  1. Thx folks for all your comments. I have not digested all the advice you have offered but I will look into mirrorless cameras. I'd never heard of them before. I tend to take scenery and landscape shots with some wildlife-----hence the zoom. 2 limitations of my current camera: filters will not fit and there is no long exposure setting (used to be called 'bulb' on the old SLRs)---useful for night shots, fireworks etc.
  2. Looking for some recommendations on an 'entry level' DSLR. I have a Canon SX20 IS that just quit. It had most of the functions that I was used to in my old SLR film camera. I am considering either a Canon or Nikon--- a bit leery of other brands. My SX 20 has a 20 times zoom. I would be buying the DSLR body plus a zoom either separately or as a package. Thx for your suggestions.
  3. If that is the case I don't think he was particularly negligent. It could easily happen.
  4. A couple of quick comments: Rivière-du-Loup is about 1/2 way when driving from the GTA. Lots of motels there. If you start sight-seeing in the Maritimes(Cabot Trail etc) you'll never make it to Nfld.
  5. Check the park regs online but I'd be surprised if motor boats are not allowed on the G Bay sites.
  6. Like everywhere else, you need to do you homework and look around to find the better bargains. for e.g. we stayed in a place with a kitchen and a separate bathroom in Twillingate for quite a good price a few years back.
  7. Lemme check with the ground hog and/or farmers almanac.!
  8. You did not read my disclaimer!
  9. I heard this 1 a long time ago(No real offense intended to S'bury. I was there a few years back and it seemed a nice enough place) The guys were sitting around having a few pints and shooting the breeze and shoveling the stuff that usually gets shoveled. Conversation turns to the places they have lived and worked. Joe in the corner mentions Sudbury. Bob, 2 seats away says "Sudbury!! Sudbury!! The only things that ever came out of Sudbury are whores and hockey players". Mario, sitting across the table says "I beg your pardon! That's where my mother is from". To which Bob says "So what team did she play for?"
  10. So is anybody going to tell the "Sudbury joke" ???
  11. Donald Trump addressed a major gathering of the American Indian Nation. He spoke for almost an hour about his plans for increasing every Native American's present standard of living. Though vague in detail, he spoke about his ideas for helping his "red sisters and brothers." Afterwards, the Tribes presented him with a plaque inscribed with his new Indian name, "Walking Eagle", which he proudly accepted. After Trump left, a news reporter asked the chiefs how they came to select this name. They explained that "Walking Eagle" is the name given to a bird so full of it that it can no longer fly.
  12. My son in law works in the IT field in Waterloo where he finds the pace quite different from TO. I thought a lot of IT geeks telecommuted. His company is in TO so he needs to go there at least once a week.
  13. I've had a look at that too. There's a dam just downstream so salmon and rainbows cannot get in there. I might try checking it out better in the spring.
  14. Wow! Real classy 'lady'(is that what you called her??). If you didn't tell her where to go after a statement like that you have more patience than I have!!
  15. Crikey----why not photoshop a rainbow instead!! they look a lot better!
  16. Trump's First Night In the White House The Donald is elected president.... On the first night he spends in the White House, he is visited by the ghost of George Washington. He asks him, "George, what can I do to best serve the United States?" The ghost of George Washington responds, "Never tell a lie." He says, "Oh, I don't think I can do that." The next night, he is visited by the ghost of Thomas Jefferson. He asks him, "Thomas, what can I do to best serve the United States?" The ghost of Thomas Jefferson responds, "Do not bully the people." He says, "Oh, I don't think I can do that." On the third night, he is visited by the ghost of Abraham Lincoln. He asks him, "Abraham, what can I do to best serve the United States?" The ghost of Abraham Lincoln responds, "Go see a play."
  17. I'm glad nobody drowned but I guess it proves you don't have to be too smart to have $$$!! Audi?? I wouldn't drive my 10 yr old Corolla on that!
  18. If you do temp fix until spring warms up a bit use lots of that black tarry goop around the edges of the shingles and maybe underneath. The little sticky tabs that are on the shingles will not seal at these temps.
