I have sold batteries for many years in automotive applications. I can get any type of battery from any one of my several suppliers. I like selling Interstate best because I dont like my customers having problems with my repairs. By far and away Interstate has been the best one over the years for little or no problems.
My Father has been around for 75 years. He never seen a cormorant as a kid on Nipissing. They showed up here several years ago and are killing island growth and displacing other birds and their habitat as well. I have done my study on them and I didnt get paid a nickel. Time for some action-not studys!
Around rocky shorelines on Nipissing after dark with a good flashlight is the best time to view them here. I'm surprised to see that many in daylight there John.
Not that I have ever seen one but it appears it's a young one. Still wouldnt want to see one at my door. I would on the other hand like to see one in the bush-at a distance.
As far as "Anything of the year" stuff goes means not much to me. They should do these evaluations after 3 or 4 years. That tells the tale. History tells me domestics just dont cut it in reliability. A couple months ago the 03 chevy's started to show up with rotted out brake lines at my shop. This is built like a... "rock?????".... They may have improved them, they may not have either. Fine if you are trading in on a new one every three years. They are all nice when they are new. But wow-expensive!
True John...the myth does have some history though. Years ago lead/acid batterys were made with wooden cases, the electrolyte would seep through the case and react with the lime in the cement. The cooler you can keep your battery will also slow down any chemical reactions and extend battery life. A charged battery will not freeze. But a frozen discharged battery may warp or break the plates.
Good question Northhunter. There have always been good quantities of smallmouth at the east end but it seems I am catching more of them in the pickerel spots in the last few years. I believe the numbers of pickerel have been decreasing due to large numbers of ice fishermen in recent years.
If the oil came out of the bottom oil fill hole its probably OK. Water is heavier than the oil so if it was oil that came out thats OK. Likely just a bad oil fill gasket. Large amounts of water will crack or deform the case.
Good stuff on the fishing Pete. Digital is becoming the way of the world it seems. Im still learning it too but it does get easier over time.
Funny stuff Terry and Moosebunk. Keep it up guys.
No more than when an eagle takes a rabbit, or a wolf on a deer. Its nature, and dont let anyone tell you any different. Its the reason for mans own existence to eat (and a few other things). Im never going to be a veggie kinda guy.
I know of some real nice waterfront on Nipissing. But its water access only. Not far from mainland and sheltered.
And it is acreage. Price is in your range as well. It belongs to a friend of mine. PM me for info if you are interested.
