  1. That's a great thing to do for your father
  2. That is a beautiful area, some of the Group of Seven painters spent the last part of their careers trying to capture the majesty of the area. Thanks for the pictures.
  3. I've seen Ouananiche pics caught by member posted here years ago. They aren't on the list either.
  4. That middle fish does look quite fresh. Nice of you to remove the lamprey hopefully you expired the lampreys life.
  5. Welcome to Toronto, the fishing can be had here but much legwork and some luck is involved. The Toronto Islands can be fished, some pike are caught in the spring and largemouth bass in the summer. Throwing inline spinners, jerkbaits even spinnerbaits can produce. Some people target carp and bullheads there as well. Closer to where you live Ashbridges Bay has some fish even some salmon are caught there where it empties into Lake Ontario, on spoons. Checking out any of the lakeshore and trying an assortment of lures might produce something. Need to put in the time!
  6. How about a Rainbow Darter... A picture for Highdrifter I didn't hook this fish but a brookie i caught on Lake Ontario trib coughed this up.
  7. Never tried that carp fishing but that is an impressive report! Non stop action there. Very nice.
  8. I do have an assortment of Jitterbugs will give this technique a try. Thanks!
  9. Thanks Harrison, the 6-10 ft. breaks is the info i was looking for. Was thinking of jerkbaits and spinnerbaits maybe will throw inline spinners as well. The topwaters all day at this time of year is a given. Thanks!
  10. Going to Lake Muskoka this weekend with non fishing folks, will talk them into taking me out fishing but i am on my own figuring out where the fish are. They have an island northwest of Beaumaris. Thinking that some smallmouth will hit topwaters in the evening or morning is there anything else? Wont try for lakers but any suggestion on pike or walleye or bass will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  11. That was the point of my post, seems like most species are there intermingling anyways. Could see why folks up there might not want masses snagging boots up there however.
  12. What a great story and tribute/gift for your father. The replica looks great! In this time of conservation and amazing technology all you need is a couple of good pictures for a replication of your favorite fish. You can marvel at the replica and have peace of mind from the release. Thanks for posting this.
  13. Nice job on the slideshow there Leechman. Didn't the other amigo's catch monster brook trout this spring? Lot's of good fishing up that way. Thanks for this!
  14. Have caught atlantics, fairly large browns, and rainbow trout at the Forks of the Credit area along with decent brookies. Only the Atlantics and Brook trout could be considered native to the fishery, so there is some introduced and stocked invasive species above the Norval dam. Keeping the Pacific salmon out of there might be good since they don't spawn successfully much anyways.
  15. Nice job on catching the pike. Just curious if they actually are good to eat, some say they are as good as walleye.
  16. Thanks for replies! This was a last minute trip with no real expectations, so to have fish hitting topwaters all day was a treat. Unfortunately my buddy lost his perch jointed Grandma lure to zebra mussels shortly after that musky, must had been made 20 yrs. ago. That was one of largest smallies of my life. Have caught a couple of others over 6lbs at same spot over last couple of decades. All were caught in last week of August. The picture turned out pretty good of that big smallmouth.
  17. Great photos from what looks like a super vacation. Really like the close up of the woodpecker. Thanks for taking the time to put together this awesome post.
  18. Congrats on that HUGE largemouth Nice work on getting the video and release. There are some big bass in that system. Remember a few years ago someone posted an easy 8lb+ fish from the Otonabee River which is in the same level of flow. Keep at it and there could be bigger ones.
  19. Amazing report! The bluefish sounds like fun but that all night fight of a fish with your brother, will always bring fond memories to you. Thanks for sharing that experience.
  20. Hi, haven't done a fishing report since back in March, simply because i haven't fished. Yesterday a surprise opportunity came up, so a fishing we went. Didn't really seem to promising since the winds and weather (and moon phase) were not in sync but i sure was happy to get on the lake anyways. Arrived at destination just before noon so mostly having to fish in mid-day didn't seem right either. Luckily the east winds made our favorite locations calm and wave free so we could throw topwaters for bass all day instead of just early morning or evening. First cast of day and i missed a big bass could only hope for better. Kept at the topwaters and we nailed lots of bass, they seemed to be on the bite. Caught quite a few smallies this size Caught some largemouth similar size Caught a few rock bass and even a perch on these topwaters Decided to give the topwaters a rest and relax and troll some muskies. After about a half hour of trolling and nearly falling asleep, Dave shouts "I got one!". So off goes the engine and the reeling starts. We were trolling over the deepest part of the lake and as a result lots of line was out. After some jumps and thrashing near the boat finally the fish is landed. The fish wasn't weighed or measured but i guess it was 37-40 inch and kind of chunky. So we kept trolling for a bit until we passed one of my favorite spots. I thought throwing topwaters at this spot at 4 in the afternoon was cool since we were there anyways. Turned out to be not a bad idea, ended up quickly catching this bass. Ended up measuring length at 21.75 inches but not weighing but i guess around 6 lbs. What a big chunk of bass it was! Did take a pic for entry in OFC tourney as well. So instead of a drizzly cool day in Toronto got out for a decent day of fishing not to far away. Cheers, ehg
  21. The pics of your mother tubing behind your boat a couple of years ago shows her strength of spirit. Take care and try for muskies this fall, that will sooth your soul.
  22. Thanks for the pictures of the extensive damage StoneFly. Looks like it was pretty bad that way. Very rare for a storm to be so excessive around here. Not since May 31, 1985 have i seen skies so black. Slight damage even in downtown Toronto yesterday.
  23. I think that sucker is of the 'silver redhorse' variety, not the very common 'white sucker' you see around here.
  24. You seem to have those Simcoe smallies dialed in. Another great report!
