3 speeding tickets later my house, truck, atv, and motorcycle (newly licensed with a xt250) are $260/month with full coverage. FYI...state farm still gives a discount at 25. but, because i already had the marriage discount applied, when i turned 25 my rates only dropped $7/month. they said this would have been a much bigger drop if i wasn't already listed as common law. another FYI for state farm customers. they offer a 15% discount (on top of the driving school discount) for drivers under 25 who are willing to watch a safety video and keep a driving log. this could result in huge savings for many new drivers...

yes, most of the other replies speak of ice packs and cold water. but, considering i had over a couple dozen emerald shiners in my 30 gallon tank from last winter up until october, i'll let you decide who's right. you'll probably want a bigger tank as the temperature changes will be less significant, you can hold more fish, and a larger tank is easier to keep/maintain. it's much easier keeping minnows alive after you've kept aquariums for a while and understand the basics of keeping fish. if you've done everything properly the ONLY type of minnow that's mushy when thawed are the ones that were mushy before hitting the freezer (ie. the beginning of catfish bait)

an aquarium in the basement (usually cooler with minimal temp changes) is the easiest option overall. once your biological filter is setup and the algae eaters start growing it's nearly maintenance free. i use a homemade filter made with a small pond pump and small plastic garbage can filled with sponges and scrubby pads that keeps the 30 gallon tank crystal clear. bread crumbs work great for food. the aquarium and lights were free off kijiji and everything else was under $40.

quiet you, no room for logical thinking here i fail to understand how people cannot accept evolution and how it allows living creatures to adapt to their environment when WE are perfect examples of it. the fact that some people think all livings things are the way they are today because "someone" said so is humorous. humans evolved to deal with their environment. take skin color for example, it's not a coincidence that the farther from the equator you travel the "whiter" people tend to be. humans originated in africa where black skin evolved to deal with the sun and white skin came later when humans began colonizing areas outside of africa. fact trumps opinion every time

really? there's been tons of sightings of cougar in ontario that i wouldn't believe if i hadn't seen that big cat 2 years ago, but in my entire life i have only heard of a couple ontarians claiming that bigfoot is out there??? seeing as i'm a "gotta see it to believe it" type it was impossible for me to comprehend that cougar, a species that is actually known to man, exists around here without seeing it myself. as with aliens and ghosts, i'll continue not believing in them until someone proves that these mythological beings exist...

hey, i was just repeating what i've always been told. i never said i agreed or disagreed. that said, more than half the meat i eat is either shot or caught by myself and i eat organic/wild grown fruit, veggies, berries, mushrooms, and other goodies that can be found in the bush as often as possible. i guess i've been following the "caveman" diet for years without realizing. i live by the "doctor's don't know squat and i'll eat whatever i want" diet while staying away from the garbage food and additives that are too common.

forget about rubs and scrapes until next season because the majority of doe's have been bred by now and bucks are thinking more about food than breeding at this point. there's probably some doe's around that haven't been bred yet and any bucks in the area will be looking for them and possibly even chasing still. at this time of year i'd be hunting the doe's and their feeding area's in hopes of seeing a buck chasing any remaining unbred doe's. don't forget that the controlled hunt can really screw with the deer in small and/or heavily pressured area's.

buck 110 folding knife and a butt out for me. field dressing a deer can be done with a razor blade, 2" pocket knife, fillet knife, or a machete etc and doesn't require any specialized tools. my point being pick whatever knife you like that fits your budget. be careful when field dressing deer as i'm sure i'm not the only one here that has seen or heard of someone cutting themselves while gutting a deer without realizing it...

yes, like some other large cats. i'd normally call Bull on this happening in SW ontario, but two of us watched a cougar jump across the trail while quading a couple years ago...

high cholesterol and saturated fats in red meat are a couple reasons you should limit your intake. fish is definitely a healthier alternative assuming it's not taken from the hamilton harbor and deep fried before being dipped in tartar sauce...

