well, i did say "i could be wrong" and apparently i was. i guess there is a first for everything :D i'm not looking for each marinas prices, but what kinda prices have you been finding for renting boats?

odd. i think you'd be hard pressed to find another person with the same opinion as yours. i've always been met with smiles and don't have a single complaint after buying minnows, snacks, and launching there 15-20 times. i could be wrong, but me thinks you're somehow associated with sandboy after reading your post :spam:

unfortunately, many of these can be seen in the canals at turkey point in the spring when targeting crappie. apparently they're around in the summer too

i've been working on swing stages for 4 years and have worked beside many people. i've only met one guy that actually refused to tie off and he never got to leave the ground. 99% of the guys i've seen and worked with always tie off when they should. i could care less if you want to die, but i don't want to watch you fall... i've setup the rigging and lines on many buildings and many older buildings do not have roof anchors where you attach safety lines and rigging tie backs. they're expensive and can take a while to be installed, so i'm wondering if the building didn't have tiebacks and the contractor didn't want to wait and/or a shady building owner looked the other way. it was probably overloading and/or damaged equipment that caused the stage to fail in the first place, but does anyone know the root cause?

that's not that bad for a rig that catches tons of fish, but i haven't been seeing many reports of using the alabama rig with exceptional results. i'd bet they would be great when the fish are in an aggressive mood, especially when you're seeing other bass follow the hooked one to the boat. hmmmm...they would work great under a float for catfish to really get a scent trail goin

IMO, these thing's seem like they'd be more of a PITA than anything and it's amusing that everyone jumps on the bandwagon because someone used it to win a tourney. a perfect example why companies pay big money to have these walking billboards promote their products. but, it seems like the majority of reports i've heard/read aren't exactly proving this rig to be a real winner. how much do they cost?

this report is a bit late, but i'm sure nobody will mind while trolling for pike a month ago at a very unique long point location i was marking the odd single big fish and after a few passes i hooked into this bad boy. i figured it was a big pike that was staying on bottom and pulling like a tank, so i can only imagine the look on my face when this thing appeared. i've never caught any catfish while trolling before. caught him on the bigger sized williams wabbler (3.5-4"?) 135ft back off a planer board going 3.5 mph. any guesses on it's weight? for reference, that's my hand and i'm 6'1...

x2 the little bow was floating on the surface rather than swimming down around 3:38 or so. i just entered the trolling gig this spring and am still very green, but with other species i've always taken the time to revive them before release. i'm also wondering what the "norm" is for releasing salmon and trout.

i'm using 40 lb flouro leader material with heavy swivels and snap swivels to make my own leaders for a fraction of the cost of ready made. bass pro has offshore angler saltwater flourocarbon leader material in 25m spools. the leaders on all 4 rods i've been running this year still look brand new after a bunch of pike so i'll be sticking with this line.

the time has finally come to be my own boss and have a legitimate business. has anyone recently started a small construction business in ontario with the assistance of a government funded program? what other options do i have besides going at it on my own? for anyone in the concrete business or construction... i have 8 years experience doing almost everything concrete related and i'm still wondering if starting my own business (small residential) is the right option or should i become a journeyman and go union *cringe* from what i've read, my experience will make it possible to skip most of the schooling and hours required to write my exam to become a journeyman.

when i found my pet possum he was smaller than that one and it wasn't long before he was using a litter box on his own and roaming the house. pretty much the same as an average cat as far as behavior goes, but way cooler.

awesome job at the rate i was going at in the spring, it would take me 7-8 trips to catch that many fish therefore, i hate you :rofl2:

i rigged this one up for the planer board rods. just slide the seat off the post and the rod holder slides right in. a new and improved model is in the works...

transom savers are a waste of money and don't do anything? to those who agree with that statement, have you ever followed someone trailering a boat with a 150hp that wasn't using a transom saver? you can see the motor bouncing up and down over bigger bumps which might not be as bad as some people make it out to be, but $50-75 is cheap insurance. no matter how you slice it, a transom saver is at least preventing normal wear and tear while on the trailer which will prolong the life of the transom. i've personally only seen two transoms that were damaged by unsupported outboards because they didn't want to "waste" the money on a transom saver. i have yet to see or hear of any damage to transoms when transom savers were used. must be a coincidence, eh? i look at it like a seat belt. 99.99% of the time it's not really doing anything, but it's definitely worth having it that one time you need it. it's not uncommon to encounter bone jarring potholes or very rough train tracks on unfamiliar roads. are hydraulics affected at all when not using a transom saver? how well is your motor going to perform after the skeg and prop are grinding on the road for a while after the rare case of your hydraulics failing while towing? about 10-12 years ago i remember my dad coming home early cursing and swearing at the boat. in my early teens i had no clue how expensive it was to fix a skeg and replace a prop...

i've heard nothing but good things about the traegar, but the green egg is simply too small if you're going to be smoking anything but solid chunks of meat. it would take a week to smoke a batch of jerky or pepperettes in one of those. IMO...units that are more vertical than horizontal tend to be more versatile as they allow you to smoke a wider range of foods and often have more rack space as well. it all comes down to personal preference.

"skunked" is a universal term for zero whether you're speaking of fishing, sports, board games, etc. therefore, any species of fish that you land breaks that skunk. saying that an accidental bass doesn't count towards breaking that skunk is like saying a field goal doesn't break it, only a touchdown. a fish is a fish and any point is a point. urban dictionary has a few definitions for "skunked", but they're not exactly kid friendly...

i've been using a simple electric smoker that i got from canadian tire 7-8 years ago and the food that comes out of it is just as good as any other smoker. the next one will be an old all metal fridge as i need something that's quite a bit bigger. some people tend to make smoking foods a complicated process when it can be accomplished with nothing more than a cardboard box and hot plate

exactly. i grew up shooting grackles as an early teen and it doesn't take long for them to learn which areas to avoid after seeing their buddy drop to the ground their breast meat is dark and tastes great when lightly seasoned and fried in butter...

you're looking at this the wrong way if you're going to "see" what options they'll throw in. you need to demand other options, not ask them. have you spoke to the manager yet? if not, when you call tomorrow insist that you'll speak to nobody but him to get things worked out and if he's "not available at this time" you'll be there shortly to see him. if you dropped that much money on a kitchen reno and the contractor was a month late, would you "see" what he could do for you? no, you'd be calling him and demanding answers as to why he's so late. or, you could take the laid back approach and allow them to screw you around even more before finally getting your boat in august

i guess i'm in the minority here, but if it's on paper that a product/job will be completed/delivered on a specific date it better be there or money is being taken off my bill (certain % per day), i'm getting free accessories/upgrades, or i'm getting a 100% refund. we're not talking about joe schmoe making boats in his garage where delays should be expected, this is a boat from a dealer representing one of the biggest boat brands in north america. my point? they should have their poop together and not giving customers the run around. people sitting back allowing this crap to happen definitely isn't helping the problem. that said, i definitely wouldn't be calling that outboard swap an upgrade.
