  1. I think you did a pretty good job in paint Trouty. I've often used both methods you've illustrated when running gang trolls on Lake Kipawa, successfully too. It's nice not having to fight the gang troll.
  2. I've used braid in my offshore releases, but I have to loop and twist a few inches of line, then insert at the back edge of the release pads, so far no issues.
  3. Well I finally finished the rod donation yesterday, snapped a picture of it in the drying lathe (never mind the messy work bench). It's a Frontier 6' one piece Blank donated by jccustomtackle. Rated for line 1 to 4 Lure weights 1/32 to 1/8 Custom cork handle Fuji graphite reel seat Fuji concept Alconite guides The rod all finished weighs a whopping 74 grams (2.6 oz). 4. It looks like you were stuck in the back of the boat Brian, silly you. Good stuff Terry and way to go keeping Brian at the back of the boat.
  5. I'm a little this and a little this. But well done and thank you.
  6. As an absolute dyed in the wool trout man and Brookie manic all I can say is, "you're killing me."
  7. I suppose this is humour but truth is I saw him Wednesday, in person and spoke on the phone with him a few hours ago. Does that count for anything?
  8. By that logic anyone taking a picture of a slot sized walleye or slot sized musky, or any musky while fishing with a conservation license is breaking the law since they're not legally able to possess the fish.
  9. I've stayed at the North Camp a few times and yes, night is when they bite and some real brutes too! As mentioned not far from the docks and our most productive lure was a good ole Mepps 3.
  10. Would it by chance be a boiled dinner Brian. If they're not careful they may end up in the smoker, literally for our fall trip.
  11. It gets worse, last night I had five raccoons in the yard.
  12. I always think in terms of balance Garry and if reels go lighter then rods need to go lighter. At some point one or the other will fail! I build (as you well know) many rods and the trend these days for lighter and lighter float reels (centerpin for you young'ns) makes it hard to keep these long rods in balance. That fact has had many these days choosing to go with longer rear grips and shorter fore grips (think spinning rod) to offset the forward weight and that generally means your losing as much of a foot or more of your long rod behind your hand. What's the point? Keep the rod length up front and think in terms of balance, you'll get more out of your rod, performance wise.
  13. True, on both accounts! Yes, but not "the" city apparently.
  14. Brook brought it to my attention, she was going nuts. I'm truly surprised given how high she was jumping up the 6' fence that she didn't get a hold of it. I'm almost wishing she had......
  15. I was surprised to see this young'n (fence boards are 5 3/4") at high noon with the heat and all. Dog was going nuts and it froze, remaining there for over half an hour. Couldn't bring myself to disposing of it though it would have been quite easy, I hope I don't regret my decision. Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  16. Yep, another plus for the less scenic route. However if you've never driven the 17 it's worth doing at least once, as I did. Though the rain and fog made the views less than spectacular on my trip.
  17. I try to stay far away from anything or anyone who insists on shipping UPS!
  18. 11 may be boring but it's an easier drive and less fuel consumption when towing IMO, and yes I've driven both and will stick to 11 in the future.
  19. Hahahaha.....good one.
  20. I always know your posts will include stunning photography skills Mike and this post didn't disappoint.
  21. The learning curve and process has no limits Garry, but it can be both exciting and at times frustrating! If I can be of any assistance you know where to reach me.
  22. Awesome! Spectacular! I'm dumbfounded! I'd be happy to boat just of those beauties! While I've had many "Gar" strikes over the years while targeting other species I've never kept one tagged long enough to land it. It's on my bucket list Drew and if I can do it with the fly rod I'll be totally pumped! You've got me stoked and I know where to find them. Thanks for sharing this.