if you're still not seeing any buck sign you're either hunting the wrong area's, resident bucks have moved off to find hot doe's, or they've all been shot in your area. the rut starts at roughly the same time of year every year regardless of weather or hunting pressure, but the deer will definitely behave differently if conditions aren't favorable. warm weather during the rut often means nocturnal movement and the rut still continues, but many hunters make the mistake of thinking the rut simply hasn't started yet because they're not seeing any bucks or chasing. you simply need to adapt to the "weird" rut in your area to fill your tag. this could mean hunting an area of the bush you've always avoided, setting up closer to bedding area's, making a drive with a couple buddies, or even using a decoy. at this time of year, especially with this cold snap, you really should be in the bush as much as possible as deer will often be moving all day. get out there even if you can only make it out for an hour or two. i'm hoping for some more snow asap so i can get out there to track a buck and put him on the ground with the crossbow.

i usually don't have a scale or tape with me while fishing, so you'll have to settle for pics of my 2012 PB's. 4ft or so... i believe my biggest couple perch of the year are in there somewhere... mrs kitty... biggest was 28"...

many shows and documentaries on tv have shown the purchase and use of illegal drugs. i'm thinking there must be some privacy legal mumbo jumbo that the film crews can't report the offenders to the police if they agree to be filmed for a documentary?

if you saw as many yotes, turkey, and deer as i have out there in the last couple years you'd wanna hunt there too. the shooter in this incident shouldn't have had a firearm in the first place and this could have easily happened anywhere. the natives i know can't remember the last time someone was shot while hunting out there. i really need to look into hunting on the reserve. would a non native follow the normal MNR regulations?

like i said, "our" rules do not apply as soon as you cross onto six nations land. but, seeing as non natives aren't suppose to live on the reserve, i'm not sure if a non native is even permitted to hunt there or not. i'll have to get back to you on that one as i'd love to hunt out there.

it was the best day of fishing i've ever had to be honest. it's going to be hard to top it, but i'm making another trip this week with some new lures and sharper hooks. hopefully they build the rapala's stronger these days, that one was old and didn't fair too well.

do NOT get a solid axle ATV if you're going to use it for anything besides farm work. they ride very rough compared to IRS machines and already have a lower ground clearance than comparable IRS machines meaning a loaded ATV with IRS has more clearance than an empty solid axle atv. your back will thank me later. i really agree with low PSI in the tires though. i usually run 0-1 PSI in my XTR's when heading out on the lake, but they're also radial tires and much stiffer than 6 ply. in general, aggressive tires that are good in the mud suck in deep snow as most mud tires are designed to dig (gorilla silverbacks) rather than push (highlifter outlaws) and it's because of this that so many guys have "summer" and "winter" tires. you'll have zero issues bottoming out in deep snow when using non aggressive tires that make you float on the snow while your buddies ATV's with muddin tires are sinking out of sight. my ITP mud lite XTR's fall under this category so rather than buying new tires i simply switch tires from one side to the other so the treads/traction arrow are backwards. studded stock tires are often hard to beat in deep snow and ice...

he was using a scoped rifle and the general consensus on the reserve (after talking to 5 or 6 natives yesterday) is that this was not an accident as people are fully aware of the shooters issues...

i've been atving on the reserve for a few years now and know a few people out there, including the people that live beside the field where this happened. none of the hunting rules that apply to us apply to the reserve. therefore, the victim was legally bowhunting on sunday even though archery was closed in the area until monday, the day after the controlled hunt ended. he was not wearing orange because it's not required on the reserve during our controlled hunt. on the reserve, natives are allowed to hunt with whatever firearm they choose, whenever they want, for whatever they want. all of the natives i've spoken to claim that's it's 100% legal to hunt from roads on the reserve and i have no reason to think otherwise. they're also allowed to use spotlights and rifles aka "jacking" at night for deer. ZERO excuses for this happening regardless of what you're local rules say.

this is all they were talking about on the radio in january when we went to florida. i wonder why it took so long for the news to get here?
