  1. Glad to have you along ADB. Welcome!
  2. It all looked great until you mentioned the slush......Been a long time since I bogged one out in that. Not much of anything more frustrating! And what's with this going out for supper thing? Roughing it ??????????? Seriously though, it sure looked like a fine time with a good bunch of guys. Good to see a fun post!!!! Thanks Wayne.
  3. George. If you will be using the boat continually with a large load you may want to think about getting a smaller pitch propeller. This will allow the engine to stay in its powerband.
  4. I really like the "do the dishes/skunked thing". What do you think Joe? Should I get some pink latex gloves?
  5. No different than spam here. I friggen hate telemarketers. Especially if I am under a vehicle working on it and have to answer the phone and it's one of them! It's great if it's a customer or a friend or even my wife to find out what colour socks I put on this morning. I have repeatedly asked to be taken off lists but they continue to call. And I have NEVER bought ANYTHING over the phone. Apparently the do not call list is a dream come true to out of country telemarketers. Our country has no control over them and they have acquired the list. :wallbash: :wallbash:
  6. Well said JTF!
  7. I have heard talk of banning 4 strokes on some northern lakes. Seems some are changing their oil right on the lake. Hmmmm 50% better? I will grant you some % on a smaller outboard but have to disagree on 50% too.
  8. There is at least 24 " on Nipissing. This is enough to run a single axle dump truck with a load of sand. I drive my pickup out to my cottage every weekend. I stay on known ice roads and away from known current areas. In the spring there are areas on the lake that open before anywhere else. These are the same areas that the vehicles go through. Not everyone that drives on the ice is taking a risk. I don't.
  9. The smaller but heavier 130 4 stroke sunk my boat down 4 more inches into the water Mike. It was properly propped and would push the boat 35 MPH. The 175 2 stroke is every bit as quiet as the Honda and just as smooth. It really doesn't matter to me what anybody buys. I'm just trying to let people know there are good options out there.
  10. Not all of them smoke Mike. You know that. As a matter of fact there are 2 strokers out there that have less emissions than most 4 strokes. Using proper mixtures and good oil in your 2 strokers will result in less smoke too. As far as top speed I also disagree. The extra weight of the 4 stroke slows you down all things being equal.
  11. Hey Randy. You are telling it like it is. Unfortunatly. I have been worrying for the last five years too.
  12. I like 2 strokes myself. A lot of hype with the 4 strokes in my opinion. While they both have advantages it should ultimately depend on it's use. If you are taking the engine off and on your boat constantly, go 2 stroke. Lighter to lift and carry. Also an advantage is better power to weight ratio. 4 strokes are heavier and it's taking away efficentcy. I like the 2 stroke throttle responce and quick planing ability. On the other side of the coin a 4 stroke may be better on fuel. Here it will depend on how much use it will actually get. To each his own, thats why they make both.
  13. Hilarous post! Snag if there is anytime you want to come up and fish with me give me a call. You can wear a mask if you would like to remain anonymous.
  14. I'm still laughing. Thx guys!
  15. Most would end up at this place.
  16. Forget about it guys......Sorry I mentioned it. It was just a kind request is all.
  17. Thanks Boatman. I really like them too. That was my dads boat in 1959 or 60. We are the oldest Johnson dealer in Canada. It was a really sad day for us when OMC bit the dust. It was almost like family. Time still goes on.
  18. North East Shark, I would appreciate you not referring to dealerships as "stealerships". Our shop certainly isn't one and it isn't appropriate here.
  19. First question is "what kind of engine is it?" before I would say "it's easy". It also may not be cheap. Some motors used an extension housing while others you need a complete case assembly. Sometimes you can locate a used assembly too.
  20. Never totally fill a propane cylinder of any kind. Allow 20% of the space inside for expansion due to temperature increases.
  21. Exactly Roy. I have known people that work for the lottery Corp and they seem to be doing well for themselves. One of the reasons I like working for local organizations that don't go through lots of "people" to benefit local charities.
  22. Hey Beans....Around here you have to choose your words very carefully.
  23. Not really a lottery but it was even better. I inherited a cottage from my grandmother. As far as tickets go most I ever won was $85 on 649.
  24. Welcome to the OFC Community Oliver. Always good to see a new member join in the fun.
  25. I keep checking here for someone to say ....I WON I WON!!!! Hopefully someone from here wins something!
