  1. My daughter bought one last year. When I shook hands with it I was sceptical but it actually felt pretty good.
  2. Glad to see you are on the mend Rick! Also good to see you posting again. Ya but you were there for 6 years!
  3. Over the last 100 or so years manufacturers have come and gone. The strong, good company's survived. They had quality products and stood behind them. The not so good didn't make it. No one bailed them out. It's what makes (or once did make) our country strong, profitable and viable. I am not an economist (who really is one? but thats another story) but to me it doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out the bailout is very wrong. If it is deemed necessary to get the economy going again give it to a strong forward thinking company, not a top heavy "lost it's track" company with too much baggage.
  4. It's like greased lightning here now Rick!
  5. It gave me time to clean out the 100,000,000 old email's on my list anyway.
  6. How are they going to sell their quota of beer and hotdogs with a short race. Concession stands do great on a caution...... Marketing!
  7. Congratulations to your daughter Jacques. Well done. It's great to see kids doing well at sports.
  8. CBC radio does not advertise as does the TV version. Radio is totally paid for by taxpayers. My vote----no more money. O ya, I do listen to it. It does have some good programming. But why do we support it as taxpayers?
  9. Have never fished the great lakes so my experience is limited on big water. But Nipissing can be treacherous too and has taken a number of lives and sunk it's share of boats My advise is watch the forcast before you go and have a portable weather radio to listen to periodically. No wind direction is safe. It would depend on where on the lake you would be fishing. Hot humid days a storm could develop that wasn't forecast. Most weather systems move in from the west but the storm could blow in from anywhere. An eye kept on the horizon is your good friend.
  10. Have used either Avast or AVG for the last 5 years. I despise Norton and Mcaffee. Slow you down and hard to get rid of. Have had no issues with viruses.
  11. Thanks for finding that picture. Much pride and care taken in those aircraft Wayne. Beautifully maintained.
  12. Thanks Joey. The ride was fun. Getting out with dad and the guys was the best part though.
  13. It's a pretty good camp Sinker. This is the third one of a long line of tradition built in 1960. Bunks 16 and lots of room. Hot and cold running water, shower, generator, propane grill, 6 burner propane stove, satellite TV, solar panel to run 12vdc lights in the morning and many other innovative ideas. But the best part is all the guys get along and contribute their skills to make it all work. Here is unpacking the groceries for the 2 week hunt. My dad in the foreground and my son on the right. Friends and relatives on the left. Shooting the breeze. You can see the bunkhouse through the doorway.
  14. I love aircraft Wayne. Been up a few times over the years and it's a thrill every time. A local aircraft club took my scout troop up about 12 years ago. It was very good of them. Here is a pic I found in dads collection of slides from around 1950. No idea what it is. By the way, an uncle of mine still runs one of those old Johnsons too. Runs like a top!
  15. Right on Wayne. Keep busy and winter will pass faster. This was the first winter in a few years I didn't have a winter project at the cottage. It sure has made the winter drag. But getting out does revitalize you. I do feel great today.
  16. Thanks Jacques. It was my first ride of the year and was fun to get out there. Was good to spend the weekend with my dad and a couple of good friends. We took out a refrigerator and I brought out an old generator to overhaul and install at the cottage. Watched the hockey game for a while but the bunk was calling early after the fresh air day and a little CC .
  17. Powassan has to be at the top of my list. People are friendly, close to schools, good doctors, quiet streets, very low crime and best of all close to Lake Nipissing. O ya............I live there/here.
  18. Hi gang. Went for a skidoo ride to the hunt camp yesterday and spent the night. The weather was clear and cool, perfect riding conditions. Seen probably a dozen deer on the way out and a bald eagle. Here's a couple of pictures along the way out. This guy was hanging out at the Restoule landfill site. Good friend Al unloading his sled. Here's me driving without a mitt freezing my hand. Wasn't sure whether this would turn out or not. Click on it to play the video. This is the sled I used on the weekend on the right. On the way home today the weather was the same. It was a little chilly this morning -26c. This guy wasn't afraid at all, just watched me as I took the shot. This is the river between Commanda and Restoule Lakes And that was the journey of the weekend.
  19. Have a Happy Birthday Joe. Hope your cold is gone soon. Did you try Coach's remedy yet?
  20. Conversely Jen you also may find that "Bob" is entirely up to date with all the latest information and tools and training. They also may have better technicians too. At the dealership level they usually work only on one brand of vehicle and they often have the same or similar issues. Makes it repetitive and some of them develop "parts changer" attitudes. Whereas in the aftermarket technicians are often diagnoses experts. I often have conversations with local dealerships that get off brand trade ins or repairs calling me for help. But to be honest it works both ways. I do call them as well if I think they can help.
  21. Well done you two! Glad to see Tybo on the go.
  22. A young fella stopped to take one of my girls to a movie. I went out to have a chat with him. I see 4 bald tires. Sorry bud but you are not taking her in that car. Next night he swings by, 4 new tires.

  24. Any parts replaced in a repair shop are yours that you are paying for. You can request them kept so you can verify. This does not apply to original warranted parts you are not paying for. But in the case of parts replaced under an extended warranty they are yours as well because you paid for the warranty. In the case that the part being replaced has a core charge you would need to pay that amount to keep the part. I don't care for R&R "technicians" either Wayne. Often they are doing it in that manner because they don't understand how to diagnose the issue or do not have the proper tools and information.
  25. What is the deal with sunglasses. How much hype is there? I usually get a pair of polarized sunglasses off the rack that fit and cover my eyes well. My brother buys Serengetti's and likes them. I tried them and found that the cheap polarized ones were much better. I was able to see deeper in the water and rock shoals were visible. It's no big deal if I lose mine or scratch them either. Can you even get polarized glass lens?
