  1. UPS is bar none the worst and most costly when ordering stuff and the only one's who've damaged blanks for me.
  2. Agreed, nicely done Sir.
  3. Seems like a win-win situation for lodge owners and clients to me Kevin, all things considered this is truly a non issue no brainer. But then again you're dealing with the MNR....... I'm also pleased to hear that you'll be open for business this spring.
  4. Good stuff Rick. I'm itching to get up there but given that I have limited opportunities I'm going to wait for safe ice over deep water.
  5. Did you try Ernie?
  6. Taken about an hour ago just before Chris put the epoxy winding finish on the tip section of his new rod.
  7. Wow, I'm truly impressed with the off the cuff (quick) ideas. Great stuff guys, very creative.
  8. Hahahaha, you're way to witty my friend.
  9. My biggest ice Lakers over the years (decades) have consistently fallen to an extremely aggressive jigged 6" Willams Whitefish spoon (silver). Not necessarily jigged anywhere near bottom.......
  10. I would concur. I didn't have internet or tutelage when I was self learning, might have saved time but in the end experience is the best tool. If you can't find help there or other sites shoot me a PM and I'll help best I can.
  11. Thanks guys. There's and expression I believe, something about old dogs and new tricks.......
  12. I was asked by Live2fish85 (Chris) if I would help/guide him through his first rod build. Naturally I said "for sure," but for convenience I suggested he come here and use my shop, my tools and my guidance rather than do it via PM's as he lives near by. So after discussing what it was he wanted I ordered in the needed components and once all was here we arranged some convenient time for both of us to get together and begin the build. We're two days into it at this point. Chris has glued up the cork rings for the handle, wound on some guides and also shaped the handle and fitted it to the blank for gluing. I did the gluing of the handle to the blank in his absence but it is at this point it's all I have done outside of offering guidance. I think he's done amazing! Here's a few pictures of where it's all at to date
  13. The makings of a fine meal or two for sure. Love the video, laughed at exactly the right moment as I can definitely relate to it.
  14. Thanks Bud. No intention to undermine your offer, just thought I might be a little handier given the OP's location.
  15. If east Hamilton is convenient shoot me a PM.
  16. Yes Sir! Love it, nice Bull.
  17. Funny, the skin you guys are all missing was one I never used, couldn't stand it to be honest!
  18. Ya Baby! http://www.youtube.com/embed/U_UM9tmc5rU
  19. Good stuff B and nice work Chris. I don't see you having to much trouble with your first lesson tomorrow Chris.
  20. Another NF yawn fest......
  21. Sweet BBB, I'm ready to get my butt out there, hopefully soon!
  22. I'm always happy to know that not once in my life have I ever wasted a single moment or dollar on anything NHL.
  23. Good job Rich, stay with it! Day 6 for me, cold turkey after a pack plus for most of the last 37 years!
